Which club has done the best business this transfer window?

Europe : PSG or Milan

Prem : united even though we missed Griezmann.

We will know the answer in 8-9 months time. Chelsea, were the obvious winners in the English Premiership transfer market last season. The rest of us also rans.

It's a bit frustrating that our rivals and others are (looking to) signing these exciting trickery wingers. And we're chasing all summer long was fecking Perisic.

I think we've done very sensible business. Lukaku and Matic are perfect for us. And at the end of the day doing the best business doesn't mean buying the most players, it means buying the right players to improve your team. We've done that.

A.C. Milan and Everton considering the amount of players they upgraded is insane.

Think you can only tell by December once you've seen how all the new players have gotten on in their new teams.

Chelsea's business looks a bit mixed. Liverpool's is top heavy without addressing midfield and defensive issues (Ox is hardly addressing any midfield issues). Arsenal are a shambles as per the thread. City have spent a stupid amount of money and it's yet to be seen if spent wisely. Spurs are hard to tell at this stage.

United have brought in proven quality with Lukaku and Matic. I think 3-4 signings would have been ideal to keep things consistent. Lindelof is hard to know at this early stage. A full back or winger would have been nice. Ibra resigning is a good deal too. All in all, I don't think United supporters should be too annoyed - it's been a good window.

Amazing how this point gets lost on so many. Saying a team had a great transfer window is like saying it had a great training session. Both mean nothing unless you show it where it matters. The only way we know who did good business is how they perform throughout the season.

PSG have signed Neymar and Mbappe ffs. It's not even a debate.

white text?

No seriously. They had Walker who wanted out and have replaced him with a player I see as better and younger for less than half the fee. They have also made a tidy profit on Wimmer who is not great and replaced him with a promising young defender. And they have kept all the rest of their squad together. And maybe they will pick up Llorente to improve their backup to Kane. I think that is very good. If not for the possible Wembley issue I would make them favourites for the league I think. City have the best attack but surely they needed a CB? We have strengthened but from a bit far back maybe. Chelsea have let too many go, they are still strong but would struggle if they get injuries.

The best business is not the most business. Everton is a big mixed bag for instance and they don't have a balanced squad.

Monaco have also done some great deals.

No point in discussing PSG.

Its a shame we never got that winger to give us an extra cutting edge, next summer I would expect a RB, LB, CB, a winger and another forward has 5 signings, an extra signing for missing out on this years magic no4 signing. I do think we are pretty smooth and savvy in the transfer market, not panicking with last minute deals get it done early and get them transitioned into the squad. I do love every summer Jose Mourinho does like getting the deals done early, helps the squad and gets the player up to speed on how are going to play.

PSG by far.
Neymar and Mbappe in the same bloody window, it's amazing!

Apart and far away from them you can make arguments for City, United, LFC, AC Milan, Everton and probably a fair few more.

Anybody mentioning Liverpool is wumming.
Not really.
Keeping Coutinho, buying Salah,Ox and Keita.
Sure you'd be better off with a GK & acb added to it (and lb if robertson doesn't step up), but you've had a good and incomplete window like many of us. You needed more depth in attack so you wouldn't fall off if Mane got injuried or fell out of form and you've added that.
United lack a Lb and a winger, and the cb we picked up hasn't looked promising.
City still need another midfielder that can defend.

Again, it means nothing if PSG don't challenge for the Champions league.

It means they have signed amazing players who will be there for a while,if they fail in the CL this year they will be rediculed, but it doesn't mean it will end up as a failure.
Taking Mbappe in front of Real and Neymar directly from Barca means their potential rivals are less likely to be stronger than them (when reals core declines and messi does, neymar and mbappe will still be good to go and settled).

Within the PL, Leicester deserve a mention for me. Iheanacho is a quality young striker, Maguire has looked excellent, and if Mahrez goes then they look like getting a good fee for him. Similarly if Drinkwater goes they have a readymade replacement in Matty James.

Europe - PSG clearly. Signed the third best player in the world and added the most exciting and arguably the most talented youngster in the world. It's not even a debate really.

In the Premier league... has to be City? If they manage to get Sanchez we're in trouble but thankfully that looks dead in the water for now.

