Not at all ! I was talking about Fab's personal problems, I don't think he lives with Ferguson ! I was refering to what he has said recently about Fab "I have said to him, like others: "If you have problems, come and see me whatever they are.'' I always try to find the word or the action that allows the problem to be eradicated or at least taken off his mind. Fabien and I spoke a lot and made it so he stored the worrying elements that can harm his performance in one part of his brain. "

I wanted to say that Fergie was aware of his problems, that's all.

And you 20 lot that have voted to get Panathinkosywotsy are a load of big soft wet pussies! :D

The thing is that right now he's back to his old self, and if that was the case then, we wouldn't have lost to Deportivo! The scousers all think that Deportivo are better than us because of that and all wanted to avoid them, but it just wasn't true. We lost because of three cock-ups, and ones we wouldn't make now! WE WOULD WIN NOW, because.......

WE'RE THE BETTER TEAM!

I don't deny he made two mistakes, but I wanted to say that he had made some great saves too, and that fact shows the game wasn't SO easy because they had occasions ! That was my point in that thread, I didn't want to speak about Barthez.

we know we can beat the Greeks so why would we want to play other teams who have beaten us every time they have played us this season?

And this is a thread about who we'd like to play next round?

The Greeks thanks.

SAF Quote from BBC.

"Well it depends on how Arsenal do and I think we'll get either Arsenal, Liverpool, Porto or Panathinaikos," said the United manager.

"I think the important thing, though, is that we have avoided Real Madrid and we will take whoever we get.

"We're in the quarter-finals and we're happy to be there.

"I just wanted to avoid Real Madrid at this moment in time.

"I think it would be great for England if they could get three teams in the quarter-finals, but I wouldn't say that was the reason why we are in European football.

"You can't pick your opponents and if we get Liverpool or Arsenal then fine.

RE: Barthez - what is the problem? Only a blind fan can say he didn't make some silly gaffs this year, the matches against Depor, Arse and Liverpool are clear proof of this. That doesn't make him a bad keeper, but I would prefer it if he didn't clown around as much as he does.

As for the draw, Panathanikos would be the best we could hope for. I don't mind playing poo, but I'd certainly take the Greeks first.
I hope we avoid Depor, they really have impressed me. I can't see us beating them over two legs, they play a neat, quick passing game that is hard to cope against.
So, lets cross our fingers and hope we get the Greeks.

you have to remember that if we had beaten depor back than, we would have been drawn with Arse, Juve, and Leverkuzen in the second phase.

Dont be daft, two teams from the same country cant go in the same group stage!

And anyway, that wasn't the point, the point was (if any of you big wet pussies who voted for that Greek team have actually read the arguments in this thread) that Deportivo are probably the easiest team for us to get in the QF! They are not as good as we are and we should show them that they were lucky and only won because of our defensive cockups!

GOD, WE CAN BEAT THEM!

If they are that good, then we will have to play them at some point, SO WHY NOT NOW!

And if we loose, we will probably get knocked out by the winner anyway, like we usually do!

BOLLOCKS, if we want to be the best, we should not have fear of taking on a team that thinks that it might be able to be the best in 5-6 years (ohhhhhhh ring a bell somewhere scousers?) ;)

Think of the confidence boost it would give our lads going into the semi against either Liverpool, B Lever, or Barça ( impossible to know until the draw is made )

I do give credit to those lot who want the scousers in the QF - you've got bollocks you lot, but I'd rather see good European football (again - not a match against another team 60m down the M62) and remove one of the "thought of" better teams from the equation in the process. The one thing I really would not like is a single match against Deportivo la Coruña - THE FINAL, let's get rid of them now!

If we loose, we loose, and never desrved be declaired European Champions - yet again! :D

BUT WE WILL WIN!

Jens, that's not worthy of you! Anyway, Fab. knows what he did so he'll be more inspired to put it right.

And am I just suspicious - or does anyone think Deportivo didn't exactly go out to win last night?

Culpable, culpable, I suppose you never made a mistake in your life ? Those who wanted to sack him are stupid, happily Fergie is more clever and know you can't judge a player on a few games.

Elfie, knock it off with this b.s. it is getting tiring. Barthez is a great goalie, no doubt, but he also cost United some major points. And, don't criticise others for judging players after a few games. As I recall, after Euro2000 for one, you said Toldo wasn't a very good goalie because he let in one goal against France by Henry that he probably should have saved. So Toldo is shite for getting scored on and Barthez is brilliant despite making loads of errors. Interesting that....

BTW, I think Deportivo would be the most difficult match, Liverpool next and Panathanikos third, so ideally, we will be drawn against the Greeks. It would be tougher down in Greece, but a victory at home would easily be expected.

I'm surprised anyone would want us to play Liverpool. I'm sorry to say this but I think we need to be honest with ourselves and get out of this mental barrier or taboo that stops us from admitting or saying anything positive about them. I think they are terrific. I think Liverpool is very much harder to beat than Barcelona, Deportivo, Bayern, Arsenal or even Real. That's why I fear them.

Liverpool's game is about lots of hard work, although they are not exactly short on skill. Their industry is an excellent counter against even the most skilful teams. I fear that flair and skill may not be enough to beat them, unless they have one of those off-days, like when Barca beat them at Anfield. But these aren't too many, so don't count on them.

However, there is a solution: Work harder than Liverpool during a game and we will beat them. The key to beating Liverpool, I think, rests with the midfield. We must work hell of a hard in midfield, fight and chase every ball, and do lots of off-the ball-running. If we work harder than them, our flair and skill will BURY them.

A further point to add: Liverpool's defensive reputation tends to cause teams to lower their guard during games against them. It is a mistake Man Utd should avoid making, as Liverpool's attacking prowess is tremendous (it's not just Owen or Gerrard; they attack superbly as a team), although it may not be so obvious to the casual observer.

I am only being honest with myself and sharing some of my fears. For those who think Liverpool are rubbish, I hope you are right. If we meet Liverpool, I hope my fears are proved wrong. Liverpool is currently the strongest team in Europe, but I hope they win NOTHING this season. :D ;)

I've never said that Toldo was shite, and Henry never scored against him, it was Wiltord and Trezeguet. I just mentioned that he could have saved the Wiltord goal, because everyone was raving about him.

I don't say Barthez can't be criticized, I just try to understand why he made those mistakes, and I remember that some said "sell the French bastard" etc... He deserves some respect.

It was Wiltord, that is what I meant to type. As for understanding why he made the mistake. Well, we don't need to examine his inner mind and try to determine whether he did it on purpose or not. The fact was, he made some serious mistakes, and he needs to avoid making them again. I don't agree with calls for "sell the French Bastard" but nor do I agree with constant defending of a player who cost United some much needed points.

There's no question he did that on purpose ! After those games, he stayed locked in his appartment and refused to talk to people. How do you think he felt ? Anyway, that's the past, no need to repeat again and again that he made mistakes. He knows that and has been working hard to come back at his real level.

Even worse to do it with Keano's name - these scouse windups are f*ckin stupid thinking that its not obvious when they use their first post on a United forum to either criticise United or praise Liverpool. Ban him and give me that username!

We as fans believe our team (Manchester United) are the best on the Planet, so in my opinion. Bring on any one you damn like we will beat em.

IS it between Liverpool and Panathanaikos now? Can we play Deportivo in a qualifying round again?

Reality is that you are a Scouser. As for hard-on, the last time you probably had one was when Liverpool last won the league.

predictions:

United Vs Depor.
Real Vs Poo
Barca Vs Bayern
Leverkusen Vs Pana
