What is Luis Suarez worth?

All of these sides lack a top class striker and pretty much dominate every game they play in, he's an excellent striker even if he is a cnut... but I think his cuntishness has been his downfall here and no one is interested in signing him bar Arsenal.

I'll take shit for saying it but I think his cnut factor plays a huge part. As armchair fans it's nice and easy to sit there and judge him based on what we see on the television and all the pretty nutmegs, 75 shots a game to score a hat trick etc etc. You have to pull the chequebook out and actually sign him and on a managerial level there would be a pretty big decision to be made of whether it is actually worth the risk.

I still think he is insanely overrated and people have knee-jerked a 'world class' tag an slapped it onto him off the back of this past season.

Self explanatory, no? Well here is the jist; he is absolutely not worth £50m or anything like that kind of money.

Well Arsenal have already bid £40m with rumours they are considering a bid of £42m. So they value him in that bracket.

He is our best player, on a long term contract, club do not want to sell and very hard to replace.
The club value him at over £50m and that's a realistic price for a word class player.

It's a sad state for football when 'world class' Suarez is valued at £50m.

Cavani went for £55m, it's reasonable for LFC to demand a similar price.
The key thing is they don't want to sell, and he is tied to a fairly long contract, replacing will be hard.
The club are within their rights to demand a high fee, he is worth that amount to the club.

I'm not saying he won't go for £50m because quite frankly, in today's market, that kind of money is spent on players like Suarez. These sugar-daddy clubs have skewed people's perception on what players are actually worth.

But if you ask me if Suarez is worth £50m? I will be honest and say absolutely not. The baggage that will inevitably come with him will have to factor into his valuation and I also think he is overrated - vey good player - but nowhere near as good as he is often made out to be. I remember reading somewhere that a-hell-of-a-lot of Madrid fans were against signing him (apparently some poll was run) that shows how he is viewed outside of your club. He is a god like figure for the Anfield faithful but he certainly isn't viewed like that by the majority of opposition fans.

Okay, fair enough. Nobody can deny the baggage that comes with him.
I still think he is worth a lot of money.

Hopefully from our point of view if he goes we get as much as we possibly can for him.

Why? Because he's from the same country?

Cavani is a better player

No he isn't , at International level for example Suarez has a much better record.

Cavani in Serie A has been better than Suarez on EPL during the last 2-3 years IMO. He also doesn't have the mandatory ban for 1/4 of the season.

Suarez is better at International level, but Cavani plays there out of position. And International level isn't the best way to judge the player quality. Rooney would have been a rubbish player judged by that, and Ronaldo and Messi only decent players.

For a premier league team, he's worth 35m. He has damaged his reputation here, and that mud would stick with him ( and the club who buy him) for a pretty long time.

One good season at the top level and he's worth £50m plus? Balls.

He is worth what LFC say he is worth, club don't want to sell him. Anyone wants him then put up the money or shut up.
If people think that's over the odds then so be it!

He'll probably end up so frustrated with your club that he bites another player and misses half of the season, then you'll be forced to sell him next summer for less than Arsenal are willing to pay now. Even with incredible (but ill guided) support from the club, managers and fans, he still manages to get himself in trouble all the time and miss lots of matches when he should be in a happy frame of mind. Consider the explosive reaction he'll have when he feels like Liverpool are against him too

Yeah, he's not really though. If Liverpool decide he's worth £200m does that make it the case?

It's impossible to put an exact value on a player, everyone will have different opinions.
In my opinion, given the fact he is our best player, is on a long term deal, the club do not want to sell - LFC are spot on in putting what they feel is a realistic price in place bearing the current transfer market rate, and what other players (ie Cavani) have been sold for.

The club are trying to keep him. Yes he is a nutter, but LFC are holding out it seems for the best price they can get.
Especially as they do not want to strengthen another Premier League club and would have a lot of difficulty in replacing him.

Every right to ask for a fee of £50m, LFC don't want to or have to sell him.

That's how the market is though.

Paucity of top strikers.

Liverpool's best player by a mile.

Selling club has no incentive to sell.

2 clubs interested, both of whom have deep pockets.

I'd be amazed if Pool sold him for less than 45mil.

It is absolutely the right approach to take. Any club in its senses would do the same. A bid of 45mil odd would make you sell though. He's too big a cnut to keep if he'd rather be elsewhere. How does it feel though? After all the sticking by him in times of shit(though admittedly your club needed him big time) and he's off at the first opportunity?

It doesn't feel great. Opinions are mixed to say the least, we have been loyal (maybe too loyal).
All the controversy with him aside, if someone doesn't want to play for you anymore you are always going to get strong opinions from fans.

Personally I would rather he be sold, though would be very concerned if we sold him to Arsenal, purely as we are trying to catch them up and get in the top 4.

You can't go around biting people and doing all the other stuff too.
If Real Madrid come in with a good offer, I wouldn't be that gutted to be honest - even though he is our best player.

You should flog him to Real at a cut price if it means Arsenal not strengthening.

I am not sure we will, or whether they are even interested anyway. Maybe if they don't get Bale we will find out if they switch to someone else.

The important thing is it gets sorted soon, can't have any last minute transfer day fiasco.

How I'd love another panic Caroll signing :D

If Real wanted him he'd be gone like shit off a shovel for less than £40M. I think it's 50/50 you sell him to us at £45M.

I think that may well happen, good luck with a player who can't be fecked to do the business and will go for £20M next year,

He's leaving. There's no way he can stay after all of this.

£45m will be it, I imagine.

It's not like he's thrown a huge tantrum/refused to show up for pre-season. He still has an amicable relationship with the club.

I sense you've got your hopes up though.

Have you seen him in pre-season? He looks like he's swallowed an ant's nest.

It's to be expected - we all know he wants to leave. Certainly doesn't mean 'there's no way he can stay'.

I think that may well happen, good luck with a player who can't be fecked to do the business and will go for £20M next year,

Look at City & Tevez, or Modric & Spurs. Because a player wants to leave it doesn't mean their performance levels will automatically decrease.

Also, it's a World Cup year.

I still think it's 50/50 since he's got a 3 year contract. He's being a cnut though not as big a ubermegacuntcuntcunt as van Cuntie, who was supported by Arsenal through 6 years of development and support through injury and ran his contract down to engineer a move.

Cavani and Falcao inflated the market this summer. No way is Suarez worth £50.

 You have started to become a bit boring with this.

Liverpool gave unprecedented support to Suarez. Everyone and it's dog knew that what Suarez was doing is wrong and all the world criticized him, but they (club, manager and fans) stand by him like he was Jesus MK2. Van Persie in his last 5 years at the club was either the best or the second best player in the club. Don't change the history and talk about him like he was a poor player and you supporter him because you felt bad for him, don't forget that he scored 132 goals for you and was one of the main reasons why you didn't fall outside of top 4.

And you probably shouldn't talk if you don't know what it was from ours and his perspective.
