Bit of a long shot perhaps, but is anyone watching it?

The US team seem strong, Canada are probably the favourites as per usual. Tavares looks like he's going to be some player.

We, Sweden that is, have a pretty decent chance as well since we have an unusually good team this year.

I think the WJHC is a brilliant tournament, more interesting than the WC. It's like a transfer muppets wet dream.

I don't think we have enough firepower. Sure Möller is good but the rest really needs to step up if we play Canada.

Good point. You could tell against the Finns that Möller was a cut above the rest. Maybe Backlund could step up. Also true what Wikegård said that the first line defense pairing is unbalanced. I like the look of Karlsson, but he's doesn't seem to take enough defensive responsibility to let Hedman have a go. To bad that we get so few Dogge Murray kind of players coming through over here.

The team is almost ridiculously hyped right now, it is like people expect all of them to become top NHL players. Still, Hedman, Markström, Svensson-Pääjärvi, Josefson and the rest seem like an exceptionally good crop of prospects by Swedish standards.

Looking forward to the game tonight.

i love ice hockey, love to see how the players fight, how they get crushed against those plastic sides, how they run and how the buzzard sounds when someone scores

never saw the puck, though, not even once :nono:

We are gonna need a new batch of Swedes in NHL soon. Most of the top players are over 28. Still Markström is the only one I'm certain will make a impact in NHL, not buying into the Hedman hype even if he is a good player.

I think (hope) you're wrong about Hedman, but I agree that it's stupid to herald him as the next Lidström or whatever at that age. I saw some idiot on the net describe him as "a mix between Lidström and Bourque only better!" He's a beast of a boy though. Just the fact that he might edge out a talent like Tavares for the #1 draft pick is pretty amazing and can't be put down to hype alone, but of course you never know how these things pan out.
We'll see about the others. Markström is certainly a huge talent and hopefully others like Pääjärvi can live up to the hype as well. It's very nice to see so many Swedes high up in the preliminary draft lists this year.

I don't think well see a generation as good as the old one for a some time though. I don't know if we'll ever see another Swedish player like Forsberg or Lidström.

Dark years for Finnish hockey. Last two WJHC has been a mighty flop and this year it doesn't seem to change. We lose the puck far too often and that's the reason why we lose our games. And no real individual performers in our team. It just to be great but not anymore foreign players are the solution for everything these days in the league and that's the reason why we don't win anything anymore in the U20's or lower. I blame Shedden, Baxter and Francis for that.

I would love for anyone other than Canada to win it this year.

We didn't have anything at this level for a very long period prior to last year. Finland will come around. Rajala and your goalie looked good against Sweden and that boy Granlund I hear is an excellent prospect. Defense looked.. not so good.

Ice hockey is gay...Universal opinion

So junior Ice hockey should hold good only for junior gays or potential gays in making.

Hope this helps.

There are a lot of popular sports that I don't enjoy watching. American Football, Rugby, Golf, Cricket to name some. I just don't see the need to go into threads at message boards to post pathetic wind-ups although your cringe worthy attempt at humour actually makes it rather comical this time.

Oh, how I'd absolutely love it if you didn't.

I'm hooked on this tournament at this point. Actually watched Swedens thrashing of Latvia instead of the Boro game  Too bad we play Russia on fecking New Years Eve of all days.

We'll likely meet you in the final where the Swedes will choke, as usual. ;)

That's no way to speak of the Olympic Champions of Ice Hockey, Dwayne ;)

Would be great to see a Sweden - Canada rematch from last year. But I'm not all that optimistic that we'll get that far this time around, while you'll fluke your way through the tournament, as usual

Hehehe who doesn't? Just so you know, the fluke part was ironic though!

Seriously, do you guys even have any other sport that is popular in Canada or do everyone who's good at sports want to be a hockey player over there? You're just so ridiculously dominant in the game.

I mean hockey is very big over here but I think football is even more popular.

Almost as gay as cricket.

At least hockey has athletes, not homos that take turns bumming each other with over sized ping pong paddles.

Shitting pancakes, I shit you not.

criquet is the gayest sport on earth FACT!

tradition is the only reason why they still use bats instead of dildos

We all play hockey. As the demographics change with immigration that will probably change some, but almost all kids grow up wanting to be in the NHL.

Thanks for the info.

I have nothing against Canadians per se, but your hockey teams.. Especially the Lindros type players. Extremely talented and hard as nails. This year I'm hoping for an upset and it's not that improbable really. Yanks, Russians and Swedes all have a good shot at it imo.

Vijay is a twat, I fecking read this thread just because I knew he was gonna write something like Ice hockey sucks or is gay. Personally I think he is a closet queer everything is gay to him, because gay is on his mind. A more appropriate name for would be vigay

It helps that it's almost always winter.

Already posted my thoughts some time back, Ice Hockey players wear silly headgears, a weird offside rule that none so far has figured the feck its all about,....akin to like thinking having sex with a chic is nasty or the urge to wear baseball caps perfectly matches with gay moronics.

Thought of having a coherent discussion on this topic but you gimps are all beyond help.

Happy New Year anyway!

How anyone can call ice hockey gay is beyond me. Especially if you're a cricket fan - I mean, you have pauses for tea ffs!

Hockey is a bit of a rich kid sport tbh. There are exceptions but the equipment is so expensive and you have to buy new equipment every year or two until you stop growing and most kids go as far as they can go in hockey before they do stop growing.

When I was 4 or 5 my mum said "You can play hockey, or you can play everything else".
