Who replaces Ten Hag?

Maybe. But I don't like they idea of a bunch of people continuing next season. And we know them. And we know they'll give their all in the next 2 months to impress the new manager and then revert to being awful.

Most of this squad will be here next season regardless of us enjoying the idea or not. Best of us to work on this basis.

Is what we hear every summer. At some point it will be needed

We don't need to do it in one summer. What we we need is a long term plan and strategy of improving the squad over the course of next few years rather than our random transfers.

Absolutely. But it but dragging this out over several years will make things for a new manager really hard. We need to act hard and fast

Reckon we need 5 new names in our starting 11 next season at least.

I would sell maybe 5 -6..
Maguire, Scott, Amrabat, Casemiro, lindelof, the backup goalkeeper..
Varane .. injured all the time..

I've seen too much evidence that Tuchel isn't the right man

De Zerbi and Potter are about equal for me, I wouldn't be too excited about either.

Nagelsmann much the same but I don't think his Bayern tenure was indicative of him much like Potter at Chelsea.

Alonso is non starter imo

My only hope is that the next manager won't build the team around players who can't feckin keep the ball at all.

It's kinda amazing to see how players that earn so much get dispossessed so easily or just give the ball away needlessly.

Time to get a manager that values possession if we're ever going to see a change in performance.

Amrabat is on loan, he is not ours to sell.
We sure need to sell Scott, Eriksen, Victor, Shaw, Harry, Antony and most importantly Bruno and Rashford.

Mount deserves a chance.

The good news is we literally cannot do worse than Ten Hag no matter who we bring in.

This is a free throw in NFL it can only pay off. There is no downside

Nagelsmann had a 71% win rate at Bayern overall, won the titles and cups and Tuchel has already lost more matches than Nagelsmann ever did with Bayern already. I don’t see why people think Nagelsmann at Bayern was awful for any reason at all.

Would love to see us bring him in in the summer.

He was dealt a bad hand at Bayern but you could say so was Tuchel. Tuchel has more of a history in top jobs and I'm not convinced by his performances there. His biggest success just seems to be a new manager bounce at Chelsea and sounds like someone who falls out easily with people. Plus some of his Chelsea signings boggle the mind.

I'd give Nagelsmann a chance but I don't think he's that much superior to ten Hag on paper.

As I said, he'd come into a better structure so he shouldn't be stretched beyond his means.

We say that after every manager and then United surprise us all with even worse level under the next manager. We thought we would never see a worse season than Mourinho last one, then we saw the Ole/Ralf one. We thought the later was the rock bottom, but current season is ever worse!

So I won't hold my breath.

I thought we couldn't do worse than Ole... and we did. I thought we couldn't do worse than Woodward... and we did.

There's no bottom here, I don't think.

It's not needed and it isn't possible either.

We have a lot of good players who are either out injured right now, or look like bad players because the environment they play in isn't ideal.

Maguire, Martínez, Mount, Fernandes, Rashford, Hojlund, Malacia, Garnacho, Dalot, Shaw, Onana, Mainoo, maybe even Amad, Hannibal and McTominay.

These are all players who we can count on going forward either as key players or guys who can play a role in a top team but not as a regular starter.

It’s time OP set up a poll. The tide is definitely turning against ten Hag now and it doesn’t seem like INEOS will want a new era to involve the failures of the past. Poll should probably include Nagelsman, Potter, De Zerbi and….Mourinho (ha!)

Reading your list made me throw up a bit. I'll take Mainoo and Garnacho. Maybe Martinez if he can stay fit for once. The rest are not good enough or nearing their 30ies. Nothing to count on going forward.

Someone who values possession.

I care less about possession than I do about control. We don't win any duels, get outran all over the pitch, and waste the ball when we have it. I want to see a team that can control and exude pressure on a team relentlessly even if we aren't just knocking it around the back hoarding the ball. Even watching City today they weren't sitting with the ball hoarding it, they were constantly probing around our box finding spaces and getting shots off.

Anyone that still thinks Rashford, Bruno, and Maguire can be key players for a top team that we can count on is delusional

You're wrong, I can assure you of that.

There’s not many I’d turn down right now to replace ETH. He’s beyond useless. Todays toothless and pitiful performance just highlights how he doesn’t understand the league or the opposition. We play worse in games against rivals than we do anyone else. He’s so far out of his depth it hurts. One of our worst managers in modern times by a country mile now.

