Does anybody think our transfer business is done or are you expecting some surprises before the close of the window?

We'll sign a backup goalkeeper, but after that we're done.

The squad is short a reliable goalscorer, a couple of midfielders and a decent right back. But any further incomings were clearly dependent on sales and we're not very good at selling.

We definitely 100% need - at minimum another midfielder.

We could do with - Selling Maguire and buying a replacement CB / Selling Hendo and getting a back-up GK

If I'm being really optimistic - We'd get a wily/veteran striker in to give us a bit more firepower up top, sell McT for a decent fee and get another midfielder in to replace.

What I think will happen - nothing.

We still have Mainoo to come back which will give us Casemiro/ Mctominay/ Mainoo/ Eriksen/ Mount/ Bruno/ Donny/ Hannibal meaning we have 8 for 3 places.
In attack we have Pellistri/ Amad/ Martial/ Rashford/ Antony/ Garnacho/Hojlund/ Sancho which again is 8 for 3
Defence: Lindelof/ Maguire/ Varane/ Martinez/ AWB/ Dalot/ Malacia/ Evans/ Williams/ Fernandez which is 10 for 3

I assume Fernandez, Williams, Pellistri, Donny, Hannibal all leave on loan or sale which means I think we need an attacker and midfielder and that's without the hopeful departures (Mctom/ Maguire)

The Glazer have no interest in winning the league.

The 3 players that arrived this summer 'should' be enough to secure a Top 4 finish.

Job Done.

We need another striker, a midfielder. Those two must be addressed. Ideally a right winger as well, the options are hopefuls with no one standing out to make the position their own.

We will sign a back up keeper and that’s all is my current feeling, I’ve zero optimism right now.

A disappointing window that promised so much at one point.

Why cannot we sign anyone on loan with a guaranteed option to buy to get around FFP like most other teams do? It might cost a bit more overall but got to be worth it…….

If we sign anyone now then it’s been a panic signing anyway.

I was in the percentage of people who thought we had a cracking start to our spending, but that was based on bringing in another 2 or possibly 3 players and now seems completely underwhelming. Maybe I'm in a slightly dark place at the moment but I don't see us getting anywhere near top 4 with our team as it is.

I quite honestly don't understand why they let Fred walk for all the great windfall of 8M with hardly any cover in that position after having bought another #10.

What I think we need - We need a midfielder to replace the midfielder who made 56 appearances last season who we sold and haven't replaced. We could also do with a reliable goalscorer even assuming the new guy does well, but I can't think of anyone who fits that bill.

My expectations - We will do absolutely nothing and spend more time pretending Mount is a CM.

I agree with that apart from the right back as either of AWB or Dalot should be just about ok.
But what I am most disappointed about is our abject failure to sell the players the manager seems to not want. This is a big reason behind the failure to sign the players that we all know are required.

Absolutely need another midfielder.

Could really do with another striker to back up Hojlund, need another CB for cover and a back up goalie.

But I really don’t think we will do anything else at all. Can’t see it.

What will happen is - nothing.

What we do need immediately is a backup/understudy to Casemiro(another DM, Amrabat could do) and press resistant ball carrier to help in build up and keeping possession(Kone, Thuram, Gravenberch, Nunes...). Basically two new midfielders to fix our midfield.

McTominay and VDB should be sold. Selling Maguire definitely isn't happening so we are not getting another centre back.

Adding another veteran/backup striker as squad option to rotate with Hojlund would also be helpful - i don't trust Martial's fitness at all.

Need to sell about 10 players and bring in 3/4 quality replacements.

It will be 0 out.

1 or 2 in.

This.

I don't expect anything to happen in regard to the first team - a few loans out for younger players maybe at most, nothing incoming.

The financial and FFP situation combined with the impossibility of moving on some of the fringe players means we don't have the headroom to act even if we wanted to, and I'm not convinced EtH would want to act given how the transfer window was run right from the start.

We desperately need a midfielder but can only see is loaning someone who will just add quantity rather than quality. Same could be said for a striker but I’m not expecting us to even attempt to get one.

That offer from West Ham for Maguire and Mctominay was pivotal to our window, not finding a way to get deals done for both of those effectively brought it all to a halt. I don’t see either leaving now despite manager clearly wanting them gone.

We need to improve the starting XI or we are going to be way off the pace.

We need 2 midfielders and a striker. Cas needs help and cover and we cant bank everything on Hojlund at his age and inexperience.

Outgoings, prob sell a few more promising youngsters to Dutch clubs, and loan out Hendo, Pellestri and Maguire and pay their wages FFS !

