Who replaces Ten Hag?

I said De Zerbi weeks ago on here and everyone that replied to me responded negatively.

I have no clue what you are all expecting, perhaps a Klopp/Pep love child with 3 trebles and 5 champions leagues to arrive on a plate?

De Zerbi is a progressive attacking possession based coach that is doing incredible things with a team that sold it's best players in the summer, while you have a gormless wally from Holland. They annihilated Spurs on Thursday.

Get De Zerbi while you still can.

Guaranteed the leeches wouldn't pay the compensation it would take mid season, then again there is no way Brighton would let him leave

He's done great for play style and goals for Brighton. We maybe should go for him instead of Potter who would be a means to an end for someone like De Zerbi.

If we can get the board fixed and utilize the recruitment, we do scout and recommend many good players but managers and the current board don't act well or in time and bargains go begging. I think a new structure and De Zerbi would be great.

Just put an interim manager in charge till end of the season. Can't be worse than what's being served up now. That'll also allow INEOS to make their appointments and find the right appointment at the end of the season.

Do people really believe that there is not a single manager out there who could do a better job than ETH?

Yes. Because anyone who comes here becomes shit. Anyone with caliber wouldn't choose to come here anyway, so we will be going dumpster diving for sacked managers who probably won't fare better than ETH.

Anyone up for Iraola? I know he's a punt but he' seems to know how to coach a side and a Bournemouth level of team is probably the only type of club we could pry a manager from mid season. He doesn't have much pedigree but he has the fancy name that can go some way to making up for it. Plus he's actually a young promising manager, not an ETH 'young'.

Who would you like to see?

I think this is a pretty disingenuous question to ask the fanbase. I don't think anyone here watches enough football to be aware of all of the managers around the world and who the promising managers are. There are people whose full time job is to know these things and make decisions on them, they should be the ones this question is asked of. The fanbase don't need to know who replaces ETH to know that the current job he is doing is not up to level and he should be replaced.

Based on how their teams are coached to play, I would prefer someone like Sarri to coach/build a team for next 3 years. Trophies will follow after. Maybe Ange from spurs.

Only a complete clear out of the big names (no chance whatsoever) would see Potter work here. His brief time at Chelsea tells you he needs a Brighton like dressing room

Nah. Chelsea has been a disaster club, not sure it's fair to judge Potter on just that spell, and that job doesn't dictate that he's not cut out for it.

Honestly, wouldn't mind RvN. I know he's coming from the Dutch League, but had a great first season with PSV and would be fine as interim, might even boost the morale in the short-term.

Simeone is a top coach but the style of Football will get looked down on here

I think just giving it to one Wally with a Brolly for the rest of the season would stabilise things a bit, I wary of giving it to a beloved club legend. We know how we get when they string a few wins together.

A coach who plays exciting, attacking football, that’s also technical. I like Spalletti and De Zerbi a lot. I’d also like Emery too, if he could be prised away from Villa.

I am not averse to giving a young coach like McKenna a chance either. Love the way his Ipswich team play, and he’s familiar with the club.

People will turn their nose up at him, but Potter wouldn’t be a terrible choice either. I don’t think the Chelsea debacle is on him at all, although he’s not as exciting as some of the other coaches. And he’d been lower down my list. Yet still an improvement on Ten Hag. Gary O’Niell is underrated.

Whats clear is that we need to hire a coach that plays out from the back, likes to press a lot, and is into free flowing attacking football. And then hire all our managers in that vein. As much as I admire coaches like Simeone, and to a lesser extent, Conte; their football is too pragmatic and dour for my tastes.

We are always told that United is such a big beast, it needs a special manager. But I think that’s only the case if the support structure isn’t there. If we hire a best in class DoF and Head of recruitment, such as Ashworth and Mitchell. Then we can hire a coach who can just focus on coaching.

The one name who’s a bit of an engine for me is Zidane. Big game, big club manager. But I don’t know that building something from the ground up is his game. We’ve never seen him do it, so it’s hard to tell.

Make no mistake about it, I am serious and it's not sarcastic, I wouldn't mind Big Sam as an interim manager.

At the very least he can coach top class defend and counter attacking football. This team is good at counter attacking. It's an improvement under ETH, where we can't defend, score and no midfield at all.

Potter for me he is premiership proven, and flexible in his set up which is what this squad needs.

I really hope all 3 of these are satire

Nope, I'm dead serious. Many have had enough of ETH. Hope Sir David too. The football is horrible.

And the solution to that is hiring a manager who was booed then sacked at West Brom and Palace for his shite football?

