Why it didn't work out for Sanchez at Manchester United?

Seeing him play live, i was shocked how small he is
I remember when some posters defended him saying he's muscular even if he's short but I'm pretty sure he was tinier than Licha for me. Or maybe it's the attitude that made him seem smaller.

Weren't they also apparently interested in Maguire and Fred before we signed them? Makes you wonder if they were trolling Woodward by feigning interest in players just to trigger us into overpaying for them  *adjusts tin foil hat*

Well, I must be wearing a tin foil hat too because Sanchez was so shite for us that I'm absolutely convinced Pep and City were trolling us by "courting" him for so long!

And it's happened a few times since, we've "beaten" City to the signings of Maguire and Sancho! I think City are setting traps for us in the transfer market and we're falling for them every time!

In that reasoning, City also "baited" Chelsea into signing Koulibaly. They also "baited" Arsenal into signing Aubameyang.

Imagine if we’d not interfered and let Maguire, Ronaldo and Sanchez go to city.

They would have been either great there or good enough for them winning more things.

Our team had been either badly coached or poorly run, we needed more than throwing money at the problem.

It also didn’t help how unbalanced our squad was at that time.

100%. Let's hope it stops under the new regime.

That was the narrative the British media wanted you to believe. They are City, you really think they got blown away by us financially? And our club got Mourinho back then too, Pep's supposedly "rival". The question should have been "Mou or Pep", not "Money or Pep". And they turned a blind eye to our prestige, tradition in the football world too. We were NOT PSG, like they tried to paint.

City tend to stick to their valuations, and don't get drawn into excessive bids. Same thing happened with Maguire and Cuccurella.

He came to United for a big payday at a Disneyland club, and had zero motivation beyond that. He was the epitome of the Woodward era. Unfortunately for us, he wasn't the only one.

To be fair, it's easier to operate in that way when you already have a full first 11 of world class players. When United is in the market for a player these days its because the squad is utterly bereft of talent at his position, so walking away means either not having a proper player for that position (see RW ca. 2015-2022) or just continuing with the sub-par player filling the spot.

My brother is an Arsenal fan and said months before we got Sanchez that his legs had completely gone, he was ecstatic when we took him and gave them Mkhitaryan in return as Mkhitaryan was probably more suited to Arsenal than he was to us.

It was exactly like Rooney at the end with us as both his and Sanchez’s legs had gone from playing professionally since 16 but also reality is we only signed Sanchez (as well as Ronaldo and Fred) to stop City getting him as under Woodward we had a small club mentality that we were more concerned with getting one over City than squad building to fit a style and challenge despite spending more money.

Totally.

The signing made zero sense to begin with.

Yep. We desperately needed a RW and Martial was in form on the left . Jose signed Sanchez and immediately shifted Martial to the right. It didn’t work so he swapped Sanchez and Martial again. By that point Martial had got the hump and was out of form.

I expected José to at least pick a team where players played their best position. He was changing our 11 on a weekly basis.
