When is one too old for replica kits?

What is the thoughts on footballer ranges of clothing? I think this top is class but wearing a "JB" Jude Bellingham top makes me iffy about wearing it.

Surely you can find that top without the Bellingham logo. Its nice but seems a pretty generic Adidas top.

The only place I’ve ever seen that apparently wearing football t shirts is a sign of immaturity is on here, and I suppose by extension in UK based football circles?

In the real world loads of people of all ages wear it and I think it’s fine?

This is one of the more stupid opinions I’ve generally seen on here if I’m honest

I think there's definately an age where it starts looking silly much like adults that skateboard and Rollerblade.

I mean wear them for pottering about the house or when going for a run sure but anything else then nah.

The only answer as someone have pointed out is: Never.

I dont wear them myself as I feel a bit awkward displaying any type of allegiance to anything. I even avoid clothes with big brand logos or text on them for the very same reason.

Has anyone seen the fan designs of all shorts on Instagram? They are far superior to the actual club released versions. Which begs the question, who are the club artists / designers ?and why do they continue with the same old tired designs rather than being progressive with some of these other artist. Search for example special_kits9 for an idea.

I just googled 'adults wearing sports jerseys' and it certainly seems to be discourse that extends far beyond UK based football circles.

I often wonder this as several mates say they are in their 40s and feel a bit silly wearing replica kits.

Is there an age when one should put that behind them?

What about getting a name and number on the back? Is that for kids? Especially your own name...
Hopefully never, because I turn 35 next week and I have just ordered the 3rd kit

In all seriousness...there are far worse 'crimes' than wearing a football shirt into middle-age. If you want to do it, do it.

Fair enough. I’ve never encountered someone in real life who has actually felt like wearing a sports jersey as an adult is weird, but have encountered many adults who do so

Shirts are fine, but as I get older, I feel a bit silly wearing one with a player's name on the back

Is wearing s football top any different than wearing a top with a massive logo across the front to represent the brand of clothing you just bought?

Wear it loud and proud, whatever age you are.

So, never. Is my answer.

Mocking grown adults wearing football shirts, by people who probably wear full Team Sky gear when out cycling or have a Valentino Rossi helmet when out for a weekend blast.

Who cares, it's just a top with a bit of decoration!

I see grown men in their sports team's gear all the time. Nowt wrong with it.

Weddings! I have been to a wedding where a guy (at least one, maybe more) had an NFL jersey on. Got to draw the line at fecking weddings.

I am in my mid 40s and wear United stuff mainly for sport activities like hiking, running or cycling and when doing some workout.
Tbh I have not bought new stuff fiat some years.

I also have a lot of metal shirts and used to wear them everywhere in my free time but came to a point where I started to wear them mainly at home. My wife was not happy with me wearing ugly shirts when visiting restaurants with friends

I haven’t bought a jersey since I was maybe 21 I wear the long sleeve training gear sometimes but rarely bring colours to home or away games

Wearing them to a game is weird to me too, it's like going to see a band and wearing their t-shirt. But that's a matter of taste, some people enjoy that.
You could say that being a fan of your football club is weird too. It’s like liking a band and following them around.

Yeah seems strange to wear the name of someone half my age. Also since Rooney we have not had a player whose name I felt the urge to wear on a shirt.

You are never too old. Whatever you feel like wearing wear it.

Common sense should apply though and if you are a average size person with a bit of additional weight size up in your fecking jersey at least. You dont fit in to your grey England kit from Euro 96 all these years later nice try.

Jerseys in XL etc are great as well if you are self conscious about your weight.

However full kits are a no in my eyes (no one cares if you play 5 a side and "need" it).

I draw the line personally with the player version of the kit as well though, Ive no idea why anyone would need one of those. And this is from someone who has lost count of the amount of jerseys I have over the years.

It's sort of strange. I don't wear united replicas, do love the retro ones though. Also have a few United ones from Football Town which I like.

But I do wear shirts of other teams around the world if I've visited there. I have an Orlando one, a Real Salt Lake, Valencia and Lanzarote.

Quite fancy a Murcia or Elce one, but struggling for it on the snide market haha.

Never too old, I'm in my late 30s and I always have some of my favourite teams and international shirts in my wardrobe, mainly wear them only to play football in/gym workout.

Ones I have at the moment:
Napoli home with Maradona
Brazil 2014 with Rivaldo
Real Madrid no name from the Cristiano era

Some of my favourite which I've now thrown away:
Ajax home no name
Barca home no name
Monaco home no name
Netherlands home Van Nistelrooy on the back

Have had a selection of the United kits since the 1999 days, but with the prices nowadays I usually just pick shirts up in sales or the recent cheaper online replicas.

No age really, but I do think one needs to consider whether the fit is right, like anything else really.

Authentic shirts can look v v cool. Very. I love the current trend and love the fact that it is women who are taking ownership with this.

I buy the odd random training tops only now. All my money goes on my son's shirts.
I did stop buying for a while once the Glazers took over. Can't help myself sometimes.

Wear and enjoy I guess.

Looks like it's ok for fat middle aged women to wear tops as it's only the men that get slagged for it. It's the people that give a toss about what someone else is wearing that have the problem.

the youngest player on my jerseys is ferdinand 5, because for me, isn’t any worthy player yet to put on the back of my jersey

I'm over a half a century and last seasons FACUP final I wore full kit from 1996.. it still fitted me.. I didn't have the socks couldn't find them .. this seasons Final I didn't and we won.. . Got loads of tops I gave loads away to a utd fan youngster She wears them all the time ..

I think any age is ok to wear a replica shirt . But I think once you are at an age where you are older than the players its weird to get a name and number. But if you get a retro shirt its ok to get Keane or Beckham for example

I have the black and gold shirt with Cantona 7 on the back bought at the store the week of Sir Matt's passing
Lovely,.lovely stuff.

I got mine from a women who was simply too old for me.she said " do you want this?". I was genuinely touched (legally). Was going through milfs like nobodys business back then.

Almost every adult who leaves the house in clothing.
You’d be surprised at some “clothing” choices around my part of town. Pajamas, socks with slippers, that undergarment tank-top like thing that some women wear without something over it… like an episode of people from Walmart.
