100% , the same as the best midfielder at the time Scholes was shunted to the left in favour of a Lampard /Gerard combo that never worked. Unless Messi goes on a run of not scoring or assisting then it’s his with ease. If Southgate wasnt an eejit and played Rashford more/ they got through against France he would have had more of a chance.

It's obviously messi's this year due to the world cup taking precedence but if we ignore the world cup Marcus would be the favorite.Unless Messi goes on a run of not scoring or assisting then it’s his with ease. If Southgate wasnt an eejit and played Rashford more/ they got through against France he would have had more of a chance.

Messi has 4 goals 4 assists in 6 CL games and 11 goals and 10 assists in 19 Ligue 1 games so he’s been pretty good outside of the WC too.

Well that's just messi being messi but I'd say Rashford has been more impressive post wc not to mention the teams they're playing for.Messi has 4 goals 4 assists in 6 CL games and 11 goals and 10 assists in 19 Ligue 1 games so he’s been pretty good outside of the WC too.

He wouldn't given Haaland, Lewandowski, and Mbappe all have better numbers - the latter leading his team to a WC final and golden boot. Rashford would be in the top five though.
