When do we discuss potential relegation?

I’m surprised a thread hasn’t been created yet. Can we get relegated? Our squad is terrible, our form is awful. Square pegs in round holes all across the pitch. So much negatively around the club. It has all the hallmarks of a club going in the wrong direction.

We’ve lost to Wolves and West Ham away, drawn with Ipswich and Palace away. These are teams fighting the relegation zone along with Southampton, Leicester and Everton. We still need to play Leicester and Everton away from home.

Newcastle and Liverpool up next which I don’t see any points from. Then Southampton,
Brighton and Fulham. We have to get 6 pts from those 3 games.
 
Given our chances of getting any points from the next 3 league games in pretty slim (probably won't score a goal), then we could be in the relegation zone come end of January. Does anyone see anything from the current malaise that suggest we can climb out of it? I honestly don't.
 
When it looks like it's remotely possible. It isn't.
 
We are so dramatic as a fan base, when we get out this Christmas schedule, our coach will get more time to you know, coach and our performances will improve and we’ll be fine.

I did one earlier today but for some reason it was shut down
 
We’re shite but we would only need 4 wins and 3 draws to avoid relegation so it is extremely unlikely.

I’d imagine we will be dumped out of the FA Cup by Arsenal and as the fixture congestion eases we will improve to some extent.

I’m sure Newcastle and Villa fans thought the same the year they got relegated. Look at the evidence on the pitch rather than just thinking Man Utd can’t get relegated. We had a jammy win against City in our current run of games as well.

That wasn't a jammy win at all.

Should have had a clear pen even before the pen we got and they scored a very fluky goal. We outplayed them quite clearly.

You guys are rewriting what actually happened.
 
After the Newcastle game. Amorim will have a full week with players, and I have a feeling the game at Anfield will be more difficult than it looks right now. Amorim probably will sort this out over the next four weeks or so, unfortunately :(
 
We may be 8 points off 18th, but we're also 8 points off 5th. When do we discuss our plans for next season's Champions League?
 
Yeah it really doesn't take a lot to stay up, basically another 4 wins and we'd be safe.

We might drop close at some point but there's zero chance of us actually getting relegated. As bad as we are those teams are much much worse.
 
We’re very unlikely to get relegated. Not because we don’t deserve it but because there are somehow at least three even worse teams in the league.

Everyone has a different opinion as it would be boring otherwise.
To suggest a possibility on a forum is what these things are all about otherwise things can get a little bit staid.

Because of the calibre of the teams below us.

Are you expecting them all to go on some miraculous winning streak between now and May? They'll drop just as many if not more points than us.

Southampton are done.
There's no way Ipswich are going to have enough in them to mount enough of an uplift in form.
Leicester could escape but I've seen no reason to believe they will. They look shot.
Everton potentially could climb up as they've avoided defeats by big opponents, that will instil confidence.
Wolves seem to be improving a lot so yes they potentially could rise above us.
Palace have been bad but they'll be fine.

So lets say the bottom 3 will probably be Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester, who are we taking the place of out of those 3?

Yes our form is terrible. Yes it's relegation form, but there are worse teams. We'll probably finish between 9th and 13th.

I understand though that it's easy to find comfort by fabricating a worst case scenario, as anything other than that will feel like a small victory.
 
Funny how we talk about us being relegated when Tottenham and even City are on worse runs than us, but no we won't there are 4 or 5 teams worse than us.
 
We're not in any danger of relegation. We'll be safe with another 2 or 3 wins.

I know we like to go to extremes and call our players championship standard, but the bottom three teams are actual championship standard. They're dross. Even if we don't improve we'll fluke enough points to easily stay up
 
we already have 3 or 4 threads about relegation. it won't happen so no point in wasting time on that.

It was created and deleted cos it ain’t happening. I understand the underlying fear but trust us it’s not happening. Maybe back in the day when the league actually had decent sides come up. Now most teams who come up are well short.
Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich will not be winning three games more than us between now and the end of the season. And that’s the way you look at it. Could we finish 17th? Absolutely. But last time I checked you don’t get relegated finishing there.

That said, if we were going to be relegated, the season would look a lot like this. And then we’d suffer a horrific injury crisis during the run in which sends us down.

Can’t see it happening but if injuries forced us to start Bayindir, Malacia and Zirkzee every match, you never really know.
 
As awful as we are we're still capable of getting atleast 7 wins in this league. So we'll be safe in this division atleast.
 
It’s almost unbelievable to think but there will be at least three teams who will be shitter than us come May. Bottom half finish extremely likely though
