Potential Departures:
Dean Henderson (G) Wanted to return to Sheffield United - no stuck in no man's land.
Diogo Dalot (RB) at the price a potentially viable solution for Spurs but MU could price him out of a move.
Chris Smalling (CB) The amateurs blocked a move to Italy by asking too much - now stuck with the player they will be offering him around the Premier League.
Phil Jones (CB) will want to see what his options are but will be available.
Marcos Rojo (LWB/ CB) not wanted - Fiorentina were interested but MU blocked the move and ended up on loan at Estudiantes. They want to keep him on loan for the last year of his contract - or could buy him for perhaps €5M spread over the season and the player wishes to stay there. Another that I can see ending in tears. There are limitations where he could move to. Manchester United are of course not assisting and are pricing him out of a move to Estudiantes, who really only want another loan in any case - that would give Manchester United a loan fee as his contract runs down. Stuck with another player that will be offered around.
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (CM) Joined Oldham after being released from his contract.
Angel Gomes (AM/ CM) has moved to Lille and gone on loan after they mapped out their plan for him.
Paul Pogba (CM/ AM) wants out but his options are not good and Manchester United have not so far been open to taking players in part exchange from Juventus. Mino has spoken with Paratici in recent days and will now be putting Manchester on the spot over a very expensive new contract with some good size payments being made to have it signed.
Tahith Chong (RW) wanted out but persuaded to stay and go on loan to Werder Bremen.
Andreas Pereira (AM) Benfica offer him an option.
Jesse Lingard (RW/ AM) knows that Manchester United see him as potentially being surplus to requirements at Old Trafford and that the current coach is not keen on him - so, not unreasonably. there is an ad hoc agreement with Mino that allows him to look for other options for the player. Right now I am aware there have been approaches to several sides and that the couple who showed some interest have moved on. Interest in England I am told is thin on the ground although at least two sides have been approached.
Juan Mata (AM/ RW) Was expected to move on in the summer, possibly back to Valencia, but now not so clear and he will probably stay.
Largie Ramazani (LW/ RW) Has been released.
Deji Sotona (LW) another kiddie who wants out - a "third party" has explained that the kid sees no plan for himself going forward and has made it clear that Manchester United is not the place for him to be. There are options away from England but Manchester United want him to stay.
Alexis Sanchez (LW/ F) Inter have a continued loan. Another financial disaster for the club.
Potential Interest:
At the start of this season the expectation was that the club would look to DM, CM, CM/ AM, W/ F and S as needed over two transfer windows (January and now) but I suspect the club will prioritise CM/ LM/ AM (e. g. a Jack Grealish), S (e. g. Ighalo) and a W/ F (e. g. Costa) and then a couple of youngsters (e. g. Joe Hugill (S) and the kid from Barcelona) .
Previously a DM would have been a target, but a new contract for Matic has delayed the immediate need so the interest in Rice, Zakaria, Soumare, Llorente and Thiago has gone for this summer, at least for now and possibly for good as they may not be available next summer. A versatile left sided CM/ AM (ideally Jack Grealish) is still wanted. The club need to decide what to do about adding a striker with Odion Ighalo being the low-cost option post his loan ending in January. There are other youngsters the club have an interest in and could still look to cherry-pick like Ricky-Jade Jones and Kalvin Phillips. Then the issue shifts to players departing to make space. Saul Niguez (CM), Donny van de Beek (CM) and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (CM) would have been available to replace Paul Pogba but it is looking unlikely now that Pogba will depart and they can now be discounted. All look to be moving elsewhere now.
The situation with Sancho (RW/ LW) remains unchanged in that he is wanted but the cost is an issue which is opening up options like Ferran Torres (can now realistically be discounted), Chiesa (borderline whether anything would now be possible) and now with a third party stepping in and proposing Kingsley Coman.
In terms of GKs and the defence, Manchester United has looked at a couple of GKs but no approach has been made. In terms of CBs, even if Smalling and Jones were to be sold there is no space for an addition without a couple more being sold. Interest in the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly (too old and price would need to halve and in discussions about a move elsewhere), Jean-Clair Todibo (was offered to the club), Milan Skriniar (huge asking price and involved in discussions about a move elsewhere) and Marash Kumbulla (heading elsewhere) is not being pressed.
