 I'm suprised no one else picked up on that

If they don't find out who it was this will run forever with ever increasingly bizarre conspiracy theories. Not to mention the further trauma to his family.

Was he separated from his wife BTW? Something about the quotes from the family suggested that they were to me. I don't know what and I'm not suggesting this has any bearing on the crime.

No, not sure where you got that from. She'll be flying to Jamaica along with one of their kids.

Bob Woolmer Murdered! ! !

Pakistan's coach 'was strangled'

Woolmer's death has cast a long shadow over the World Cup
Pakistan's cricket coach Bob Woolmer was murdered in his hotel room on Sunday after the team's World Cup shock defeat to Ireland, Jamaican police say.
A post-mortem examination established that the former England player had died as a result of "manual strangulation", police Commissioner Lucius Thomas said.

"In these circumstances, the matter of Mr Woolmer's death is now being treated as murder," he told a news conference.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

The statement was read by a police spokesman at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston - where Mr Woolmer, 58, was found unconscious by staff on Sunday morning.

''Bob was a large man - it would have taken some significant force to subdue him'', said Mark Shields Deputy chief commissioner

Police said there were no signs of forced entry into his room and none of his possessions had been taken. Authorities are studying CCTV footage from the hotel.

The deputy commissioner of the Jamaican police, Mark Shields, said this might now be a hunt for more than one killer, and urged the perpetrators to hand themselves in.

"Bob was a large man. It would have taken some significant force to subdue him," he said, adding that police were ruling nothing out and had "lots of lines of inquiry".

The BBC's Andy Gallacher in Kingston says that Bob Woolmer's murder has stunned the cricketing world and left the World Cup in disarray.

Speculation that this may be connected to gambling cartels is only adding to the confusion surrounding his tragic death, our correspondent says.

Fcuking hell, this just gets worse and worse!

I wondered that as her TVinterview seemed very controlled indeed..! Also not suggesting anything..!

Not a Jamaican national is all they have said. The identity of the suspect is apparently going to be revealed in 8-10 hours.

Reports from New Delhi Television suggested a non-Jamaican national was being held and that police had confiscated his telephone.

indian media = crap

Thats really going too far. Unless you're joking, it could be considered slander. Inzy is an intensely religious, gentle person.

My personal theory for what its worth is that if a match was fixed somehow, it was the West Indies match. Bookies would have thought the Paks would easily walk through the Ireland and Zimbabwe match so losing the Windies game wouldn't affect them going through into the next round. When the team somehow managed to lose to the Irish, things got far more serious. Woolmer found out and was planning to reveal all at which point the bookie/s killed him. Fairly wild I know and no evidence whatsoever but somehow seems to make sense to me.

Doesn't have to be a business deal. Could be the work of a single deranged fan and this wouldn't even be the first time. The case of Monica Seles comes to mind.

There was no forced entry. I doubt any crazed fan would be a friend of Woolmer's for him to allow him into his room. The killer(s) was/were known to him so more than likely this was a hit.

There's no reason to believe that the motive (if it is match fixing related) had anything to do with the current World Cup. It could just as easily be the case that this was a revenge attack for an incident that occurred months ago, and that the culprit took his opportunity at a time when the finger of suspicion would inevitably be pointed at the Pakistanis. I'm sure the police are keeping an open mind. I just hope they catch the cnuts responsible.

Aggers reckons, if it's anyone involved in the world cup itself, the whole thing will be cancelled.
Don't think that's gonna happen unless someone from ICC is involved.......

joking aside I'm no betting man but wouldn't Ireland winning have a much better payout? I haven't seen the odds but they must've been fairly well stacked against the Irish lads.
confused.

The murderers were either members of the Pakistani team, members of the Pakistani cricket board, or Pakistani cricket fans. In short, Pakistani's.

Go post such rubbish on BNP boards.

For those who don't know Sloan, he is the racist Re_deus.

Jamaican police have asked the Pakistani cricket team to stay behind as there guests (to help with enquiries), they will however be allowed to leave if they so wish.

They had there DNA taken NOT because they are suspects but to eliminate their DNA from that found in the hotel room. Their DNA will be found in the room considering Woolmer was their coach. By eliminating their DNA they can hopefully isolate potential suspects.

The whole thing is well fishy and I am inclined to agree that this could well be the case. The team has now sought permission to leave asap. Now why would they do that?

Isn't it kind of unusual that every player was out caught in the game against Ireland?