Have little faith in the club doing what is needed as we are skint and have Hojlund and Mainoo to come back and be the saviours

But with 1 Year left on his contract...would you of been happy to see him sign a new contract at United?

It was once said you can sign a player in 48 hrs so there is still timeI think. So therefore i have no hope as it seem‘s for united it can take a while.

We need the Glazers out along with Richard Arnold. Everything else is just a distraction. Get these american parasites out of the club.

I still cant believe we are in the same position 2 games in relying on Martial and Rashford like we have been for 4-5 years.

Falcao, Ibra, Lukaku, Weghurst, Cavani, Ronaldo and that little likeable dude we got on loan.

Do we actually have a reliable scouting network that identifies young talent? It seems we rely on players in the twilight of their careers.

I wouldnt be suprised if ETH get Leeroy Lita or Defoe on a loan to fil the until Hojlund is fit:lol::lol:

They could have let him play it out and make a decision next summer when FFP is not as biting. What is 8M in the coffers compared to a gaping hole in midfield?

The only thing I see happening is a back up keeper if Henderson finally leaves. Any other business has been scuppered by failing to clear out the dead wood again, with Maguire, McTominay, Martial, Williams and Donny still on the books. Bringing back Greenwood was also clearly supposed to be the club's solution to the forward problem and that's down the drain too now.

I take your point, personally I think the club just needs to move on from the McFred days.

How many campaigns in the United manager expected to start with McFred to rely upon.

I don't think Fred could of done anything in the opening 2 games that the likes of Mount, Bruno, Eriksen, Casemiro, McTom couldn't...at least on paper.

We needed two midfielders at the start of the window, and imo we still do.

Whatever Mason Mount was for Chelsea is the complete opposite of what we desperately needed. We needed a starting midfielder who is both press-resistant and capable of dictating the pace of a game, Mason Mount is neither and at best a Bruno alternative.

I'm not sure what value Amrabat adds but at this stage we may as well get him in if we can. That Frenkie De Jong level player we desperately need cannot happen now and probably never will.

We need a big upgrade to cover both wings because Sancho and Antony are absolutely pointless - this almost certainly will not happen. Garnacho will blow hot and cold...so far freezing, but he will do more than them two that's for sure.

We need another striker. Martial is pointless, Hojlund supposedly has an acute injury which we all know can be impossible to manage ( think back to Rashford at his worst, Ferdinand at points in his career etc).

We need another CB, but Maguire is staying so that isn't happening.

So basically I expect us to maybe sign Amrabat or a midfielder of that level, and that's kind of it. Sad really, but goes to show how much money this club wastes.

One can only hope Mainoo comes good after his injury and one of the other youngsters gets an opportunity, because our record in signing players in recent years is pathetic.

Doubt we'll do anything. Expect a busy winter window if Hojlund doesn't find his feet and we're bottom half come January.

If nothing else, Fred has the engine to press and recover to not leave Casemiro covering the breadth of the pitch once the front 4 is bypassed.

I think we'll make two signings: a backup goalkeeper and the classic Deadline Day panic buy (someone completely out of left field - either a striker or a CM)

Casemiro needed cover last season; if we close out this window having not addressed that it is gross negligence and real dereliction of duty to both the player and the club’s ambitions this season. Injury and/or fatigue to Casemiro and we’re cooked. We shouldn’t have such a single point failure by the end of an entire summer transfer window.

We also need a proper ball-using midfielder who can retain the ball under pressure as well as distribute it handily when the opportunity is there to do so.

We need so much all over the park. Another CB, a couple of midfielders, a pacy winger and a striker to backup Højlund.

If we get more than one of those I'd be very surprised.

I agree with some of the earlier posters, I don't think selling Fred for a pittance was a great move. We didn't get anywhere near enough to sign a replacement and although ideally we need a better player, the reality is we don't have one and now we don't even have him as an option.

Hopefully we'll sign someone else but I'm not confident we will.

What we need to do:

Sell Maguire, van de Beek, and Henderson
Sign a CB, a CM, and a ST
Re-sign De Gea as a backup

What I expect we'll do:

Sell van de Beek and Henderson
Sign a CM and a backup GK

At moment we have no funds and depends on outgoings what we are told. Surely there is one or 2 heading for exit.

Can we not explore and try and loan 2 players for season with obligation to buy next summer.

I suspect we will buy someone, if only to take the media attention off the Greenwood fiasco. Plenty of time.

I think we're done and we probably need money in to balance the books.
