What's going to happen with Kiko Macheda?

I know this could be in the Reserve Forum, but what's going on with Macheda? Moyes seems to have implied that he'll be moving him on, but has he even been linked with anyone?

played tonight against Crewe - I assume he is available for sale or loan at least along with a few others.

He said himself in an interview last season that he'd be leaving United. Obviously not attracting much interest, his career has stagnated. Talented young striker though. I remember him stating in that interview how proud he was to have scored THAT goal.

 the crowd were chanting "we want Bebe".

Did Bebe get a game?

I notice Steve Round hasn't shown Butt the art of carrying more than two balls yet!

Talented finisher, but never managed to apply his all round game at a standard beyond the reserves.
I do have a nagging feeling that Danny Welbeck made him look better than he was though.

Nicky Butt seems to have gotten a head transplant from a 70 year old man.

He obviously got a flying start with that Villa goal, I just wonder if it did him more harm than good eventually. He never had the ability to live up to something like that, and I think patience grew thin with him as his performances were poor, particularly when starting matches.

I never felt he "had it" in the way Welbeck had. Remember it being discussed quite recently who was the bigger talent between the two of them. Ridicilous really.

I always thought that there was just something missing from his all round game, He started incredibly with that strike against Villa, but really failed to shine beyond that.

I was expecting him to be sold last season but instead he went on loan, perhaps he will be loaned out again this year, but I wouldn't be too miffed if we sold him.

Sad that. The loan to Sampdoria really put the kibosh on Kiko's career followed by another at QPR. Fergie used to speak of this boy in glowing terms. What the hell happened?

Macheda will forever have a place in my heart for his title winning goals against Villa and Sunderland - we were really wobbling at that point in the season. Legend.

I feel like he would have been gone a few years ago if it wasn't for his goal against Villa. Never seemed good enough, although the two goals he scored were so important for us (even though he knew nothing about the second one).

Came across lazy and moody every time i saw him near the first team after that season.

Massive credit for them goals, but he isn't very good. Think he only managed 1 goal whilst out of loan 3 times playing in 40 games?

He needs to find a club at his level. I expect him back in Italy in Serie B within the next year. I'm not sure anyone will take the bait this summer.

Me too. Will always have a massive soft spot for him.

I might be over-exaggerating his ability here, but I thought he'd be a viable option for one of the promoted sides this season. In fact, I thought Palace or Hull would be very keen on somebody like him as their squads are relatively short of goalscorers. It'll be sad if he slips away into general obscurity. I, like every United fan, will always have a soft spot for him after his exploits for us in the spring of 2009.

I'll never forget the incredible buildup on Macheda before that famous match v Villa -- not here but on another board. A fellow poster, a local, told us all about Macheda's exploits in the weeks before the game and that he might makes the bench v Villa.

Then the gods spoke and the heavens opened with providential beneficence.

Machedaaaaaaaaaaa ! i rember that moment

Dont think that's something anyone who's watched it will ever forget. It was simply amazing.

Really thought he'd push on too, been very bad how his career simply plummeted here.

I dont think "here" is the right term. He's sort of played the kind of games you'd have expected him to play in during his development here, cup games. Its each time we send him out on loan that he's had a problem convincing the manager to keep him in the team and get on the scoresheet.

he hasn't exactly had great loan moves either. Seems to got a bit of a big head after bursting onto the scene and pushed for that loan move to italy when the club was advising him otherwise. In the end the club was right and he wasn't ready for that and he has basically stagnated ever since. Each time I have seen him since, he has given me the impression he has a higher opinion of his game than the reality and wasn't willing to play at a lower level to actually develop it.

With the youngsters now pushing for a place in the squad on tour currently, I can't see him having a future here any more. Hopefully we can get a bit of cash for him and he can get his career back on track by playing regularly for another team.

I don't mind if he's willing to stay and become our 5th or 4th striker, especially if Rooney leaves. RvP, Welbeck and Chicha ain't going to be enough

After he scored that goal he should have gone somewhere like Watford or Palace who at the time would probably have played him week in week out. Got some proper experience at a very competitive level then the season after gone to a Wigan type club.

Agreed, instead he pushed for the move to Italy instead

He's scored two bangers against Villa. The second one less monumental, but was it 2, maybe 3 seasons ago at Villa Park, from outside the box?

Just play him against Villa all the time.
