Who replaces Ten Hag?

Is a move for Alonso completely out of the question? Yes of course Liverpool would have the emotional edge over us, but what a project this would be for him professionally, to return United to its rightful place among the powers of world football. Or is his stated commitment to Leverkusen beyond question?

Man another season under baldie would be too much to take. Rather watch flies feck than our excuse of football.

The owners will keep chucking in more scapegoat, cannon fodder managers as human shields so they can continue to loot the team. Besides winning the Premiership in Sir Alex's last year, the common denominator in our last dozen years of being a shit team has been the owners. Chase out the owners and bring in people who don't view the team strictly as a piggy bank. We will NEVER win with the Glazers owning this team and the Glazers will NEVER leave until they've sucked the club dry.

Maybe, though I just don't see it. Wouldn't be adverse to it though - though, like others, do think he might be more of a "small pond" manager.

But honestly yeah, out of the actual "available" options, he'd be near the top.
At the end of the day money talks, both his salary and money for the rebuild. That Villa side is going to be looted or best case scenario be left with unsettled, unhappy players looking elsewhere and if he is not careful he may go from hero to zero in an instant when replacements don't perform as well as the guys they will inevitably lose.

He is not a certified elite manager, what this season has done is put him back in the conversation for top jobs and he'd be a fool to think that by staying he might build something special when it could easily go either way and he is sacked or stuck there for the foreseeable future. Newcastle, ourselves, Chelsea and Spurs could easily turn it around and make it difficult for Villa to compete. A smart man walks away at the end of this season, get a job where you get enough money to compete or at the worst case a big pay off when sh_t hits the fan.

I hadn’t supported sacking Ole in the first place but whatever. I don’t support sacking Ten Hag now, anyone who looked at injury records this season and found 50+ incidents wouldn’t anyway.

I’d say we don’t deserve another great manager until we put the same amount of patience as we gave Fergie in the first place
Yet you want Ole back

Great idea, let's give our next manager 26 years, no questions asked. Hopefully he turns out to be the right guy, otherwise we could be in trouble.

i didnt watch for an extended period of time, but right before he got canned chelsea really did play pretty good footy, just their finishing was absolutely crap.

I don't agree with the point made by that person because the game has changed so much since then and none of our managers have shown anything to warrant such patience, but we didn't give Fergie 26 years to come good, did we?

And the available good managers get fewer and fewer.

I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than have this manager for another season.

So...

Amorim (probably) - Liverpool
Nagelsman - Bayern

Leaves us with options like Tuchel and Potter. De Zerbi staying at Brigthton (?), wonder who Barca go for. Poch could be staying at Chelsea in the end, their results improved recently.

Thing it's not yet decided and still there are good chances ten Hag stays for another season. However, if we keep dropping points in remaining games and don't win the cup, then they'll hire one of Potter and Tuchel. Hopefully Southgate isn't an option.

Sure he would

It's all opinions at the end of the day mate, but I'm willing to bet despite playing ultra attacking football with a decimated Brighton squad they have a better goal difference and concede far less shots.

Ten Hag is deliberately setting us up to press high with a low block. It's insane.

I think we need to think this through, if we miss out on a young manager to do a quickish build with we should look at guys like Mancini, Valverde or anyone of that ilk. Men who know enough about football to do the right thing, make the correct decisions and who aren't married to a particular style of play who can adapt.

This squad, as bad as it is, has achieved three top 3 finishes in the last 4 seasons. The raw materials are there, what's needed now is a manager that can allow us to achieve the bare minimum whilst the structure gets to correct things that have gone wrong which includes getting rid of the poor attitudes and replacing them with players who have better work ethics, physicality and technical abilities.

I would say getting a Valverde/Mancini type in, bolster the squad to make it competitive for next season and then go about signing young talents and scouting the right long term manager could be viable strategy.

Pretty much. He so far a has picked his jobs carefully to ensure his own personal development and will now be able to lead his record breaking team into his first CL season. He won't leave, and we also have other indicators for that like Bayern's DoF Eberl just praised his loyalty (as an explanation why Bayern won't be able to get him in the summer). He might still come to United, but not this summer. So he shouldn't be the one to replace EtH.

feck it. Let's get Tuchel for a season or two, and then reassess the manager market. We will se how De Zerbi, or indeed McKenna, will look then, maybe there will be a real promising option among them or elsewhere.

I do not even dislike Potter but he seems a bit too low energy for the job.

I've said it before - England win the Euros and Southgate's switch to United will be seen by Ineos as a statement of intent. Chances are we'll still take him when England get KOd in the QFs.

A lot of people dismiss Southgate out of hand and I’m not his biggest fan but hed sure as shit set them up better than ten hag and get the best out of Rashy and Maguire

Oh feck off! We really are going to end up choosing between that gimp Southgate, Potter or Tuchel.
In the real world it’ll be someone Berrada wants and someone they think will help build us towards title challengers

Tuchel of that list had the best shout. Southgate and Potter won’t be considered in the real world

I think Luis Enrique’s name will come up when we actually do have a vacancy

No he wouldn’t, He doesn’t even seem to rate Rashford. We’d probably end up signing Jordan fecking Henderson and Eric Dier.

Unlikely, but just throwing this out there because I don't really know jack about his situation ,aside from what I've heard on podcasts. Would Xavi be interested? Seems like Barcelona weren't very supportive of his goals for the team and recruited players that didn't suit what he was trying to do.

To me seems a good option given the managers who appear off the market now.

That said, I think ETH gets another season.

Well Tuchel certainly got a point to prove after getting sacked at Chelsea and most probably losing his job at Bayern soon as well. His Bayern tenure hasn't impressed me (though Leverkusen have been amazing as well) but liked him at Chelsea - not only for that 6 months period where they won the Champions League but 21/22 season - solid league season finishing 3rd, got to 2 domestic cup finals losing both on penalties against strong Liverpool side and getting to last 8 of CL where they even got close to knocking out Madrid at Bernabeu. Also at PSG - he got them to the CL final, that's the closest they've got to winning it yet. He's 50 with large experience at big clubs and in 3 different leagues. CL winner and a finalist.

So I like your idea.

Dier always available for Bayern and Henderson would probably be able to keep up with runners in midfield.

Better than Varane who’s always crocked and Casemiro whose legs are shot.

Rashford seems to actually score for England

Wow. I’m not sure if this is legit, parody or what but really, just wow.
