Who are we getting to replace Rooney?

Andreas Pereira (Hopefully he grabs his chance once given and we don't have to sign Griezmann).

Griezemann is the man when we can do it. For now, we don't really need to - we have plenty of players who can play the no.10 role. Pogba, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Lingard and Pereira will probably all play there this season.

Title correction: Who are we getting to remove Rashford and Martial from the wings.

Griezmann was the perfect replacement for him but that deal obviously didn't happen. I wonder if Mourinho sees Martial as another striker option. So far there have been no rumors linking us with another attacker apart from Perisic who is a winger.

Lukaku is his replacement. They are both blessed with great power, pace, finishing, drive and desire to win and are not famous for having the most delicate technique, but are both very effective players who get the job done (in past tense in Rooney's case). So I'd say Lukaku is more a Rooney replacement than a Zlatan one.

He's not been a striker for us recently has he?

We do need another forward option but it needs to be someone better than what we currently have. Preferably someone who could play on either side.

Rooney as in number 10 who can add creativity and some goals with flair plus solid injection of marketing glamour - James Rodriguez is a complete package. (Doubtful we'll get Dybala or Alli anytime soon and Griezmann so far shows his heart is with Atleti.)

Lukaku strikes me more as a classic Andy Cole type striker, perfect number 9 with finishing teams off in mind. Mata, maybe Mkhi would be decent but I don't think Jose would be 100% convinced at the moment. Pereira is a different story and this tour may be crucial for his career. If his talent explode he could save Woodward some cash.

If Morata wants to leave and show Madrid that he's clearly better than Bernzema then he and Rodriguez pose realistic targets for possible number 10 material.

EDIT: Angel Gomes sooner or later will knock on first team door... time will tell but that would be mint.

This is like when people asked who would replace Depay and Schneiderlin in January.

This is different, those two played about 4 games between them. Obviously Rooney was only a squad player and we dont need to comment on his output, but he played a significant number of games last season.

It will be £267m including add ons. Furthermore its been discovered Barcelona owe Utd £2.67 from the Hughes deal and a fiver from when they bought Pigue off of us, which when you add in inflation actually means we will have to pay £300m for the lad. #LukakuLogic

We have lost a forward option. Regardless of how he performed last season.
I agree. I think it would've been Griezmann in the sense that, like Wayne, he could play all across the attack. Who knows now. Maybe we'll wait for him.

So frustrated with the atletico transfer ban, These spanish clubs are breaking the rules to get young talent already at their clubs. He is wasting one full year.

Rooney's playing time last year is heavily focused on the start of the season when Mourinho was still assessing him and the end of the season when he played the dead rubber games. Take those away and he was one of our least selected senior players along with Shaw and Young.

Without question, Dembele. 2 footed, can play either side or as a 10. Scores goals, creates goals and generally just scares the shit out of defenders. What's not to like? Think he would have to be first choice signing now. Add him to the mix and we are looking extremely good for a serious go at PL next season.

No no you are forgetting the Rawk and Bluemoon logic of including his wages, so at $450000 a week (because why not mix the currencies up at well) he will actually cost us 1 Billion dollars to buy outright.
