Why the shift of strategy?

Bold of you to assume United have a strategy to begin with.

It's just the board thinking Ten Hag is a miracle worker then realizing with this rate we're going to finish bottom half so splashed the cash to save their face.

It feels like there might have been an injection of external money.

That or they’re desperate to calm the fans back down.

The stark realization that ETH is a good coach but not a miracle worker and preseason is not worth a penny, especially with our squad. ETH has seen first hand how lacking they are in competitive games, he saw the beginnings vs the two Spanish teams and demanded many signings to inject new blood to help change the dynamic. We see top coaches take a few months during a season to turns things around, ETH has not had long at all

Fear among the owners, mostly. Fear that the club might not qualify for the UCL for two consecutive seasons for the first time since SAF retired. Fear that EtH might even walk if he doesn't get reinforcements. Fear that the protests against the ownership might finally boil over.

Strategy? We do this every year. We spend all summer chasing unattainable targets, the fans get angry, we lose a few games, and then the board splash a ton of cash on panic buys to shut us up.

Usually followed by an announcement about us looking for a director of football, or now we have one of those some other key position.