Dominik Livakovic (G) Manchester United are again looking at a player they looked at when Mr Mourinho was coach and was almost signed by Montpellier in the summer. Dinamo Zagreb have very significant financial expectations for Livakovic which has likely driven off long-term admiraers Galatasaray.
Josip Posavec (G) well respected Hadjuk Split goalkeeper watched by Manchester United, Marseille and Hamburg.
Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) Late approach will go nowhere. Flake.
Kalvin Phillips (DM/ CM) has been watched but I would not expect anything to come of it in the short term after Leeds were promoted.
Ricky-Jade Jones (CM/ AM) A kiddie from Peterborough that Leeds, Arsenal and Manchester United looked to strike a deal for in January. Spurs, Liverpool and Everton have all had scouts watch him as well. Leeds will push if they get promoted. Peterborough will look to hold on to him.
Jack Grealish (CM/ AM/ LM) remains viable for Manchester United as he can play on the left and in a more attacking role - Aston Villa have an FFP issue - MU may well look to exploit that as he offers something different to Bruno Fernandes and other options are off the table at present. AV may not be looking to slash his asking price accordingly during the C.V. There has been interest from Spurs but that will have likely have gone now and he was watched by Arsenal as apotential Oezil replacement.
James Rodriguez (AM/ RW/ LW) - a high end Columbian is wanted in Miami with JR the preferred choice, but JR will want more time in Europe with Juventus and Manchester United the preference. Juventus were open to replacing Dybala and have lost out on Eriksen and expect their first choice AM player to complete a move elsewhere, so James Rodriguez might well be an option but right now that is unlikely. Manchester United still want an AM who can cover the left and offer something different to Bruno Fernandes. The preference is Grealish but JR is a far cheaper option in transfer fee but has huge wage demands. Wolves have "strong ties" with JM but a move there remains very unlikely given their financial problems and FFP punishment.
Jadon Sancho (RW) The amateurs knew the situation yet still wasted everyone's time. Reputationally another disaster leaves the club looking at options.
Douglas Costa (RW) may be an economic short to middle-term solution for Manchester United.
Federico Bernardeschi (RW/ AM) A Barcelona move was rejected in January, but he will be available in the summer. Bernardeschi's opportunities have been in decline on the RW and he has had to play out of position which has not worked out. Milan have dropped prior interest whilst both Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are not interested in any exchange deals involving him. Player wants to stay in Turin or would be open to a move to London - which will see him offered to Chelsea as part of a trade or to Manchester United for Pogba (although that now looks unlikely) . Might be an option to Douglsas Costa.
Federico Chiesa (RW/ F) much more affordable than Sancho but Inter remain keen although talks are now on hold. Fiorentina are willing to sell in the summer for €65M in cash.
David Brooks (RW) Emerging Sancho alternative.
Facundo Pellistri (RW) Newcastle, Lyon, Wolves, Chelsea, Manchester City, Maritimo, Manchester United and Oviedo have looked Pellistri. His agent has approached Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid to gauge interest in Spain - which would likely be the preferred destination. A third party approached Chelsea and Juventus when they were watching a Copa Libertadores game he was playing in. Manchester United have spoken with his coach, Diego Forlan. Not one for the first team so will not solve the immediate problem.
Ousmane Dembele (RW) knows that his time is up in Barcelona and that options are few. Barcelona have him on their lengthy list for sale or trade and he could be the only way they could do something with Neymar this summer. There is no reason to assume a move to England would be out of the question - perhaps even a move to the grim, wet and cobbled streets Northwest of England where there would be a significant cultural change, overweight tattooed women pushing wheelchairs with kids who look like their brothers, smog, dead and dying pit ponies laying on the street with only chips and fried curry to eat. I would scratch him.
Moussa Dembele (S) If the right offer is made he may be available, there has been sustained interest from Manchester United and the asking price has dropped to about €60M.
Callum Wilson (S) Bournemouth have given permission to their players to speak with other clubs and Manchester United might just look again - but I suspect he will head elsewhere.
Joe Hugill (S) Has signed for the academy.}
