God, that knockout setup looks mouthwatering. I really hope the games turn out to be as exciting as the group stages, because some of the potential match ups are awesome.

Why it's called a miracle. Not going to happen again. Plus they are the kind of rubbish that hasn't been seen in the last sixteen of a world cup before. The have no redeeming strengths other than a 36 year old who can ping a ball from 30 yards.
Just seen that out of 14 teams still in competition, only four have been winners in the past. Brazil, Germany and France on one side of the draw, only Argentina on the other. It would be really great to get a new champion this time.
If Colombia can knock out Brazil, they have a good chance. Alternatively, if Netherlands gets past Mexico today, I can definitely see them winning the World Cup.

Argentina vs Netherlands semi finals look nailed on, unless Belgium can get past Argentina in the quarters. Don't think either will have many problems vs USA or Switzerland, likewise Netherlands with Greece/Costa Rica.
On the other side, it's a toss up between brazil and Colombia really, and then France and Germany. Can't see any of the favourites getting knocked out in the round of 16 as they're just quite a bit better then the opposition they'll be up against.

I would love to see Columbia winning this , or Germany , the others teams are just pretty boring to watch. (except France but I hate them too much)
The right side of the draw is completely wide open imo.
Did think Argentina, and have money on them, but now I've no idea. Not confident they'll win it but there's no standout candidate at the minute.
I am not impressed by them so far and I'm not sure if they can overcome Belgium.
Think Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Netherlands will win the quarter final draws. Standard favorites in the semi finals.

Cheers! Exactly my thoughts as well, thinking of placing a large stake on an accumulator for these 4 teams to qualify to the semi-final.
There must be at least one upset in the QF. I can see either Argies or Brazil going out...
At this stage, one has to look at which sides are playing well or gradually improving from the last performance. Only France and Columbia seem to stick out like a sore thumb in that regard.
I hope Colombia or Messi wins it. Imagine the dancing if Colombia won it.

Me too but it looks like a lottery right now. Any of 5 teams could win it if they put a couple of performances together/get the breaks.

I've had Argentina from before a ball was kicked, and I'll stick with them. I think they'll inflict "Maracanazo" part 2 on Brazil.

Argentina is a slow team with huge problems. They play the same way in every tournament in the last 10 years and lose comfortably against all of them. They have no chance against Netherlands. I'm going to bet big on it.

The Netherland's defence is also very weak to say the least. It will be probably a matter of who can outscore who. Robben vs. Messi - yeah baby!

Sabella vs LvG. Hmmm, it's clear who is winning. I see the Dutch having much more problems with Belgium than with Argentina. I also see France as a major threat would they come to the final.
No doubt that LvG is the better coach and tactician, but to disregard Argentina like that and claim Holland will beat them 3-0 is a bit naive.
They have been training to score behind the goal... Bit strange but they might well have some secret weapon in the back of their pockets. This looks like a session open to the media so they might be just showing off. Remember they complained in the group stage that spying drones have been flying over their training ground? LOL)

I voted for Columbia in the most recent poll. They're just a really likeable team, who play football exactly how it should be played. I would love to see LvG win it, but if he wasn't the next United manager, the football purist in me would of voted for Columbia.
Before the the WC, I had my bet on Argentina. Even though they don't convince me, I can still see that happen. In the other half of the schedule, the other big favorites will kill off each other, so Argentina has a potentially easier road to the finals.

If the ref wont influence the game I see Brazil - Colombia game go either way. However my bet would be on Colombia. I see Belgium beat Argentina, they show better teamplay with a good defence. Germany-France, is hard to predict, but I think the Germans will pull it off in the end. Personally I`d love a 94th minute goal from the Germans against the French.

Everyone in Holland is very optimistic about our chance to maybe even go all the way. Normally this optimism is what bring us down rapidly. However, the few players in the team such as RvP, Robben, Sneijder and De Jong(who will stay for support), all experienced South Africa. They all stated to be very vigilant on preventing what happened there and make sure the youngsters keep their 2 feet on the ground.
It`s a strange world cup where anything can happen. Betting big on anyone to win is probably not very wise unless you can miss the cash..
