Which transfer fees have shocked you the most?

What's your name Hindsight Harry? Yes the fee was massively overblown, but they had just got an equally ludicrous £50m for Torres, and at that time Carrol was smashing the Premier league up and was central to England's plans.

So don't act like it was a mad transfer itself, just a bit too mad in fee

Carroll was the sixth highest goalscorer in the fecking Championship the previous season, he had a decent half season in the Premier League and he looked like what he was: an old-fashioned target man with mediocre ability. He clearly wasn't good enough for a team with Champions League aspirations.

Liverpool should have kept the Torres money and wait until summer to get an actual quality striker in, especially as Carroll spent almost the entire second half of the season injured anyway.

All Liverpool signings tbh except Torres and Alonso...

Hyypia shocked you? suarez too? You were shocked by Babbel on a free? Abel Xavier for 1m got you out of your chair? Heart skipped a bit when Voronin signed on a free? Could barely believe it when Arbeloa signed for 2m?

Nope. Moutinho went for 25m while Rodriguez went for 45m. Probably Moutinho would have gone for a bit higher and Rodriguez for a bit lower, but Moutinho had a clause that for every profit Porto made from his signing (they signed him from Sporting for 11m if I remember it correctly) Sporting get 50% of it. So likely they toyed a bit with the prices of them.

Aargh, that makes sense, that's right.

So I should edit my original post. 45m euro for Rodriguez!!!

Carroll was by far the most shocking transfer to me.

Bale could top it if he goes for 80m+ though.

Personally, I thought Enrique was worth every penny of his £7m or so, fee.

Even for free Voronin was a waste of money.

He was alright...

Annoying, because of his fatness, laziness and pornstar looks, but alright overall, if you must have a freebie 4th choice striker.

Bergkamp - Couldn't believe we had signed him and spent £7.5mill which I think was a British transfer record at the time

I remember being so Jealous at the time....was and still am a massive Bergkamp fan. Also David Platt for £4.5 million, I was torn between feck that's a lot of money and feck, hes a bloody good signing

Hypia, Abel Xavier, Voronin and Arbeloa? LOL, I wish I could say they were good enough players, but I can't.

Well yeah, so why the shock?

Also, Hyypia wasn't good enough?

Hyypia wasn't that bad... In fact, he was quite awesome. Liverpool could really use that kind of experience, today, to create a solid partnership with Agger, imo.

Downing for almost 20m was far more shocking.
