I am from Thailand.

The league that is the most popular is the EPL. Second is Serie A.

Liverpool and Man Utd have biggest fan clubs here. Every clash between these two teams there will be thousands of fans who join together to watch in concert type hall where the fans are separated into two sides like an actual stadium seatings of games played on neutral ground.

I am sorry if this is directed only at overseas fans - i am curious as to whether EPL and clubs like ManYoo and Liverpool actually have that much impact around the world.

Calling Man Utd, Man***

anyway here EPL is the most favorite league followed by Spanish league.

La Liga de Estrellas, and Real Madrid/Barcelona

The Spanish do watch and follow leagues from other countries, but they only really bother talking about it when a Spanish team plays in the Champions League. Probably the most popular overseas leagues here are:

1. Serie A
2. EPL
3. Bundesliga

Other's dont seem to interest them at all.

I never call them that in real speach - normally it's just "United" for me, but I like doing that on here sometimes. ;)

u a liverpool fan?

I think in Asia serie A and EPL are the most popular league.
Here in Indonesia, Serie A is the most popular one, giving the media coverage and all, while EPL closely behind.
The most popular teams are the usual ones like Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan have quite huge fan base here for serie A teams.
For the EPL, it's quite simply Man United are the most popular one, followed closely by Liverpool.

I think that it is a little strange that (as is being reported here) in Asia the English and Italian leagues are the most popular, when most people would agree that the Spanish league is probably the best and most exciting to watch.

To clarify it once and for all.

I am Man United fan through and through. I hate the scoushit more than than anything in my life.

And someone please explain, what is wrong with saying ManYoo?

And when did I ever give an impression that I'm a Liverpool fan???

it is true. Serie A in Asia is very popular from my knowledge. Spanish league is not very big because of maybe these reasons:

1. Asian people only know Real and Barca
2. It's too unpredictable for gamblers to place their bets. Gamblers in Thailand especially do not like La Liga very much - because you never know when Real and Barca will lose. But they love spanish sides in the ECL - for obvious reasons - although Real has lost them a lot of money in their last two ECL outings!

Exactly what is says on the tin. If you calculate how many posts you make a day, by dividing the number of posts you have made by the number of days you have posted them in, you are not that far behind giggzy on your daily post rate!

Well, in fact, you are closer to me in reality. ;)

I average 13.3 posts per day! :)

whatever..

i doubt whether you're a United fan.

why can't u just come out of the closet?

nothing more sad than a person pretending to be a United fan...

i swear i'm a United fan.. why else would i be in this forum all day????

just because i make TRUE comments about the team's performance and not lie to myself i cannot be a United Fan? I've been supporting them since i was 12.. so that's 10 years now.. no gloryhunter either coz i started supporting them because of my spite for Arsenal for beating us in '91.

I love Man Yoooooooooooooooo, oh yes I dooooooooooooooooooo!

really? i joined this forum about 9 days ago and i posted 285. that means about 25 posts a day.. :D

and then there's also the editorial...

seems like i'm cruising in terms of nerdiness...

anyway, won't see much of me anymore as my the busiest part of the year for work is coming up.. so my posts rates will be down a lot

i'm hopeful of getting another editorial posted though.. hopefully it'll be as controversial as the last one!

Look at Davo's profile, approximate his number of days, and then divide by his posts. It's high! ;)

Actually, Allsvenskan is the most popular league here (naturally). Which team is most popular is hard to say. Hammarby is most popular with me.

EPL is still the most popular foreign league here, though people recognise that the best football is played in Spain for the time being. By no means certain to me that we are the most popular team. There are many who grew up during Poo's period of dominance who wear Poo shirts. But they tend to be ageing supporters and ageing shirts.

Domestic football is most popular in Russia. As for European leagues, there are 3 groups of fans:
1. Old gloryhunters. They still believe Serie A is the best. Most of them support Milan coz Sheva.
2. Young gloryhunters. They choose La Liga as the best one. Most of them follow Selta Vigo coz Mostovoy.
3. Good lads like me ;) that know which league is really attractive. Unfortunately several of this lads support pool. It would be better if they supported Selta Vigo.

Hi , down here in Australia Man united is the most popular, we have an ethnic tv station SBS that has heaps of soccer, id say EPL 1ST then probably Italian 2nd, plenty of Ities down here
local soccer is dead but Australia is a Rugby Football country, if we ever make World cup then the sleeping giant will awake

another thing, La Liga games starts at 2:30 in the morning, so it's not the most comfortable time to watch footie :) .

It hurts to say this but no one in the U.S. knows about Liverpool football. Some and I mean only a few older sports fans have heard of Man United.Im talking of Americans, not foriegners living in the states.Of course the foriegn people all like the EPL and LFC and Man Utd.

Unfortunately the most popular league in Sydney is Rugby League. The national 'soccer' league is badly organised and I don't know many who go.

Of foreign leagues, English is the most popular. We are easily the most popular side. Liverpool are next but there seenm to be a lot of 'lifelong' Arsenal fans emerging (funnily enough). Leeds are also popular because of Kewell and Viduka.

Lots of fans have no knowledge before the premiership. A lot don't believe United haven't been in the top flight forever. People often refer to us as 'Manchester'. I reckon it shows a lack of knowledge but it is a great way to insult City.

isn't Leeds a popular team as Dicko said? I would expect that since many australians play in the team...

that's actually a valid point.. but then again, ECL games are played at 2:30 also.. so it maybe a little contradictory...

i do know a lot of people who watch La Liga.. but these people are usually more of the EPL fans anyway..

i guess it's a big mix in Asia.. everyone watches every league (except of coz for hardcore fans like me who only watch the EPL and the ECL).

The big influence must also be the gambling... seems like everyone place bets in all sorts of matches here in Thailand.. You would think Thai people don't know Division one, but they place bets in those games too!
