Wilfried Zaha - Sold to Crystal Palace

I dont understand how it happened if like it seems, he's not focused enough. Sir Alex always said we scout people and their attitudes extensively and Zaha was seemingly on our radar since our cup game against him/Palace a couple of years ago.

Its sad that he didn't get to play more, it was an unfortunate transfer for both parties, it does impress me that United decided to make a quick decision this time around instead of keeping him in the club for 3 more years.

Ian Ladyman just wrote this his time keeping and his training was awful, so hard to blame Moyes/Van Gaal for lack of chances. Didn't really do anything at Cardiff either but seems more comfortable back at palace. 3 million rising to 8 isn't that for him either.

I always got the impression from him that he was more concerned about his tricks and personal play rather than the team, I could be wrong but I don't see him improving that much or even being a premier league player.

It more annoying the fact we waste money on players like him and powell. Why didn't we scout this guy properly if its his so called poor attitude that led to his downfall.

Fecking awesome bit of business for Palace. Sell him for a fortune, then keep him to the end of the season after they sold him to help get them promoted. Get him back on loan again one season later then make the loan deal permanent for 20% of what they made from selling him in the first place, while they're still in the Premier League. Kudos.

He basically spent most of his time as a United player at Palace anyway. What a waste of money.

 Palce made us look like absolute mugs on this one. Made a huge profit and he actually played for them a lot since the deal was announced and pretty much never for us.

Zaha, Powell, Bebe, over £20M wasted.

Pretty daming.

At least we got a few quid back on Zaha & Bebe, like the deposit on the empties, I suppose.

Terrible signings. Was Zaha that bad?

Sure i remember someone at Arsenal signing a 6 year deal, Chelsea too. Obviously this information is useless without names... anyone know?

That's the thing for me. He rarely played for us, haven't seen him at Palace. We seem to have disregarded him quickly, might have been shocking in training.

Palace have done well here.

Good player with bags of talent but that story about not showing up to optional training should haunt his top top level career. Seems like he didn't have the attitude to cut it above Palace's level.

Another English player who possibly got a bit ahead of themselves and didn't realise there's more to playing for a top club than the transfer and the contract.

Does anybody know if Van Gaal revamped our scouting system? I know Moyes talked about it but I don't know if he had chance to implement his plans. De Gea aside (kudos to Eric Steele), our scouting has been abysmal over recent years with Zaha near the top of the "money pissed up against a wall" list.

Seriously, though, the next time we sign Zaha from Palace for way over his value, Palace had better be ready for some tough negotiating. I can see Palace insisting on a sell on clause which means that the next time we sell Zaha back to them we basically pay them for the privilege.

Teddy Woodward's family motto is probably "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on the manager."

Had hopes for him. If SAF would be still manager he would develop him way better, I think.

Yeah, bizarre signing in retrospect. He obviously needed stability - he stayed at Palace initially after all - Fergie would have been the right man for that job.

Changing managers twice (and a loan to a third club) during that time was a complete disaster for him. Hopefully for his own sake he sorts himself out back at Palace.
