What is a good result at Anfield?

Manager isn’t going to be sacked until Jim has a look at him which is fair enough. The squad isn’t fit for purpose. We have a load of mid level players. Europa league on their day. It’s far from good enough. Our whole attack is feeding McTominay for gods sake

The fact we'd all see a 1-0 loss to our fircest rivals as a good result is enough evidence to prove the manager must go

Exactly, I'd accept 3 nil.

I genuinely believe we are going to get smashed. That fact that we know we are losing this one too. Not fear. The away record is a complete joke.

The same threads have popped up under Moyes, LVG, Jose, Ole and Ragnick. The manager isn't the (only) issue
(Maybe recency bias) but I don’t think I’ve ever felt as nervous/inevitable about getting absolutely pumped in big games as I have under Hag.

Rangnick doesn’t really count. He was one press conference away from telling the media everyone’s cock sizes. Guy lost the dressing room in a way I’ve never seen before

The back end of Ole's era too. But I'm sure without looking at the stats, we've lost more games by 3 goals under Ten Hag than we did in Ole's entire 3 years.

No they didn't.

Even if that's true, and I doubt it because "we've never been so bad" threads pop up a couple of times a season since before Fergie retired, then it's been happening for more than twice as long as ETH has been manager.

Fair point about Ragnick. He did seem to give up early on which in hindsight makes me think he's the smartest manager we've had.

The bus making it on time to the game and not being smashed up too.

It all depends on which Utd team turn up. The way you played against Chelsea last week was excellent and you do have 2 extra days rest. You play at home on Tuesday with Liverpool away in Belgium and not playing until Thursday evening. Having said that, they have already qualified for the Last 16 and can probably rest players.

United have the quality, just lacking self belief at the moment. Losing Fernandes may be a blessing as you can out another defensive midfielder in.

Seriously right now I would take losing by 1 or 2 goals and a decent showing

Us making the game on time would be a big mistake. We need the lads who delayed the game a couple of years ago.

Cancelled it you mean?

It's funny, we were in good form then and probably would've won it. Ended up getting humiliated in the re-arranged fixture :wenger:

We never seem to be in a good position or spell of form when we go to Anfield. The Premier League script writers have done a fine job at keeping that running storyline going.

I'm not watching it. I'm going for a piss easy 4 nil or more to Liverpool.. utd will start OK have a few chance not take any , then concede through giving the ball away .. and then try to get back into it leave gap after gap then get hammerd again...

1-0 defeat - fantastic.
2-0 defeat - great.
3-0 defeat - decent.
4-0 defeat - satisfactory.
5-0 defeat - not good.
6-0 defeat - unsatisfactory.
7-0 defeat - par.
8-0 defeat - sack the fecking baldie already.
9-0 defeat - fold the club.
10-0 defeat - revival of the Peoples Temple.

Was with you until that part. If we concede first it'll be an absolute mauling. No one's going to try and get back into anything except the team bus.

If he tried a different formation 4-5-1 with 2 holding midfielders and a CM not AM we might hold it to a low score, if lucky a 0-0. Keep picking the same tactics, as he will, and hoping McTom can score will result in a 6/7-0. We are more than likely going to lose, so a 3-0 minimum would be a 'good' score. Bruno cleverly got himself a pass from the game.

Chelsea were piss poor. Made Utd look better than they really are. Play a well disciplined team and you see what happened today.

We need to break the cycle.

Hopefully we put in a decent show without Bruno stinking the joint up with his petulance, and the powers that be realise that it's time to turn over the squad rather than another manager.

A defeat where we concede 3 goals or less is considered a reasonable result. A draw is an excellent result.

Moyes would love this thread. We've sunk so low he could say we aspire to be as good as Villa without pissing everyone off

I'd be shocked if it's not 4-0 or worse. Beyond 4-0 is a case of if they want to embarrass us further or not.

Were we actually ever properly battered under any of them until Ole’s final two months though? Save for that 6-1 loss to Spurs whilst down to 10 men I don’t recall us beaten that badly under Jose and the losses under LvG while frequent and often to lesser sides were usually narrow too.

ETH has basically made a habit out of being embarrassed by good teams.

That 5-0 at OT, they should have actually gone for double digits there. They were 5-0 up after 50 minutes and we quickly went down to 10 men after that. They could have easily got another 4-5.

I think ETH has more luck than sense here, Bruno getting banned means he will almost be forced to play Mainoo next to Amrabat which will help us keep the score low. Won’t be surprised if we actually get a result there and only lose by 2-3, which will inevitably lead to his fans proclaiming him a brilliant tactician again.

We’ll get ourselves up for this one. It’ll be a tight game for 30-40 minutes, then they’ll get the first and our heads will drop. Just hope we keep it below 3 or 4 afterwards.