I hope we're having a good look at Thiago Motta at Bologna. What he's doing there is more impressive to me than what De Zerbi has done at Brighton.

Took over with them 16th and led them to 8th, and has a good shot at getting them CL football this season. De Zerbi took over Brighton with them already shaping up for a good season and in the top four, and now has them bang midtable.

What's clear is there is fundamental issues that would be hard for someone like Nagelsmann or pretty much anyone bar Pep to overcome. He needs good tools to work with and help to acquire them. We need much improved training for players, technical ability and helping players coming through improve on passing and possession. Rashford and Garnacho are very limited products of Manchester United and should be much more rounded players.

ETH has shat the bed but another coach even if better will be hamstrung without wholesales changes on buying and training better. I'm sure it's coming from the people now running the club. I don't think ETH has enough to bridge the gap in the short to medium term. I'd say Nagelsmann and Enrique also relying on the health of Bayern and Barca at the time but we still need to improve on ETH.

The spending has been spectacularly bad, one of the highest wage bill for this end product is woeful. ETH and the club have gone about this entirely wrong. He gave the club a roasting before taking the job on transfer choices but has done equally bad.

unfortunately at man united players are given huge contracts for not really doing much. They can go (at the age of 21) from playing in the German league on a fairly humble (in footballing terms) wage to being one of the premier leagues highest earners. Also we still have players in this squad, in this dressing room that were here 6 years ago. The younger lads (rashford) have also grown up learning from these players. It’s a continuous cycle.

Also the top level is filled with accountants rather than footballing men so it’s kind of fitting that we’re a giant cash cow/commercial money machine over a football club. Have been for years.

I don't disagree but we've already got rid of 50% of the squad at least twice since 2018. It didn't help so obviously a squad culture issue wasn't solely the problem. Our biggest problem is we keep hiring mediocre or past it managers.

Personally reckon ten Hag should be granted one more season with the incoming Ineos arrangement in place.

He's had his excuses this year with injuries, personnel issues and John Murtough's high-end recruitment policies.

Granted, he isn't blameless for our current mire, and his position should commence next term as being tenable, but, well, who is the replacement?

Potter? Nagelmann? Tuchel? Lopetuigu? Motta? Sporting Club do Portugal dude? Neil Lennon?

All the best coaches are spoken for and the replacements either underwhelming or about EtH's level.

That’s a good call. I just watched the second half of their game away to Atalanta and they were pretty impressive.

Absolutely no chance. He is a tactically inept manager who has the most worrying stats of any top club in world football. The amount of shots he concedes and how easy he has made us to to play through is absolutely scandalous.

He has no real personality, no direction and is a manager already in his 50s. He isn’t going to learn and he has shown us what he can do.

It absolutely is not an option to start another season under a new regime with this guy at the helm. It would set such a bad tone for their tenure and they know that.

No amount of organization behind the scenes could make up for how poorly we are set up and how many mistakes he makes in game. He just isn’t the guy and most people involved in the game would think very poorly of INEOS from the off if they think he is.

We need to completely change how we try to play with and without the ball, the squad needs to be gutted ruthlessly and rebuilt.

The likelihood the next manager can do that and survive long enough to be successful is pretty low but we need someone to at least start steering us in right direction and not just revert back to the dross every manager post SAG has served up.

I see absolutely no reason to continue with ETH, he’s a dead man walking and keeping him beyond this season would be a huge error.

Yeah, one of the reasons why he'll surely get the sack. If INEOS didn't take over then even a 3rd season for ten Hag would've been a possibility.

Oh come on pal, at what stage this season have thought we are defo moving in the right direction? Be honest? Aside from a second half against Villa, I'd be struggling to come up with an answer.
Our faults are so obvious to everyone - it literally gets commented on in every game, yet he does nothing to address it. He shouldn't be in charge of putting the cones out at training, let alone the team for Everton next.

Whoever it is, will surely be better than the utter shite we've appointed over the past ten years. Well, with us, you never know...

What was the stat at the start of the game though, highest win % of any United manager???

Personally I think what Potter did at Brighton is more impressive than Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim or Motta at Bologna. And it was much of the same job that needs to be done at Man Utd.

People tend to favour those they dont know.
