Dejphon Chansiri: Sheffield Wednesday owner says he will stop funding club after 'insults'

Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri says that he will not put any more money into the Championship club.
In a statement the Thai businessman said that he took responsibility for all club issues but is unhappy with treatment towards him and his family from some fans.

"From now, I will not put additional money into the club," Chansiri said.

In a lengthy statement, which Chansiri said he had "thought about making for some time" but "never thought he would have to do", he told supporters that "protests are a waste of time".

"I am the one who saved the club and spent the money for the club, I am the one who needs to pay around £2m on average every month," he added.

"Some fans need to have more respect for owners of clubs and not be so selfish, thinking of their own benefit without doing anything good to the club.

Anyone who follows Wednesday have more info? this guy sounds incredibly thin skinned

I saw something similar with the Scunthorpe owner the other day. Bunch of man-children running clubs these days.

He does but he’s got a point (at least looking from an outside pov). They’d be in a financial pickle if he wasn’t paying that 2m a month

Good for him.

Also Sheffield Wednesday should be forced to play every Wednesday. They're deceiving us all

The lack of self awareness in that last paragraph is incredible.

Nah he doesnt, he didn't have to buy the club he chose to, and everything that comes with it. As owner he has responsibilities, if he doesn't want those responsibilities to keep the club afloat, literally sell it to someone who cares.

The reason he's having to put money in is because of the position he's got them in in the first place with his behind the scenes and off the field decisions with the selling off the ground, issues with agents and the embargos. So many behind the scenes have walked just because of him. He's always tried to play it off as if he's had the club at heart and get the fans on the side when in reality he's just been like every other cnuty owners and fecked them up.

He's been there 9 years. If that assertion's accurate then he's the guy ultimately responsible for his company losing 2m a month. He's sold Hillsborough (to his own subsidiary company) ; failed to pay staff on more than one occasion, had a 6 point deduction for financial irregularities which ultimately lead to relegation. He managed to get promotion last year but currently sits bottom of the championship with 2 points from 6 8 games.

He's reaping the rewards of his own feck ups and making out like he's some sort of jilted philanthropist.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info

Who told him to sign so many shit players on high wages chasing the Premier league?

Who told him to piss off Darren Moore?

He’s ran the club poorly regardless of how much he’s put in. He bought the club as a vanity project like most owners who don’t support the club beforehand do so don’t go crying about losing money when the fans complain about shit results on the pitch .

Only thing you know with businessmen is they are only in it if they are making a bob or two. If hes been there nine years then hges obviously milking it from somewhere.

They're on Sky tonight at home. Very interested to see the crowd reaction.

This isn't particularly new. They've hated him for ages. This is just another embarrassing episode.
