He is a leader in the Man Utd mould. Honest, passionate, hungry, a great motivator. With a squad like ours that has done it all, we'll need someone like that.

Only ones who will see success IMO are MoN, Hitzfeld or Sven.

MoN is the only one who can come close to carrying on Fergies mantle though, the rest will just resume their own careers as they have been going rather than continue flying the Utd flag.

Yes I am convinced. It takes much to qualify to the CL if you play in the SPL.

I'd love to see how Hector Cuper would do.. he can attract good young argentinean talent and he has shown his ability to adapt in different leagues..with success at Valencia and now at inter milan

I'm against hiring a manager because of 'who he could attract'. Weather aside, If we can't attract a given player now then there's a problem.

I'm just saying that Hector Cuper can manage a team very well..in addition to that.. he can attract young talent becauseof his nationality..many young arg players moving to eu would feel more comfortable under a manager from their country..help them adapt

I am a fan of Cuper, particularly his defensive strategies whilst at Valencia.

As an O' in the initials department, could I make it clear that Martin O'Neill's initials should read MON, rather than MoN. Thanks.

Raoul, would you really be content with Cuper knowing what a 'notorious' defensive reputation he has? Might threaten United's stirring cavalier footie tradition and all that other media bluster?

O'Leary? O'no!
O'Neill? O'Yes!
No Italians, please.
Other possibities. Bruce, Strachan

I think that SAF will stay on untill the CL final at OT.!

Your are 100% correct in your assessment. I like O'Neill because he will be around long enough to care about developing our own talent. I don't want an old manger coming in here to furthter only their list of accomplishments and not care about the clubs long term development as well. Having said that, I think Hitzfield would give us the imediate best chance at CL glory. But, I think in the long run he does not have the right personality to keep the players here happy.

Obviously the quality is lower, but at the time they were in really bad shape, hence the manager got the sack and **MON** got the job. They went on an incredible comeback to win the all domestic trophies.

But dont forget that the competition between Rangers and Celtic is very fierce. What he did would be comparable to Man Utd being top of the league by 10+ points only for 2nd placed Liverpool to comeback and win everything.

More importantly though I reckon the passion he AND his team showed in Europe won me over.

in this order:

1)
Hitzfeld (won 2 CL's, one with a normal team at the time -Dortmund), been to plenty of CL finals. Master tactician, plays attacking football and has excellent man management skills, as he had to take over Bayern Munich, which had a major dressing room and player problem, he sorted it all and won CL.

2)
Martin O'neil, excellent motivator, and man manager. would have no problem with fergie as technical director, and would keep most of our team coaches in tact. would be very fergie like in the sense he takes no shit from any player.

3)
SGE Modern coach plenty of lleague experience and about same much as MON experience in the CL. excellent motivator, and man manager.

4)
capello, similar to hitzfelt in the homours department, has also managed Real Madrid, and would sort our defence out.bit boring sometimes though, Roma is known as the liverpool of Italy i think.

Bring back Big Ron, and if he doesn't want it I reckon we should poach Thmpson from Liverpool

Naw mate...get the Doc back, with McGuinness as coach! (His wife could entertain the Doc while the team where training)..Nudge...Nudge..Wink...Wink...Say no more!!
;) ;)

Hitzfeld, Eriksson, O'Neill in that order.

If not, Capello or O'Leary.

NOT VAN GAAL!
Any change in opinion? After all, you're 13 years wiser...

Great what can surface after so many years.

I would accept anyone of the usual suspects except Van Gaal. His last two efforts have hardly been worthy of conisderation for one of the top club jobs in the world.
The only two guys still going after 13 years and both of you definitely didn't want LvG.

And the tiny threads and handful of posts. Big thumbs up to how the Caf has grown and developed over the years.

No memory of that. I even bolded it which meant I really felt strongly about it. Can't for the life of me remember why

Good find!
