Whether for good or a bad, a buyer getting an absolute bargain or swindled out of millions of pounds.

From Eto'o + 46m for Ibrahimvic, to more recently Swansea's acquisition of Michu for 2m.

Carroll for £35million, still sounds like a wind up. Retrospectively Torres for £50million too.

Bebe, although I'm sure there's something other than footballing reasons as to why that transfer happened.

Ashley Young's £18m move.

It initially seemed a relatively high fee, but when you couple it in with it being the last year of his deal, I wonder what you lot were thinking.

Carlo Cudicini to Chelsea for £260k was a great, underrated deal at the time.

Cesc Fabregas for £150k remains the greatest deal of all time.

Nothing will ever beat £35m for Andy Carroll.

At least Torres was a World-Class, or close to it, striker at one point. Carroll has never been above average.

Cassano's move from Bari to Roma?

Perhaps Italians on the forum or followers of Serie A can shed some light as to how that was received at the time.

Not so much a deal as outright stealing(of course United have done the same)

Eric to us for about 1.2million...or something like that. Can't be bothered looking.

Hulk to Zenit - 45M
Mendieta to Lazio - 30+M in 2001
Ibrahimovich to Barca - 50M+Eto'o
Thuram to Juventus - 25M for a fullback in 2001

Carroll definitely - can't see that ever being beaten for absurdity.

I also thought Barca were absolute lunatics for the Zlatan deal.

Tevez to City for £45m seemed crazy in 2009, even in the shadow of the Ronaldo deal.

Back in the day, Sutton going to Blackburn for £5m.

For me that transfer seemed to set things careering out of control. Cole for £7m, Collymore for £8.5m etc

I think you have over priced the Young deal some what from what I remember.

Carroll for £35m will remain the worst transfer of all time for as long as football is still played.

So,e of sunderlands signings. fletcher for 15mill, Adam Johnson for 10mill. West Ham paid high for Jarvis too. Mediocre players at best.

How much for Fletcher?!

Another sign that £20m for Rooney was a joke of an offer from Chelsea

I was somewhat shocked by Newcastle's acquisition of Moussa Sissoko because it wasn't long ago he was seen as a genuine heir to Vieira's throne in football. Prices range from £1.5m - £3.5m but either way that's a steal for a top flight footballer now.

I didn't really know who he was but I was astounded to see us spend £25m on Anderson. To me he was a fairly unknown teenager playing in a shit league. But obviously we got Nani who most knew about and Ronaldo from that league so at the time it was quite exciting.

Even though it was a rather fair deal, the Ronaldo deal did shock me. Regardless of Kaka's move at £56m, I never expected any single footballer to cost £80m, and obviously at that time most of us were under the impression that Ronaldo was going to stay as he said at the end of the season.

As others say, if the Bale deal goes through at over £85m it's up there. It's a scandalous price for him, even though its not his value, but more so merely the cost to sign him.
