Worst Actors

We can't judge Christiansen based upon Star Wars alone, lets see what he can do with different roles

Why not, he was total shit, I thought Ewan McGregor put in a decent performance as Obi-Wan, so you cant just say it was Star Wars

Basically what i'm saying is that i doubt many of us have seen any other performances by Christiansen. Just because he was bad in one role, doens't make him bad overall. He has a new film coming out with Samuel L Jackson next year called Jumper, after that and maybe a few more roles we can call him a shit actor. For now he was just shit in star wars.

But he is shit

I think Leo Dicaprio is quite a good actor :D
He was fantastic in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

I suspect that even I could make a decent stab at a charicature of someone with a mental disability. What he has done since has shown him to be very rubbish indeed.

His performances in The Man In The Iron Mask and Titanic were tragically hilarious.

Cage was excellent in Leaving Las Vegas, but it's the only film he's ever been good in. He's terrible in everything else.

And about that list on the front page: I agree with all of them except Shatner. I actually think he's quality as Denny Crane in Boston Legal.

Hmm... an actor I'd add to the "unable to act" list...? It'd have to be Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Peter Petrelli in "Heroes". It's a shame, since the rest of the cast is quality, and he has a very cool character -- he just can't act.

Oh, and all of the kids in the Harry Potter films except for the ginger one, who's passable.

The thing about actors like Keanu Reeves, Stallone, Segal, even Roger Moore, is not that they are necessarily bad actors -- they just have an exceedingly limited range. A proper actor like Morgan Freeman or Meryll Streep will play whoever they're asked to play, and do it well, whereas these guys can only play one role.

It's not necessarily themselves, because in actuality Keanu Reeves is meant to be really shy and retiring, but more it's more like an alter-ego than a character. Then again, that can work to their adavantage because roles actually get written for them, and you know as a casting director that if you need someone to play that sort of role and play it well, you can count on them.

Just don't ask them to film any romance scenes. Please.

Nicholas Cage
Russell Crowe
Gwyneth Paltrow
Winona Ryder
Renee Zellweger
Ewan McGregor

Why some of these have jobs, let alone Oscars, is unfathomable.

Good point you make there, I agree with the mostpart of your post, however your use of Morgan Freeman i find a little strange. If anything Freeman is the most type-cast actor in the world, each role seems to be the same nowadays. Im not saying that he isn't great, on the contrary, i just feel as though he is somewhat limited in contemporary cinema. Perhaps not as much as the other people you have mentioned, but still to a certain extent.

Cage's getting too much stick here. He is not bad, certainly not the worst out there. Was good in Leaving Las Vegas for me. Also does not make the movie stink for me like Di caprio or Affleck.

Freeman's not rubbish but yes, it is annoying to see him in the same role again and again, that's the way Hollywood works unfortunately or has since last 10 year or so. Even De Niro and Pacino have been doing the same role for a while now.

No doubt about Cage has had some good performances, that said The Wicker Man was absolutely pathetic, as was NExt

Are you kidding me? Adam Sandler is excruciating. Absolutely dire. Every film he has ever done relies on really, really shit slapstick and crappy jokes, no matter what the genre. Good God, they're awful and I didn't realise that anyone older than fourteen genuinly thought he was decent.

Morgan Freeman isn't a bad actor, he just does play the same role over and over again. But as someone else said, that's the way Hollywood works nowadays. You can be a quality actor but get stuck into one genre, even one character. Just look at: Bruce Willis (hardman), Samuel L. Jackson (crazy motherf*****g gangster), Gene Hackman (grumpy old man who knows something), Jeff Goldblum (wacky scientist), Christopher Walken (Christopher Walken).

There's some people out there who get called bad actors purely because of that. I know that Hugh Grant gets a lot of stick because he always does romantic comedies, but that's because he's good at those. Who knows how good he would be at other films, since he never gets the chance. And within his sphere, he's probably the best that there is.

Truly bad actors are those that have no sphere whatsoever, who could be presented with a character that matches all of their strengths and none of their weaknesses and yet still make the film crap.
