Yes. I don't see us challenging CL. So I'm not bother if we crash out on early stage. Also like I said, 4th is the minimum target for any decent manager with this squad. Unless if we go in CL Final, ala Liverpool with Benitez and Klopp when their League position was suffered. It's their call to make.

One whole season we strive to get into CL, just to start the next season with "not bothered, if we crash out on early stage".
United has to be at a level where we compete with the worlds best.
And that is why the frustration here, as we seem to be just a few good signings away from starting to challenge. Still doesnt meant we put our our tools down even before the proverbial first kick of the ball.
We do compete with the world best in the League, and we came 4th.
There is a world beyond the league!

Cant understand this viewpoint. If theres one thing I've missed dearly its seeing us walking out to face a European elite opponent with the CL anthem playing.
We’re either going to have to win it flukily or play 38 league games at full strength, in a congested season , hoping none of our first XI get injured throughout the entire season, whilst also throwing both the domestic cups, to ensure qualification for next season.
Why do so many fans think we came 4th? I’ve heard this from loads of United fans in person too. We came 3rd.
Anyway, we don’t compete with the best. We were about 30 points off the title. There’s 4 glaring holes in our team that needed to be filled, CB, LB, DM & RW. As of right now we’ve got none of them. Ideally we needed 6 signings, 4 starters & 2 depth players, so we’re 1/6 from what we needed. This summer was a real opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool & City, and we simply haven’t acted. It’s disheartening lack of ambition. I’m sure Ole feels the same. As of right now if Rashford or Greenwood gets an injury Dan James is back in the starting line-up. If Shaw gets injured Williams is back in the starting line-up, and if Maguire gets an injury, well, we’re pretty much fecked. The squad just isn’t strong enough. Our only position with decent depth is midfield

If you're that frustrated, why aren't you bothered about the club having a subpar manager?
We won't be competing with the best with Ole Solskjaer coaching us.
If you are delusional enough to believe he's good enough to compete for the top, I'd say it's fair enough that the owners are delusional enough to believe what they've already invested and the players already at the club is enough.
I prefer a trophy to "competing with elite opponent" with no decent chance to win it. feck CL, and we go for FA , League, or Europa cups.
Why do we need all that to happen? Did last season follow that script even remotely? Football doesn't work that way, and if it was ever anything like as predictable as your post suggests we'd all quickly get bored of watching it.
It's more about being pragmatic, than hoping for gold pot at the end of rainbow. It is what it is. What do you expect fans to do?
Frankly I'm often more concerned with our subpar fans than any manager or player at the club

Think it depends on injuries. But ya with a normal season (some injuries here and there), I would expect us to improve and reach about 75 points. This should be good enough for top 4.
Because, contrary to your views, Ole has achieved the following:
- Got us to 3rd. Which is an improvement;
- Brilliant record against the top teams in the league.
- SF of Europa.
- Intangibles like playing right kind of football, right attitude, etc.
Enough, to warrant support this summer as we havent looked a better team potentially, since 2013.
I understand your viewpoint mate. Its just that we fans have to be more ambitious and demand more of the board. Esp, this season when a good transfer could (still can) get us competing near the top again.

You also forgot that we beat City, draw to Liverpool. And only lost to them when we had to play with the likes of Pereira. It's a cup and forfeit it from the get go is just crazy. Once in the knockouts stage anything can happen. Plus, what is the point of getting top 4 to play in the CL then drop it from the start just to get into top 4 again? Does it sound a bit meaningless?
Anyway, as I said I'd seriously doubt Ole would share your view and if he does, imo we should sack him asap. It's a disgrace to our club and the fans if our manager would think so and do so.

Not under this management no - but you could chuck Messi into this team and Solskjaer still wouldn't be winning a title.
If we had ambitions to win the league we would've already moved on from Ole. So I don't know why you're crying about the club being as loyal to its subpar players as it is to its subpar manager.

For me personally, with the squad we have, top 4 is just guaranteed more money.
So Ole's call to make between CL and PL. I personally would go with SAF and Klopp with Liverpool (in their early years). They're aiming to win domestic and lesser Cups, build a squad, then start dreaming about CL.
It's far more realistically planned than chasing rainbow of going further in CL and PL with this squad.

What's the point in fixing the shower if the boilers broken? Best we're getting under Solskjaer is a cold shower anyway.

It's gonna be tricky. Last season the top 4 had one of the lowest point totals in history. We may need an extra 8 points to get top 4 this time around.
I think we have a decent first 11, but are pretty injury prone and the squad depth is really poor, especially if we lose any of our front three.
You can fix your shower up ready for the new boiler.
Managers only last 2-3 seasons nowadays so we need to recruit to a certain playing style, then find a manager that suits that style, rather than hiring and big name manager and letting the him dictate the signings. If we let Mourinho buy and sell who we wanted, we would be in a big hole right now.

Let me guess you're a Poch fan? A man who has won nothing and has done nothing of merit. The man has been out of a job for a while now and no - one has approached him.

I'd also add to that the fact he's got a tune out of players like Pogba Martial and Matic who were looking for a long time like they were not long for being at the club under Jose.
He's cleared out the toxic ones like Sanchez and Lukaku and is clearly looking to shift on several more who aren't good enough.
He's also bought pretty well too. People grumble about Maguire but he's our best defender. Same with AWB, excellent defender and better going forward than he gets credit for. Then we have Bruno who was absolutely excellent. Dan James hasn't worked out quite as well as hoped but then again he played far more games than he really should have been asked to play in his first season due to us going into the season light on quality.
Donny is also a good bit of business who I think will shine as we move more and more to a possession based style with occasional counter attacks.
You make some very good points but we were never going to make six signings because we aren't an owners plaything like Roman is for Chelsea. They also have that Marina who is supposed to be very good at negotiating transfers which make a difference. Then there is the small matter of having money to spend from selling Hazard too.
So grealish has signed a new contract at Villa, Dortmund already talking about Sancho's price tag rising next year (when others will be in a better place to bid). Utter feck up by MUFC. But it's OK we are being linked to two teenagers no one has ever seen play. Long old season ahead. The board should resign in shame
