Why can we never beat Sevilla?

Seriously they're our bogey team. Every single time we struggle against these guys. :(

They are just a team with better players and much much better coached.

They know what to do with the ball while our players seem lost with it.

We played them off the pitch last week until the backline disintegrated.

We can absolutely handle them at full strength but the same lot who've been beaten by them before are still massive liabilities when out there.

It's embarassing this time though since they're absolute dross in the league, they're in 13th place ffs

The squad remains deep in cowardice culture and can't handle aggressive teams or stadiums

Because we have a lot of shit players like DDG, Maguire, Sancho, Weghorst, Sabitzer, AWB, and others

Better know-how in big games counts for a lot at this level.

Also United were absolute dogshit that anyone left in the competition would have beaten us tonight. And De Gea.

We have no know-how, game management or technical ability to do well in Europe. They are a seasoned European outfit.

Simple, they’re better than us. 6 seasons on the trot we crash out to a Spanish teams, says enough imo…

Today they showed more commitment, more power, better pressure, better passing, more believe, more courage. How could they possibly not win?

Used to be the same against Villarreal. We will beat these mid table Spanish sides eventually! Have faith

A combination of variance and United not being all that great over this period.

The real question is why can Sevilla even begin to compete with United when you compare the amount the two clubs invest in their playing squad. We apparently have had the best (paid?) keeper in the entire world in our squad for the last few years. Really?

 Mourinho started the whole voodoo jinx thing to cover up his own embarrassment. We only faced them a handful of times.

Individual errors.

I think it comes down to that. I couldn't identify anything especially good about Sevilla outside of the minimum standards of being committed and defending sensibly tonight. It looked like a team of a standard that would employ Lamela as an attacking player. Pretty ordinary stuff.

But they did exploit our mistakes perfectly and deserved their win. If you do the basics well and we play like this then it is totally expected, they're still a top flight football club no matter how much they suffer domestically.

Organization in midfield and in terms of tonight at least, didnt come close to matching their effort to win the ball

We battered them last week before the bizarre end to the game. Should’ve been out of sight. A lot of luck involved over both legs.

We beat Barcelona. Sevilla have been near the bottom of La Liga until recently. We should have scored 5 goals against them last week. They're clearly not a 'better team' per se., that's absurd. Cursed level of injuries in key slots and players just coming back in rusty & terrible squad depth combined with De Gea's general inability to play this style getting shown up by the combination of above shite squad depth and whatever witches curse brought all these clustermistakes together. It is concerning how susceptible, even with rustiness or exhaustion taken into account, how much we crumble under a proper press - two proper, technically good And mobile midfielders to alternate with CasKson definitely required, for a start...

We beat Barca pretty convincingly, Sevilla are 13th. They must have made some sort of deal, they have some weird Europa luck going on. We end up with a big list of injuries including 2 starting CBs, 2 own goals and 4/5 goals are United errors. Joking aside United got what they deserved, Sevilla are just one those team no matter the position we can't beat.

Why can't we beat them? I'd like to apologise to the entire club and its fans and say that I deeply regret that I was rude to the old gypsy woman outside the Alcazar, and though I couldn't understand a word of what she said it did sound quite angry.

People will post the football heritage meme but actually they're indeed a far better and more experienced team than us when it comes to Europe. They can be shit in the league but they know how to get the job done in Europe League.

The current United side has been awful in Europe for more than 12 years with that EL win in 2017 being the only anomaly. Otherwise every year it's a disappointment after disappointment, from CL group exits to EL failure.

Sevilla are a better European team than us in recent history and have more experience.

They're not better than us we played them off the park last week until they got lucky and that luck carried over tonight.

Absolutely nailed it they lack backbone and that ability to stick their chest out in hostile stadiums, until that ever changes this team will remain nothing but also top 4 contenders

The first yes, the second game we were very bad.

A lot of team in Europe can not beat them. They are a good team that seem to be super focused in this EL games.

We should have beaten them this time. Gifting them 5 goals was ridiculous. There's no heritage there.

We scored their goals for them in the first leg. Then Maguire fecks up and we’re a 1-0 down, chasing the game in a hostile environment. Then we get caught via a set piece and a counter because we had to take the game to them. Individual mistakes from defenders cost us in this tie.

Why? Because our attackers are so overrated. Even Leicester have score only 5 goals less than us in PL this season.

If Antony’s shot was 3 inches to the right last week, we would have beaten them convincingly

Don't think they are overrated. Most people have been saying we only have Rashford as a goal scorer.

And Martinez hadn’t injured himself. And Maguire hadn’t headed into his own net without realising. Honestly some of the bad luck we’ve had this season…

We struggle with Villareal too.

Last season was the only time we've ever beaten them wasn't it? Even then it was a last minute Ronaldo winner.

I'd be tempted to say that 5 of their goals were completely our fault and they didn't play particularly well, we just handed it to them.

However I think we all know that despite the mostly solid performance at OT, they absolutely played us off the park last night. Even without the gifted couple of goals they would have easily won, so let's not kid ourselves.

Quickly need to improve the mentality of the squad and the ability to perform away at certain places. Not the first time this season we've had an implosion at a loud ground, but let's not discuss the other one...

We beat them twice last season.

Plus the one last night. And the other own goals.

Those aren't bad luck, they're bad players making stupid mistakes because they can't handle the pressure.
