Who do we have to worry about leaving after this seasons done?

Forgot about Januzaj - he's not getting games as it is, and with his profile I expect there could be an agent in his ear making suggestions of generous new homes. He does have a good number of years left on his contract, but that probably wouldn't mean the club getting decent value from his sale on past evidence.

City played Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool. Not 4 relegation candidates and 1 decent side. Just sayin'
Swansea and Leicester are going to be hard teams to beats this season and I would say it's very harsh to call them relegation candidates(Although I agree we should be winning those's games.) but my point was more that no one should be predicting how this United will be at the end of the season based on 4 games.

 Jesus. We've played 5 (five) games. Let's see what the situation is like come January, OK?

I'd tentatively add Di Maria. If this season tanks for whatever reason, I'd be slightly worried about PSG returning for him. I imagine he thought he'd only be giving up a year of CL when he joined us, and if it looks like being longer, he may become unsettled. As for Rooney, I'd be more worried about him staying than leaving.

Di Maria signed a five year deal, so it expires the summer of 2019. We can sell him during the summer of 2017 for full value. He's here at least 3 seasons (including this present one), barring something insane happening.

I'd say the real core of the team in terms of likeliness to be here 2+ seasons, based on contract length, age and talent is:

Rooney, Januzaj, Di Maria, Herrera, Blind, Shaw. and Rojo, who are all here until at least 2018 and can thus be sold at full value after 2016.

Also, as people have said, our competitors for 4th have started slowly. Last year, 73 points would have gotten 4th. I think Chelsea, Citeh and Arsenal will clear that fine, but the winner of the battle for 4th between Liverpool, Spurs, Everton, United - and let's s be generous and respect Southampton's start and include them - might only need 67 or 68 points, and we could surely do that. Liverpool are a mess defensively, Spurs have a new manager and have started inconsistently, Everton have started poorly and look likely to be competitors in the Europa League without a huge squad and Southampton will drop off.

We got 64 under Moyes and we've added an actual midfield (at least going forward) in Di Maria, Herrera and Blind, as well as contributors in Falcao, Rojo and Shaw. Against that, we've lost Rio, Vidic, Kagawa and Welbeck. Also, Van Gaal for Moyes. Should be enough, though I can see why people are panicking considering we look miles from Arsenal, Citeh or Chelsea so we basically have to win our mini-league not to miss out on the CL again.

I do think we should be watching every Liverpool, Everton and Spurs game the way we used to watch our title competitors, praying for dropped points every time they played.

Even if we don't make the CL these players have signed big contracts with the exception of Falcao, but it depends on how he connects with the club and fans I imagine, although I am sure he is desperate to play CL football. Rooney will never leave and I don't see Mata jumping ship by choice. Blind and Herrera have both just joined and I feel they'll be down for the scrap.

My two concerns would be De Gea and Adnan, the latter I'm a bit concerned about in general. With De Gea he is primed to take the Spain #1 shirt and needs to be playing CL football, with his contract down to a year we could be vulnerable to losing him.

Especially as there seems to be doubts about cassillias being the no1 at real.

I reckon one way or another Januzaj's agent will start trying to force him out if he doesn't take a spot in the team by the end of the season.

I think RVP is the only major doubt and possible DDG if he get any interest from one of the big European teams, other than that we are OK.
Falcao is only on loan I dont expect him to stay longer than the rest of the season.

It's way too early to think about possible worst case scenarios. Sure, we capitulated against Leicester. The next couple of months could see a few more freakish results against us too while this side learns to play together. You have to remember that 5 of our new signings have not played in the premier league before so it's a huge learning curve for both them, and the manager.

Saying that, i also think we will smash a few sides with our attack.

As long as we are still in touch in January, we will possibly add another CM, and CB and push for a strong finish to the season.

If he wants game time and wont be getting it here (though who knows he may force his way in by the end of the season) then I'd like to see him loaned out - La Liga, Seria A or Bundersliga - could be the making of him like Courtois and when we do bring him back he is first team ready.

It's called speculation, same as talking about which players we will sign in January or next summer.

Its easier to talk which players we'll buy in january then what player will perform and how and what will happen will him this year.
A lot depends on will we grab CL spot or not.

We'll finish ahead of Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Spurs and none of our first team players will leave. We will let go some fringe players again although we don't have that many of them anymore.

We speculate about all sort of things on this forum. Heck every game we have a section where we try to predict the line up, the final score. Each season we try and predict where United and all the other clubs will finish. Who will score the most goals etc. So this is just one more form of speculation, trying to predict what might happen.

Given the contractual situations, only De Gea worries me, having only two years left on his current deal. As for our so called 'stars', I think they're on too much money to kick up a fuss. The only way is down for Mata, given his booting from Chelsea and potential for being dropped while at United. His stock will be low. Di Maria and our summer signings have only just arrived. Rooney isn't getting half his wage at any other club and Van Persie is 32, on big wages, with a sketchy fitness record.

As mad as it may sound, even if we finish out of top four, albeit I think we'll make it, I still think we'll be in a position of power over the majority of our squad.

Yeah the wages could be one issue if any players want to move, we have already swwn that this past summer to a small extent. De Gea's contract situation is an issue that is a bit worrisome.

I'll right, fair enough. I'll give it a go. :)

De Gea - We should sign a new contract with him. I wouldnt panic about him being unhappy or sthing, who would be happy in this kind of situation for a club.. If we dont get CL I could see him go though esp. if some Spanish club comes for him. For a time being I think its all right but as I said we should sign with him a new contract.

Rooney - I can't see him going anywhere nor LVG pushing him out

Mata - People are panicking too much just because he was dropped for one game. He will get plenty of gaming time I think and he's the one we shouldnt let go and I dont think he will want to leave us.

Falcao - If he will be good this season I think we should buy him but as I understand deal is in place already, it was just a loan deal this year cause it suited PSG better or sthing?

RVP - If we dont get a CL spot I could see him go, but where? He isnt his old self but maybe his form will rise and he will lead us to nr. 4. :)

Januzaj - He will be a sub this year it seems if nothing changes, question is will he be impatient and want to get a starting place somewhere. Him leaving would be a big shame..

I could see some of our defenders bar Rojo leaving if we get a defender or 2 in januarly (hopefully) or in the summer.

I'm hoping we see the back of Evans, Valencia, Young, Cleverley, RvP, Anderson, Fellaini and Fletcher. We'll probably still have Young, Valencia and RvP on our books and lose Mata instead. I'm hoping Januzaj doesn't get tired of warming the bench.
