What is our best front 3?

If we're doing the drab 3-4-3 formation, we might as well have more attacking minded players.

Amad-----Ugarte-Bruno----Dorgu
---Zirkzee/Mount---Garnacho----
-----------------Hojlund--------------------
I'd like to see Rasmus, Zirkzee and Garnacho tried out as a front three too.

I think Mount could work in the 10, but he’s never fit. I’d go with this for a run of games and see what happens.

Amad————-Garnacho
————Zirkzee

We will get crushed on midfield if Bruno is one of the two.

We BADLY need a number 9. And a box to box center mid.

I would play:
——-—————Zirkzee—————-
————Garnacho-Bruno————
Dorgu-Casemiro-Ugarte-Amad

Bruno doesn’t have the discipline to play center mid, we need a player that is ready to go to war. I would go with Casemiro and if he doesn’t have the legs, mount has to play until summer. And then Toby if mount is out.

Garnacho should play a little wider so he can take on the right back almost every time he gets the ball.

I think Zirkzee showed a little bit against Leicester, so I would give him the chance the next couple of games, but still questions marks if he can play the number 9 position. Surely we have to get a PL proven number 9.

But I really don’t like this system. I feel like every ball has to go past Maguire. We need to play so much more direct, with more energy and actually trying to create chances and not just playing the ball around in a back five with 11 oppositions behind the ball.

Amorim has to start to show something positive, so we can trust backing the system in the transfer marked this summer, so we don’t use millions on players for a system that doesn’t work in the PL.

If Dorgu starts at left wing-back, I’d be hesitant to play Garnacho as the left inside forward, as they’d likely occupy the same spaces, potentially limiting each other’s effectiveness. This isn’t an issue when Dalot plays there, as his tendency to invert naturally creates space for an inside forward to operate.

Additionally, I’d adjust the front three depending on the opposition:

Against low-block teams:

Højlund
Mainoo – Eriksen

For counter-attacking setups:

Zirkzee
Bruno – Garnacho

Safe to say that this is worst attack in last 30 years. Even Hughes/Mcclair looks better than this. They both knew how to score goals.

I don’t think we really have one. Just play whoever appears to be on form at the time. Garnacho should be starting the next match for example!

Isn’t it the reverse with Dorgu and Dalot? Having a full back (competently) bombing down the line will give Garnacho more room to operate.

No. If you watch Garnacho closely, despite playing as an inside forward, he is often instructed to drift into wide channels, where he is most effective. When he does this, Dalot moves inside to compensate.

My point is that if we deploy Dorgu as a left wing-back, Garnacho wouldn’t need to drift wide, as Dorgu would naturally provide width, getting to the byline and delivering crosses—essentially fulfilling the role Garnacho typically plays when positioned as a left forward. This would result in both occupying the same spaces, potentially limiting their effectiveness.

I don't think Garnacho is very effective when having to play in pockets.

I disagree, if anything it should give him more room than Dalot inverting in to his space. The spaces Garnacho has been finding himself in is where Dalot is supposed to be maybe just a little wider putting balls in rather than wasting time cutting back on to his right.

Rasmus is dragging the defence deep leaving huge space for cutbacks but there is never anyone there as that is where The 2x10’s need to be and the opposite wingback.

I really don’t get the point of these inverted wingbacks especially with the 10’s also being inverted. Seems to just compound our slow inept build up play.

Our vest front 3 is surely Garnacho, Amad, Rasmus but we create nothing and when we do we don’t have the right people doing it and the correct people in positions to capitalise.

As soon as we sort out the wingback play I believe this team will transform, its just is it already broken and the players no longer have the belief in it that it can work.

Against Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and City that we need to be more defensive:

Hojlund/Zirkzee
Dorgu/Dalot - Garnacho - Amad - Dalot/Dorgu
Bruno - Ugarte

Against the other teams including Forest, Spurs, Aston Villa:

Hojlund
Dorgu/Dalot - Garnacho - Mainoo - Amad
Bruno - Ugarte
