Winning attitude of Veron

With all the talk of dumping Veron...I haven't seen many MU's players dedication expressed so clearly as this that I found at soccernet:

Veron:

'My own ambition is secondary to the enormous debt of honour and friendship that I owe to Alex Ferguson,' he said. 'It stems from those periods last season that weren't pleasant, when the headlines about me were "misfit" and "Ferguson's worst buy" when my commitment and ability were being

constantly questioned. He stood by me and defended my reputation in public. In private when he recognised there were moments of great doubt coming from within me he offered me words of reassurance and great kindness.

'He would see this, as a father does with his son, and react with a word, a wink, a smile.

'These are the qualities of not just a champion manager but a good and kind man. It is why I must repay this debt. The question is always the same - am I staying at United or am I leaving? This is the simple answer: I am staying and I would like to see out at least the remaining years of my contract - and possibly more if they want me to. I want to show the people of Manchester that I have it in me to be a champion. In achieving my own ambitions I would also fulfil the ambitions of this club.'

------------------------

Sounds to me that-

A. He's not going anywhere soon.

B. We should be seeing a new Veron this coming season. (provided he's fit to play-fewer injuries)

hope so...

It's all well and good saying that, and I believe his sincerity, but, he has to produce on the pitch otherwise it's all to no avail.

I hope his injury niggles are gone and he is able to gel with the team this pre-season. The man has a lot to prove this season after last seasons disappointments and a woeful WC.

Come on Seba

he's got the talent.. lets hope he silences his critics and ABUs next season.

I've always stood by Veron (ask yaps ;) ). Admittedly, I have knocked his performances now and then, but I truely believe he can make a massive impact next season.

I believe in Veron too and have (unlike Blythy) ;) allways been 100% behind him.
All he has to do is play a couple of decent games early on and hell be the dogs bollox again,
most football fans are far too fickle

I think that if his injury worries are put behind him and he gets a good run in the team (ie not holding him back for European games etc) then we will see the true Seba

It must have only been his various "injuries" that held him back last season...

No doubt he'll be the best player in the world next season as was predicted here last summer...

;)

Still did better then Veron though.... ;)

exactly, he played one good, one poor, and finical football fans slate him. Michael Owen & Heskey get mild treatment for bringing shame to two England shirts 5 game sin a row.

He didnt shame it with terrible performances of goal scoring impotency what ecer he did. Keano has more support in Ireland than Heskey does n England, says a lot doesnt it.

So basically all the Man Utd players had good world cups and all the Liverpool players were a disgrace?

Fantastic...

Do you think he might have shamed the shirt by refusing to wear it?
Or did that fill you with pride?

Go Keano Go!

no, he shamed it by not turning up at all.

heskey and owen's performances at the world cup were generally very well received by the majority of english people. . .

Errr... no they weren't From people in the pubs, to the press, and tv pundits, were all criticising Heskey, and while they weren't impressed with Owen were all saying its just a matter of time before he scores.

i said generally pretty well received. owen did well with what he got to feed off and heskey worked tirelessly as usual with little or no supply due to the midfield's painful inability to pass the ball to a bloke in the same colour shirt.

anyway, we digress - back to veron. . .

Steven Gerard let England down more than Keane did Ireland in that case. Gerard could have operated last xmas but influence helped put an end to that.
Keane was going to play through the pain barrier, before Irish Public enemy Nr I Mick Mack put an end to that.

I would think it would be very difficult to supply a player whose natural instinct is to defend, i recall the term "Defensive Strikers", Owen and Heskey need to watch Rahul and Morientes, Ronaldo and Rivaldo, RVN and OGS these strikers create openings, lose markers, follow up and most importantly SCORE !!!!!!!!!. I wonder whats the worst record for a Striker, who plays first team. Surely your donkey must be up there with them Greats.
Strange no one Praised the supply during the Germany game.

Have No Doubt JS VERON will be back to prove his critics wrong.

Heskey too will be back probably warming the bench now that they have Diouf. I am sure then u will hear what the scouser really think of there donkey.

Yeah no one praised the supply at all did they?

Idiot

One match (5-1) does not win you a world cup.

:)
Does anyone know how many important goals Heskey has scored for England...not counting friendlies?

1 against Germany ; 1 against Denmark....

Go Seba Go!!!

What the feck is that? Go Seba Go!
I hope you jest.

Are you lot all a bit miffed that Veron decided to keep his winning attitude under wraps until now?

The fifth in a 5-1 win and the third in a 3-0 win. Superb.

Anyhow, claiming Seba 'let his country down' in the WC or something is absurd. No matter what someone here says, he was excellent against Nigeria and won MOM. He played badly for 45 minutes against England, and then played well when he came on against Sweden, but not enough to turn the match totally around.

Hardly a big flop. No bigger than the rest of the team.

yeah sure

That would have been smart...coming into a club like MU and spouting out about how he's going to create great things in his first season with the likes of Keano and other tight knit groups of players that have been with the club for years.

So, yeah, I do think it's time he had a voice of postive motivation. Even if he does wind up playing shite...how could it hurt the club?

The nay sayers such as yourself will see soon enough, Charlie.

So you think it would have been wrong to have a winning attitude in his first season because Keano and the others would have thought he was rude?
Phew....for a moment I just presumed it was because he was shite.

But a long way from star of the tournamant as predicted on here..

Its interesting that whenever any criticism of Veron pops up you Mancs can only answer by having a pop at Heskey..

So you don't rate Heskey at all, but think that Veron is fantastic..but simply injured, unlucky etc yet the two are comparable?

Daft cnuts

Previously stated before last season, and before the world cup..

Change the record.

Perhaps you should wait till he does well as opposed to this blind faith

Whereas you've got more variety in your replies; i.e. having a pop at Veron OR Forlan