United- We were too inactive to my liking, great business getting Matic and Lukaku though. However our options at full back are pretty scarce and we clearly require an upgrade on that right wing flank. Relying on Valencia for width for the upcoming season will come back and bite us in the arse I reckon. Very surprised we said no to Aurier to be honest.

Imagine we signed Neymar and Mbappe.
I don't think I'd recover.

I keep seeing this being said. City get Sanchez, give them the league now, if City get Sanchez they win the internet blah blah....whatever man, but why? This is the same Sanchez that finished 5th with Arsenal right? And the same Sanchez that couldn't do feck all for Arsenal winning last game?

I get it he is a great player, but imo will not score as many as Augero, and if they got him, one sits on the bench imo.

Definitely not Arsenal.

I'm certain this answer will prove correct in 8-9 months time.:lol:

As for the best - hard to say on paper.

I wish we'd been more active as I feel we're still a bit short. Among the players that have moved clubs this summer, I feel Mendy, B Silva, and Aurier would have upgraded us. I won't even mention the likes of Dembele, Neymar or Mbappe, as I don't think we would have had a shot with them even if we tried.

Still, Lukaku looks to have been a good bit of business, and Matic looks a steal already. Early days on Lindelof, but our CBs are doing a fine job so far so there's not a huge amount of pressure on him. Hopefully when Jose feels he's ready he can add a new dimension to our team.

Tottenham have done well to keep their best players, but I don't know if they've strengthened enough.

Chelsea don't look to have added enough and they could find themselves stretched with the extra CL games.

City have brought in some exciting players - and the new FBs are a big upgrade on what they had. But no CBs and no orthodox DM/CM might be their undoing. They might prove me wrong, but I don't think they can win the league with de Bruyne and Silva as CMs.

Liverpool, like City, appear to have bought for the least pressing areas. They should have got that CB in, and there's still question marks over their GKs. But Salah looks a good buy already.

Why has nobody mentioned West Brom? What a cracking window from Pulis especially with Grzegorz Krychowiak joining on loan.

PSG in Europe for sure. Their offence is formidable, but I'm still unsure how they'll manage to keep everyone happy there.

In the Prem it's:

1. City - I think City have had the best window as they've addressed their glaring full back issues and have strengthened in attack as well. Remains to be seen if they can keep Kompany fit.

2. United - I would've gone with us in number one but we still need proper full backs and a winger potentially. Failing to address these areas means we haven't had the best window in the Prem. At least we've signed a proper DM that can potentially release Pogba and we've added a solid finisher in Lukaku.

3. Liverpool - They haven't addressed the central defensive issue and they still lack squad depth but they have brought a promising left back into the squad. Add to that another fast winger, a utility midfielder and a potential world class midfielder (coming in next summer) and they've done some solid business. Oh and Coutinho is still there.

Then it's a toss up between Chelsea, WBA and Huddersfield for spot 4.

If we signed Neymar and Mbappe, nobody here would answer anything else than United. So PSG of course.

Premier league wise, obviously we've done excellent business but Spurs have done some smart work too I feel. Aurier and Sanchez will prove astute buys I think.

PSG and City.

One team has signed some absolute stars and a superb freebie, the other team has refreshed their ageing team and adressed their weaknesses, while adding to an already stacked attack.

PSG by far. Inter deserve a mention too, they did good business and it's barely been noticed.

In the Prem, United by a clear mile, Matic has been immense.
Although we've made 2 very solid signings, we have also failed to sign either a winger or a full back, both of which we needed imo. Still a very good window though, up there with City's.

Us by a clear mile? We have spent a LOT of money. Lindelof could be anything but we didn't really need him, Lukaku and Matic are sensible deals and enhance our first team undoubtedly but hardly bargains. I think we have had an ok window, nothing amazing. We had a lot of players at the club who can raise their level anyway though and that is the main reason we stand a chance at the league.

AC Milan anyone? Sure, PSG have done very well with Neymar and possibly Mbappe but Milan considering their team before the window compared to now I think have made the biggest improvements on paper.
They spent on 200m on average players mostly.