Not sure why I’m biting because now I know it’s satire

His football is better than whatever style of play we are playing now. At the very least, he can coach a good defence. For an interim, he is acceptable. We have made Ole interim and then permanent manager lest you forget. West Brom and Palace have different players then compared to us now.

I know he is not one of the best name we can think of but ETH is completely out of his depth.

I would imagine that Brailsford would have, or at least be working on replacements for Ten Hag already. I can't see him going until the summer, as the new 'football' owners take full control which is approximately 2 months, so beginning of March, so the current manager has until then to prove that with all his missing players available again he can get United playing good football, which hopefully would translate to wins.
I'm not certain that he can.
We seem so easy to play against, which was so obvious from the first game against Wolves he should have beaten us comfortably.
I'm hopeful that Brailsford, somehow, can select the right man (I don't think United are ready for a female manager, yet). There are a number of names that appear to be in the hat, but it's so important to get a manager that can develop a culture of good attacking football, keep bringing academy players into the mix, and create a happy workplace that everyone loves to be involved in.
With Ratcliffe, Brailsford and whoever else comes in to run the football side, creating a much more football orientated atmosphere, and hopefully creating a buffer between the current regime, and the football side, it would certainly help a new manager.

There isn't a single consensus at all here, most of the managers names being thrown around are midway through a successful season for their respective clubs - they aren't going to let anyone go for cheap. So then we pay millions compensation to release the manager early from their contract, they join part way through the season with no access to transfer funds, they can't get the team going as most of them are dross and by the end of the season the media is calling for their heads. Might as well wait till the end of the season and let ineos and co get a feel for the club and what's needed. By which time half the squad should be back fit.

It really isn’t better football than now. He lasted 30 days at Leeds this year

Hiring Ole full time was an error

Id take Ten Hag staying all day over big Sam or an equally shite interim

The new football structure need to start and plan early for the new style of play, new manager, player signings for next season. These planning and negotiation need to start now.

We can't be like under Murtough where we do everything last minute. One or two defeat at the start of the season cause them to throw 80M at Antony or 60M at Mount and etc.

I hope the plan for next season don't include ETH.

My fear with Potter or De Zerbi is that they are simply decent. managers operating under an elite scouting and transfer structure at Brighton.

I wanted Potter before Ten Hag, but looking back I think that he would have failed, purely because the set up behind the scenes was not like Brighton, and would have been similar to Chelsea.
The reason I would probably give Potter a chance would be that Ratcliffe, Brailsford etc would get the set up right, with positive structures in place to enable us to develop from within, to create a scouting network which enable us to spot upcoming talent (this may already exist), get rid of some of the older players who may not accept a new managers ideas, and create an enjoyable environment for everyone.
I believe that we had a decent set up under Ole, with both Carrick and McKenna on the coaching team, but I'm certain that the club hierarchy were determined to sign Ronaldo, primarily to sell shirts, which undermined Ole, and stopped us developing. Ole was not a coach, and tried to change our 'philosophy' from a counter attacking team, which patently did not work, and he was not a long term solution.

I know people say everyone's allowed an opinion, but sometimes I do wonder if that should be true. I hope you're wumming.

If that statement put out by Ratcliffe is sincere, then he and his team will already have a shortlist of candidates drawn up

No manager will solve this club unless there is a serious change in upper management. Our recruitment has been horrible and that is a core reason for our failures

I think Erik Ten Hag is one of the best managers around. He has shown at Ajax that he has the the tactical acumen to excel.

So I've no idea what has actually happened at United. We had a decent first season under him, but everything that we were at good at last season, we've been awful at this year. Can't score, can't defend, even line up properly.

We've run through so many managers that I think it's an 'Us' problem rather than a 'him' issue.

No idea how we resolve it though.
Yeah I guess it’s our fault we keep picking McTomminay and we have the worst offensive and defensive stats in the league.

Unfortunately until we sort the board out, DoF out, the scouting team out and alot more background figures out we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes. I don’t see any other manager that is available just now improving much other than a short term boost and then we fall back into the same problem of where we are just now

Im for changing the manager if that isn't the only fix. Change the manager if we can get the right candidate, but fix the club as well. We're past a miracle worker manager who comes in and turns it around.

I started to think we should hire NCAA coaches with discipline like in the movies for a year or two to get the mentality right.

Only then we move on to big names

At the current rate the malaise has seeped so deep the next manager would get eaten alive by these bunch of players

To be fair every single manager since Mourinho have all picked Mctominay for whatever reason. ETH isn’t the only one guilty of that.
