mate, i tried to watch nhl games a couple of times, i even watch ESPN when they show the highligts

never saw the puk. it goes so fast that i don't get what the feck is going on

tough game though

a lot of yanks don't really like hockey and with The Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Canadiens out of the NHL playoffs, half of Canada doesn't really
care.

I think the Toronto Raptors are making the playoffs, I'll have to tune in for that, Chris Bosh is a great player. Managed to get to one Raptors game this season.

Baseball, I loathe and will never discuss unless it's to ridicule.

yeah, i find it hard to follow at times, but ive gotten used to it now.

i'll watch any sport really, as long as its halfway competitive. and nhl is certainly competitive.

baseball is terrific. i spent a summer in the states and just fell in love with the game. followed it closely ever since. go cubs.

I usually watch more playoff hockey, since the strike I really don;t pay it much attention.

I do admit I have a soft spot for the Cubs. I just find baseball to be one of the slowest sports out there.

Doc.... I was just getting over that and then you bring it up!! :annoyed:

Raptors get the Nets in Round 1. Vince is a PUSSY!!!

Hockey is the fastest game in the world, so I'm not surprised you would have trouble watching it, but the more you do the easier it is to follow the play.

i did too until i started following the cricket. man that can be slow.

but slow can be good in the right circumstances. a nice relaxing afternoon of sport, time to enjoy a couple of drinks, discuss the finer things and hopefully see a few moments of brilliance over the course of the day.

its a nice change from the football.

NO WAY!!! I'm so going to boo that pansy assed carter. But I'll bet he picks up a mysterious injury in the warm up at the ACC.

Speaking of, I think it was in the last game of the season, Leafs v. Habs, remember that move one of the Habs did in the corner, the fake out-spin move? (this is the best I can do to describe it) the most amazing thing I've ever seen on skates.

Over here we use baseball as our excuse to sit around, relax, and kill a few beers, especially on Thursdays, which are $1 a beer nights at the local stadium.

Dr. D--
Did you notice how the Rangers swept the Thrashers? Every decade or so we have a good team. Also--it's always nice to beat up some team from a state that seceded from the Union. There shouldn't be any hockey teams in the Confederacy anyway.

Still--there's (probably) New Jersey in the next round, so I'll just enjoy our participation in the hunt for Lord Stanley's Cup while it lasts.

I actually hadn't. I've been paying scant attention to the playoffs. Congrats, though. I would not have expected it.

I just looked at their roster. It's about fecking time they ditched their galactico policy. I barely recognized any names.

Good luck to them in the next round. A sweep in round one should see them go quite far.

There should be some sort of demarcation line for hockey...no natural ice ever? no hockey for you!!

I started following the Rangers when there were 6 teams in the NHL. I still refer to the Phoenix team as the Winnepeg Jets and the folks in Denver as the Nordiques. It's also fun to refer to the Devils as the Kansas City Scouts as the current band-wagon fans don't have the slightest idea about the history of the league.

 I thought they made the move from Colorado (pre Avalanche to be clear)...what was that team called again? Oh yeah, The Colorado Rockies.

I miss the Jets.:(

The Nordiques were robbed of a Stanley Cup win in their last season, as well...against the Rangers, I think it was..:nervous:

The Rangers underachieved all year long, but they finally decided to show what they were made of. Lundqvist has easily been the best goalie since the All-Star break.

I also have disdain for the Sun Belt teams. How can they have hockey teams in a place where water almost never freezes.

I try to go through life pretending that the Canadiens don't exist.... makes life easier... :D

The Scouts moved to Denver after one year, then made the trek to the cesspool on the west bank of the Hudson. Hockey belongs in KC the way it does in Dallas and Tampa Bay--on the television only.

I always call Dallas the North Stars....

But then the North Stars were created through a merger with the Cleveland Barons, who were originally the California Golden Seals.....

with the Habs out I put a sneaky $5 on a few teams just to get some interest. Canucks and Rangers going ok, Wild not so much.

I like NBA - the ROckets will beat the Spazz. A few years ago we had a legendary NBA thread, 25+ pages. All the NBA fans left or rarely post now.

Baseball, I just kind of watch for two things - to see Big Papi hit, and for Barry BOnds to get the record. I`m kind of rooting for A-Rod now.

Can`t wait for the NFL to start up again!

Now that baseball is underway, did anyone see the game (or the highlights) of the no-hitter thrown by Mark Buehrle?!?!?

...and that's a White Sox winner!!!!

Hopefully this season is more like 2005 than 2006 for us. Time shall tell.

Hope and pride of Chicago...you can forget the Cubs, they are perennial losers.

I wouldn't mind talking about American sports, but I live in Washington, DC. We got the Nationals (who suck), the Redskins (who usually give away all of their fecking draft picks), the Wizards (ok, they made the play-offs but I'm not a hoops fan and Cleveland is most likely going to sweep them anyways), the Capitals (who REALLY suck), and DC United (who have started their season with 2 losses)...not too much for me to talk about in respects to DC sports...sorry that I couldn't add to the diccussion, but being a total homer, all of my hometown teams kinda blow right now. :annoyed:

i love the redskins

i was in Washington -visiting a girlfriend- when they won the superbowl against the Broncos

the party in the streets was fecking wild :)

you have a Man Utd Ginobilli fan here

I hate him because of what he did against my country in the olympics.

Although that game was a little revenge for the world championship finals were my country was lucky as hell that the referee didn´t call the foul in the last second.

And I hate the Spurs, the most boring team in the NBA.

I hate Utah and Houston too.

NBA is shit. Gone are the guys like Stockton, Magic, Barkley, Jordan, Hakeem, etc. Now you got the ghetto boys and there 21 man posses more worried about their bling and dunks than their fundamentals.

NHL lost me due to the strike (though I must say "Go Stars!")

MLB is boring. I'll watch some of the post-season though. I used to love baseball, played it from age 8 through my high school days. Now I find 99% of games too boring to watch more than 3 innings.

For me, there is only college and pro football in the US sports scene. Thank God for the networks carrying football (soccer) coverage

As a Bulls fan, the 90s were pretty nice...

#23 - Best player of all time.

I agree with you when you say that the standard is lower but I wouldn´t say it´s shit. It´s still 10 times more interesting to watch NBA games than boring Euroleague games were players get fouled every 4th second and were 90% of the shots taken are 3-pointers.

American sports eh? There's a novel idea. Some look interesting but there's 0% coverage over here. For most I haven't got a clue what's going on, like hockey, I can never see the pucking feck........I mean the fecking puck.

Duncan, Ginobli, Bowen, Nash, Nowitzki, Bosh, Boozer, Paul, Yao, Lebron, Kobe, Wade, T-Mac.

The NBA full of great players and great teams. It is still well worth watching
