Early contenders:
  1. Varane
  2. Martinez
  3. Eriksen
  4. Bruno
  5. Dalot
  6. Mctominay :wenger:

Martinez looks box office but defensive players getting POTY is usually an ominous sign.

I know what you mean, but Martinez was POTY for ajax last season when they won the league and got to the cup final. I think VVD was also POTY when Liverpool won the league.

at this moment it’s between Eriksen and Martinez. At the end of the season, maybe Rashford and Antony will surprise us.

Martinez, looks like he is crowd favorite and also the impact he has made on the team is obvious.

Apart from those already mentioned, I expect Sancho to go up a level or two over the next few months. I can see him reach 10+ goals and 10+ assists in the league come May.

Personally think Sancho is closer to riding the bench than POTY

Eriksen or Martinez
Agreed. Eriksen's importance to the team cant be underestimated. Utd do need to find a understudy to him and get that player in jan window. If eriksen gets injured or fatigued utd are in serious trouble.

My guess would be eriksen or martinez. I think it will be one of the new lads. Dalot may be surprise contender though… he should win most improved player award if there ever was one

It is made for Eriksen barring any injury. Even his 45 minutes against Real Sociedad on Thursday showed how important he is now to this team. The comeback story as well just makes it almost inevitable that he will win the award.

Martinez is quickly becoming a fan favourite but feel like there will be a few more hiccoughs this season when he comes up against the top strikers in the league. Jesus was a massive challenge last weekend and Haaland is on another level to him. I am very glad we bought him and he has improved our defence enormously but still do feel there are errors to come as he adjusts to the league.

I thought that this season would be the year Sancho really kicks on but it doesn't appear so far that it'll happen. I think there is more chance of Antony becoming our star attacking player and grabbing games by the scruff of the neck rather than Sancho unfortunately. I'd be absolutely delighted if Rashford was in contention but, despite the last few games, I just do not see it being sustained over the course of the season, not least because of his recent injury record.

Varane if he stays fit. Otherwise probably Martinez or Eriksen.

My outside shout is Martial if he comes back soon-ish and stays fit. Optimistic, I know.

Im going to say Sancho. He'll get to play a lot of games from the left side with a promising left back partner in Malacia. Once we get that left side working and they get to know each other it will be our strongest side. He'll see a lot of involvement if we can keep teams in their own half and will probably rack up a bunch of assist, if we improve our attacking shape through the season.

It's going to be Martinez or Eriksen. I can't see anyone else coming close right now but early days. Hopefully a few others come into contention as the season progresses.

Martinez or Eriksen. I hope it ends up being one of the forwards, but I can't see it.

So far Eriksen or Martinez are favourite but I think Bruno will come back to his best and maybe Rashford and Martial ( if he is injury free) will spark again….

The way it it going at the moment I would have my money on Scott
He is looking like the heart and soul of the team and while the prima donnas are either throwing their arms in the air or the expensive recruits are struggling to come to terms with a style of football that requires speed, power and intensity Scott is the player in the centre of the park that meets the opposition head on and is up for the challenge.

If any of our forwards players hit some consistency (20+ goals and assists combined) it will probably be them. Bruno would be most likely imo, although a few contenders potentially.

Eriksen another possibility. Think in his role it will require him to maintain a high number of assists or pre-assists, as his passing is deadly but he's not a Jorginho or later Scholes who will rack up a 100+ passes a game.

Defenders have to be really dominant to win it. So far I think the back four have done well as a unit and some good individual performances but not individually dominant. Martinez may win it if we struggle for goals, although I think he's more likely to win Players' POTY than Fans' POTY as generally players give more recognition to defensive minded players or players who set the tone, even though fans love a warrior type they generally vote on goals and assists. It's no coincidence the year Vidic won it was when he scored his most goals in a season, on top of being a defensive monster.

Apart from those already mentioned, I expect Sancho to go up a level or two over the next few months. I can see him reach 10+ goals and 10+ assists in the league come May.
And what makes you think that?
He did feck all in his first season and all we heard then was that he was not ready for the Premier League and needed time to adjust but then we heard the counter argument that he was English and he had played youth football here so he was used to the conditions and culture and he also had good stats in the Champions League so he would be and asset there.
Now he is into his second season where he has had a full preseason where he looked good in the nothing games but was one of the players that played most minutes so he should have a really good idea of what ETH expects of him.
I can only think that you are still waiting for him to show the form that he had for Dortmund and show that in the Premier League but that is not going to happen until he gets a yard quicker and he lifts his workrate and from what I am seeing he is going backwards in that regard.
Where are all those fecking morons that were saying he was a generational talent and were declaring "Sancho Day" as a day of celebration for the club??
