who could replace our tiring Keano

Not Butt, as has been said, he is just not good enough!

Fortune has potential,
Davids would be awesome but I cant see it happenin
Viera, not in this life time
Djemba, seen him a few times, doesnt do much when i see him!
Van Bommel, my Num 1 choice.
Baraja, heard great reports but never seen him
Parker, havent really analyzed him too much but could be ok.

Parker turned us down years ago and I cant see why he'd join us now as he isn;t better than anything we already have. Van Bommel may be the answer, he's certainly a good player and Baraja is also excellent but would he leave Spain cos no doubt Barcelona will be recruiting in the summer. Davids is too old (at 29!!) with his best years behind him. How about O'Shea and Scoles in the centre with Aimar playing being Ruud :D

I believe United have monitored Papa Bouba Diop of Senegal since the World Cup. He has come out in the press as saying United keep in touch with him. He plays for Lens and is like a beefier Patrick Vieira.

Davids in my opinion would be a good player for us

Davids transfer seemingly more likely 25 Apr 2003

Premier League sides Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are all hoping to snap up Dutch international midfielder Edgar Davids' now that his club Juventus have said no to his wage demands. Davids, whose contract runs out next season is believed to be demanding €3.8 million Euros per year if a two-year extension or to keep his current €2.8 million per year if Juventus offer him a five year extension. Juventus are not prepared to match David's demands and have now inquired by three Premier League clubs and one Spanish outfit as to how mush they would be prepared to pay for the Dutch bull terrier.
Juventus have also lined up Glasgow Rangers captain Barry Ferguson as a possible replacement for Davids who is believed to have a €11 million Euros price tag hanging around his neck

from Dutch Football Site

Kean may play for a long time. Fernando Hierro started his career as an ofensive midfielder, when Antic was coach in Real. He was top scorer in Spanish League most of season, and he finished second.

And now he's a central defender, he's near to 36, and Real doesn't want to let him leave.

Kean could do well such a thing.

I've been saying that for years, but not many here will have it. They are coming around to the idea now though! :)

Also, I said that Baraja is the only similar player that I can think of to how he used to be, and I've said that for ages, now people are coming round to that idea also.

I think that I still have problems in convincing them all about Denilson though! ;)

No Senegalese please!

Result of signing senegal players: see Liverpool.

except Vieira of course!
:D

Can we see how Keane starts next season before we write him off please.

By that time he will be as fit as he's going to get and then we can be a tad more objective.

I'm not writing him off. He can keep playing for 3 or 4 seasons for me! But the day he's leaving us, I think Ballack would be nice...

If valencia dont make the champions league next season (celta vigo are very close in 5th)... then they may have to sell him... quality player and im sure they wouldnt want to sell him to barca or real...

100% agree

I think Keane will be back too actually. I think he needs the summer to recuperate and that perhaps the rumours of his physical demise are very much premature.

And Nedved is 31 soon...... ;)

Nedved isn't facing a hip replacement op in the future though is he?

No, but I'm not sure that Keane can't recover from his op. The game yesterday showed he still has it imo.

Nedved, great player though he is, would be considered too old anyway I fear.

I agree actually - he looks a very special player.

Jenas wouldn't be the only one I'd take from them either. They've got strikers coming out of their ears, ameobi would be a good 4th striker for us, or Bellamy as 2nd choice.

Don't agree - we could do better than those two by a country mile.

Don't think Jenas or Nedved are the type of players to be getting their shorts dirty in the centre of midfield though are they.

BUTT is an honest, tough player, but we need better. Makalele looked the part in the QFs - tough and with more skill.

Viera - it won't be long before old Patrick is on the down slope himself. He's picking up more injuries (past 2 seasons) and could be in Keano's position sooner than we think.

jenas seems to be a genuine box to box midfielder, just needs to beef up.
as for nedved  never been a box to box-er

it could be another possiblity ...

:p :p :p

I think it's time for Keano to pack his bags and leave. He doesn't have it anymore. It's plain for all to see. You should know when your time has come. Keane should be shown the door if he doesn't.
