What do we still need? Post Summer 2015 edition.

I think we need someone like Griezmann, someone who is flexible enough to play equally well in one of the 3 positions behind the striker as well as up top. No one is displacing Rooney so we would be limited in the quality we could bring in who'd be happy sitting on the bench, they'd be able to get regular time outwide and as number 10 and also cover for injuries.
Wayne being untouchable depends on how he performs this season - we pay him too much for his performances not to count. You're right in saying that Griezman is the sort of attacker we need and those reasons are valid too. If Januzaj returns an improved player, back on track, then we can easily use him pn the right side of attack with Young, Lingard (I hope so), Perreira and preferably another academy hot shot being back up/competition. That would leave us with Griezman, Memphis and Januzaj as our primary attackers behind Martial, a 31 yr old Rooney either still playing a prominent role - maybe No.10 flanked by Griezman and Memphis/Januzaj or should this loss of form prove to be a sustained decline, playing a back up role to Martial and Griezman, up top and in the hole. A ball playing centre back would then complete the team and right now it's hard to look past Stones.

We should set aside £100m to bring those two in and if we do that then we would be ready tp fight for and actually win titles.

Right winger, young midfielder(Carrick is getting on) and a world class striker. Also a center back depending upon Jones and Rojo's performances this season. If they perform adequately then we don't need a center back as I think Smalling and Blind are very good together.

John Stones and a young player at dortmund called Adnan Januzaj

A defence of Darmian - Smalling - Stones - Shaw would be delightful but isnt Stones a right sided CB?

Stones looks like quite the player. I'd be surprised if we don't put in a bid next summer.

John Stones for me would be the perfect partner alongside Smalling.

Ross Barkley anyone?
Still very inconsistent. He looks to have everything you want for a top premier league player: speed, strength and eye for a pass, but he's still prone to making the wrong decision. That's to be expected in a young player, but I think we should be looking at someone a few years older who has already proven his quality.

We can't keep on playing players out of positions + players who are underachieving or are not good enough should leave.

GK: DDG, Romero
RB: Darmian, RB
CB: Smalling, CB
CB: Jones, Rojo
LB: Shaw, LB
DM: Schneiderlin, Blind
CM: Bastian, Herrera
LW: Depay, Young, Perriera
RW: Januzaj, RW
AM: Mata, AMC
STK: Martial, Wilson, STK

Its easy to bump this today - we simply weren't good enough and Arsenal were up for it. It happens, we move on to the next game.

Backup fullbacks, two wingers for depth, a striker and an AM when we eventually get rid of Rooney.

Mane has to be picked up. Can play in any position on the front 3 and would be an upgrade over Rooney/Memphis in about half our games this season.

We clearly need another full back, another cb and a forward but we are going to have make do with what we have and that is why the title is a pipe dream, today doesn't really change anything.

Id go for two young fullbacks, Laporte or Stones, Mane or Reus, Bale and Lacazette. We should bring Januzaj back and sell Rooney, Valencia, Young and Fellaini

Best bit of business LVG could do this season is send Rooney packing to MLS....

Free up 300k wage bill and sort out a replacement who is approaching his peak and suits what he wants in a number 10

In Shaw and Darmian we should have 2 fullbacks for the foreseeable future, what we need is a Centre Back to replace Blind, who should be used as a squad player, and for this season left back.

We should be playing Schneiderlin in big matches, which should offer protection to our defence. Him alongside Carrick/Schweinsteiger/Herrera should do us fine.

It's up front where, whichever way you chop and change the line-up, there are serious question marks. Depay hasn't had the impact we needed him to, Rooney is completely out of sorts, and Mata isn't convincing on the right wing.

So for me, a centre back and someone like Mane/Reus/Bale would completely change our team. We'd have a really strong squad, options across the park and actual penetration up top. We'd be a lot more solid and a lot more dangerous. On paper, at least.

I think we are building a team for the future so we just need cover at wing backs and probably more options on the wings, which mane would be perfect for.

It's safe to say We need a hell of a lot it'll be summer window though

Another experienced CB (Laporte)
Cover for shaw and darmian
A couple of wingers (Reus and mane)
A new number 10 (griezmann)

To leave,

Rooney
Carrick
Valdes

Defensive cover..A proper RB cover, a LB cover(Think Shaw is class , but we need a deputy), a first choice CB, a Rooney replacement at 10, and also to boost up the squad numbers. Our squad is far too small

I heard today that rojo might be out. Bring in laporte as no1 LCB and let blind rotate between LCB and LB. Whenever teams will allows us to keep possesion (chelsea etc) - blind should start.

If we sell Rojo in January then we'll surely have to buy a LCB so that Blind can cover LB, or a RB so Darmian can play LB.

Beyond that the forward line needs an injection, we lack depth and need a top starting #10, so a couple of attackers required.

I also think it could be Carrick's last season and Schweini will be 32 at the start of next season, so adding another CM would be wise.

I can't believe we've signed about 10 players in the last two years but still need fullbacks, yet another CM, a winger and a number 10. Really think LVG went overboard with the departures. We could really use the likes of Rafael and Januzaj right about now.

Yep. Absolute madness how thin is our squad is in certain areas.

Selling Rojo would be madness considering the lack of depth we actually have.

FWIW - I don't think we will buy anyone in January, Maybe a LB cover at a push.

We should consider a godfather offer in January for Griezmann. Atletico have replacements for him in Vietto and Correa.

I'm hoping for Laporte and give TFM or Tuanzebe some cup games. I think Stones will go to Chelsea or Everton won't sell (increase in TV money, meaning they won't need to sell). We need a back up to Shaw, still would've loved Evra to have been that but we let him go.

Give some young CM a few cup games or maybe sign Tielemens.

Sign Mane or go big for Grizemann. Bale will surely be out of the question after the DDG debacle, unless we put DDG in a deal for him. It just depends on what LvG is going to do with Januzaj, which I'm hoping he stays and comes back even better after his loan, you never know what LvG is going to do.

We need another striker so maybe Ronnie will be come back, or maybe Ibrahimovic for a season or two, whilst loaning Wilson out for a season.

I wonder if we should try and get a 6 month loan deal out of an experienced LB, like Coentrao perhaps? I dont think we necessarily need to buy another LB completely, as Shaw is going to be number 1 for the considerable future.

Coentrao is on loan at Monaco for the season. There was some speculation about bringing in Ashley Cole short term.

I said in the Lukaku thread that we should be looking at Barkley & Stones this summer.

Assuming Carrick either retires or moves on, and assuming we sell Fellaini, we'd have Barkley, Herrera, Schneiderlin, Blind & Bastian for our midfield.

Moving Rooney on after the Euros and replacing him sort of with Barkley makes sense.

If we were going to sell Fellaini, Rooney and Carrick, and we wanted to get Barkley and/or Stones then I'd offer Everton the pick of those three by way of return :)

A CB partner for Smalling and a replacement for Carrick (not like for like) are the easy two to identify. Stones and Gundogan would be the dream options.

We could do with a couple of good additions options but much will depend on what happens with Rooney.
