Yeah, it's strange, that's for sure. They have been such a good run club over the years, selling off their best players but normally making things work in the market as well as having excellent youth recruitment. They've got a top manager - and they've had a couple - and yet they seem to be far more financially restrained than just ensuring sustainability. I don't know too much about their ownership though.

I would have thought that the supporters would take convincing. If there's a slight chance they can appease the supporters a tiny bit, it's by professionalising how the club is run with an eye to a future sale.

He's saying the Brighton CEO won't be taking the job and infact mentions Semmens and Webber, with Webber having no experience of being a CEO.
 
I think Arnold or Judge getting it would be met with massive criticism, since they’re Ed’s Uni mates are they not? (and almost certainly were in on it too).

Norwich or Southampton guys sound good. Very well ran clubs.

Aren’t those guys more DoF’s than CEO’s though. But who wouldn’t want a promotion.
 
It will be a promotion for Arnold, both keep it in house and his external connections both finacial and media
 
Should be Edwin. But it probably won't be. I just hope it's not another banker.
 
I think Arnold will take the job. Then we'll have the usual media spin saying how this guy is a true football person, whose been here since forever and will understand the club.
 
A question that no fan will actually be able to give any sort of relevant answer to...

lack of self awareness on that one is incredible. Darren Fletcher aswell
 
Richard Arnold would be an awful choice and would be rightfully canned by fans from the start. He's just a lesser Woodward.

Having said that at least he would be somewhat qualified, not quite as grim as the Darren Fletcher promotion.

I don't think it's going to make much of a difference. If we get someone more competent maybe like VDS, we would be better.

The best possible name for me. Would come in and be able to work with the current set up, without making too many changes and upsetting the apple cart.

He's proficient in business and the marketing side of things, and we know his abilities on the footballing side.

I don’t get why we’re obsessed with this idea the only people fit to work at the club are those who used to play here. I hear the canteen lady is retiring, got to give it to Silvestre, he’ll know where the stash of crisps are hidden.

i just want someone competent. Couldn’t give an toss if they’ve played for us or not. Both for dinner lady and executive vice chairman positions

It’s quite a new thing though isn’t it?

Maybe if the Caf was round in the 90s the clamour of ‘Give it Clayton Blackmore’ whenever these vacancies at the club arose would have been aired but I suspect the sentiment didn’t exist.

Also think from board room to dressing room its potential problematic having so many non playing staff whose primary qualification for being here is having once played for us. I get it to the extent but my worry is that it’s all a bit League of Gentlemen.

I think this idea there’s a ‘United way’ is a fairly recent invention that’s a fast track to stagnation. Though this relates more to the coaching staff

Well on his watch they’ve developed young players, sold their best ones, won the league, got to the final of the EL against United and reached the semis of the CL. Not bad for a ‘small’ club. He’s done a great job

Indeed.

I was wondering more the actual nitty gritty of their financials, though. Dramatic financial turnarounds, lucrative deals with chocolatiers, etc.
 
Considering the amount of vitriol Woodward got for being a Glazer puppet, any sane man would stay well away from the poisoned chalice.
