Who is ETH criticising here?

Ended up watching the whole match. Was expecting the first hour to be champagne football and the last 30 minutes an absolute shit show. In reality, we probably created more good chances in the last half hour than the whole game up until that point. We pressed higher up the pitch before the cavalry came on in the 61st minute but that was really the only thing we did noticeably better.

Not sticking to the game plan has long been a problem for us. Doesn't do much for my confidence to hear this is still a problem.

At least that's the end of the silly tour. Needless travel.

We should stay in England some summer and see if it helps with preparation.
Money and the leeches is why we dont do that. Surely every other year we could stay 'local'. Fly out to say France for a game fly back 4 days later fly to Holland fly back Spain, Germany etc etc.

Players were a bit slow and clumsy especially Rashford. ETH really needs to start playing his first line-up players with proper formation more now. I know that the squad players need match fitness too. But we have to make sure the first team is in good shape for the up coming fixtures which is close. Slow starters don't do well anymore for years now in the EPL.

Was everybody obviously bad? Did none of them play well?
The team was sloppy and looked a bit haphazard. We made some decent moves. Bruno came with 2-3 clever balls, made a few mistakes, typical of him. We could have capitalized I think.
Something was wrong with Shaw. He looked visibly tired pretty soon after he came. Hopefully he is ok.

When I was watching, I was particularly annoyed by Bruno, Rashford and Casemiro but that's what they do, so I'm not sure what exactly ETH expects of them. They'll never be suited for the football he wants us to play. They're counter-attacking players and they're very good at it. But to ask them to keep the ball and build up patiently, or press, is like asking Maguire to be fast and handsome. It's not fair.

He'll end up with posters in the general thread moaning about his negativity if he keeps coming out with stuff like that.

Given the season is around the corner though it's good that he's clear on his standards.
Ugghhh can't really have that. Worst trigger for conflict are positivity and negativity. Get him out, if he is getting out of control

Probably because there were nearly 15 subs all told around the 60th minute mark which completely disrupted the flow of the game?

I would love to hear anyone telling that excuse to ETH :)

They did not play team game, they went for long ball trying to find Rashford all the time. It was pretty stupid most of the time, but when it worked it was a chance. I think the problem with first eleven (or what we think is the first eleven) is that too many players are not game ready. Casemiro and Shaw are totally out of form and probably need more time, Bruno and Mount need some time to work together, and Rashford is lively but still not in the best finishing form. In two weeks everything should be fine I think, and certainly having Varane and striker will help.

In my opinion he singled out the last 30 mins not only b/c of the poor play but because his expectations/demands are higher for those players considering they are his starters. However, the whole match featured the two problems that have plagued United for years; mistakes at the back in giving the ball away and inability to convert chances at the other end. This is my worry with playing Sancho in the striker role. His passing ability is good but he lacks that killer instinct in terms of finishing. The same goes for Pellistri. While his overall play was good, there were a couple times where he had the ability to get a shot off in decent positions and he held back, instead opting to pass.

I thought that. Just too much trying to force it and lump Rashford through on goal with 80 yard passes, which I'm guessing is what ETH was getting at, but then we basically had one midfielder and 5 forwards so not sure what he was expecting. You can't press or build attacks as a team if you aren't set up as one. I'm worried he thinks Mount is a central midfielder. Eriksen plays in midfield, Mount plays on the edge of the opposition box. You can't really swap one out for the other.

Also possible he was just peed off at the second string getting it back to 2-2 only for the first team to concede a dumb goal and feck up all their chances.

First hour was fine given the team we had out, but it's pre season.

Yeah, I've noticed that during the summer, anyone on the Caf who disagrees with a transfer or doesn't think everything is all sunshine and rainbows (whether relating to transfers, preseason performances, or anything else) is immediately labeled a "moaner" and has their concerns hand-waved away.

Didn't he say that standards where no where near where they should be when he arrived? Can only blame the previous managers and the captain for allowing that to happen.
