360 for me. lovely balance, sits in hand nicely, analog sticks are not too stiff, and not too loose and in the right place (for me anyways). I've only used playstation or xbox controllers, oh and sega ones for the sega megadrive.

Yeah it does sound like a lot of money, glad you found what you wanted in the end .
Was a close one between the SNES and Gamecube, but ended up going for the SNES because of the d-pad.
Playstation 1 pad has my vote. It looked very sophisticated in design. My first impression was a big wow as I remember.
360 feels great in hand but it looks a bit like a feckin soap dish.
Classic SEGA's pads deserve mentioning. That shape plus the color kicked ass !

I loved the original xbox controller. Shame the black/white buttons were bollocks.

The Wii U controller!
Feck me. I don't even have a Wii U, but I use it on my PC. What makes it so great is the thumbsticks being high up on the handles. With the Xbox/PS controllers, you have low down thumbsticks which I always find it tricky to be accurate with, especially in fps and football games. It feels a lot more natural to push 'up' with the Wii U controller.

The battery lasts about 80 hours between charges too. The thing is immense!
