Which current players do you want out before next season starts?

I was going to start a new thread but it maybe fits in here.

My question is not only which players we would want to get rid of, but also how much of a factor does these players play into getting the right manager?

We have spent a fortune of bringing in Ten Hag's signings with Antony, Hojlund, Casemiro, Martinez, Onana, Mount, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Yoro, Ugarte, Zirkzee and Eriksen all supposedly bought of at least not vetoed by him.

Realistically in the financial position we are in, we will need a coach who can make these players function as a team.

The newly acquired players will obviously be a lot harder to shift. Certainly Casemiro with a year left on his deal might be sellable, and Antony will surely be sent out on loan in January to build his value a tiny bit. And Eriksen is out of contract in June. With the others though the only issue is Mount, given his wages and fitness issues. Zirkzee is not on a high wage and has resale value. And Onana, Rasmus, Martinez, Mazraoui and de Ligt have all shown they are good players. Ugarte obviously needs games to show what he can do.

There are a lot of contracts up at the end of the season. It really is a chance to cut those on astronomical wages, and build a more coherent team.

I'm interested in what a new manager can do with some of the underperformers. That said, Rashford, Maguire, Casemiro, Lindelof, Shaw can all go. All on too much money and can't perform consistently.

Start with Rashford and Bruno hopefully. If it up to me, bar the few young one I'll get rid of them all.

It's pleasing that so many people are beginning to see that Bruno is a problem player, judging by this thread. His fans big him up as this incredibly unique footballer who does for us what nobody else in world football would be able to

The question is, why do we want to build our team around a player who's on the wrong side of 30 and has a playing style that we apparently won't be able to replace? We've got nowhere with him and we'll get nowhere with him

We have a bunch of crap players but he's the first one I want to see gone. Rashford as well, he just doesn't seem to have an elite mentality

Anthony should leave the instant the January window opens. Preferably to whatever mid table Dutch club Ten Hag ends up at

Lindelof and Maguire are out of contracts
Casemiro will have still one year on his big contract
Shaw
Malacia
Mount
Antony

Cherry on the cake would be Rashford

Rashford, Bruno would be the first in my list. They have seen enough managers getting sacked for poor team performance. Time for them to go now.

The new manager will be required to get a tune out of the current crop and is unlikely to have much, if anything, to spend in January.

I'd start by trying to move on Shaw, Mount and Malaccia. Whether they're any good or not is secondary to the fact that they can't stay fit. Accept this would be difficult given salary and contract length for the first two.

Main ones for me: Rashford, Shaw and Antony.

Shaw because he's not ever going to play consistently for us. There's plenty of players I wouldn't be bothered to see go, but these are the ones I really want out.

Bruno has been terrible lately, but I'm hoping this was the poor coaching effect.

We shouldn't start the next season with:

- Shaw
- Maguire
- Lindelof
- Evans
- Casemiro
- Eriksen
- Bruno
- Antony

Rest can still play a part.

Want to keep: de Ligt, Martinez, Mainoo, Mount, Amad and Garnacho.

The rest is up for grab if we get an opportunity.

We're 8 points off top 4 with 29 matches to go. If it's as you say, that the only issue was ETH, it should be like drinking water. Especially if all the players are top class and were only being held back by Erik. So I'm looking forward to seeing that all pan out immediately.

Of course I’m expecting a relatively immediate improvement but the reality is that it’s not just like turning a tap. The players have had 18 months of bizarre tactics and low confidence. It will take time for any manager to recover that and it doesn’t sound like we will even be getting in a permanent manager for a few weeks.

If we get a new manager in during the next international break, I think it’s reasonable to think that they’d get the team playing like a top 4 team by Xmas. However, by that stage we will probably be too far adrift to catch up.

Let’s turn this around. If we get a new manager in, and Bruno, Rashford and Antony fire us up the table from January onwards from 12th to 6th, 1 point off champions league, would you be arguing for them to be sold because they weren’t great up to Xmas? Of course not. You’d rightly acknowledge that they were functioning well in the new system.

There’s a lot to discuss today already, as well as with the appointment of a new manager in the next few days and weeks. This topic is premature and likely to be wildly off in light of what the new nanager may — and may not — be able to do with the players he has.

Rashford
Shaw
Mount
Antony

For different reasons. I also don't think Zirkzee is going to be good enough, and maybe not Ugarte, but the jury is out there. Perhaps the latter may be useful in certain situations, but he's not good enough on the ball to be part of a team that is good on the ball.

I expect Casemiro and Eriksen will leave, maybe Evans and a couple of others too.

Exactly. I would add Lindelof as well.

His contract is finally up so he's already a confirmed goner, thankfully.

Maguire will have his extension activated only so we can recoup some fee for him next summer, 95% a goner. Casemiro will also only have 1 year left, 70% a goner.

Unfortunately the rest - Rashford, Mount, Shaw and Antony - will be impossible to shift.

Anyone but Rashford, Casemiro, Eriksen, Lindelof, Evans. Let's stop playing physically unfit/old players in the most physical league on the planet. Maybe if you have 1 who's slow but super amazing at everything else football related like Casemiro maybe you keep him, but sadly Casemiro makes way too much for our FPP challenge club.

Antony, Shaw and Lindelof have no business being at the club. I'd like to think they're realistic ones to go too, even if we have to accept a massive loss on Antony.

But I'm honestly not that wedded to any of them, I feel very little for our squad as a whole.

To be honest it’s not a bad squad . Lindelof will be gone next season and bar Rashford and Antony and an injury prone Shaw that’s all to really get rid of short term

Every slow player out, also the holy trinity - Rashford, Bruno and Shaw.

Never going to happen.

There was that one moment when their contracts were running out but Ten Hag chose to extrend all three of them, placed his trust in them and sealed his fate.

Realistically everyone except
Mainoo
Ugarte
Yoro
De Ligt
Martinez
Garnacho
Amad
Dalot
Mazrouri.
Evans. (Yeah)
Onana (for now)

On the fence about Hojlund. Its like hes just missing something.

Getting to be time to start focusing on replacing Bruno. Pains me to say it because Christ knows where we would be without him since he signed but yeah have to have a plan in place.

Theres a few that I wouldnt have an issue with as squad players like Maguire /Eriksen for the short term while the bigger squad issues are fixed.

Casemiro, Shaw,Mount,Anthony are all needing to go.

Lindelof/Eriksen will be gone anyway.

It probably benefit us if Rashford moved on at this point.
