Music What are the top 3 gigs you’ve been to?

Pffft this is hard...

- The Roots at Noches del Botanico in 2019 were fecking amazing, it's also one of my favourite venues for concerts, so that was awesome
- Gorillaz in Paris in 2018 or 19, not sure, great great gig and the setlist was perfect to a tee, I was crying 25mns into the concert I think
- Probably Jack White as the last one of the top 3, just an incredibly talented guy, at the Olympia in Paris which is one of my favourite venues, awesome night, he left it all out on stage

This is leaving out a couple of great Oasis gigs (one in the Bataclan, a small venue in Paris, another at Wembley with Kasabian as the warming up band), Jay Z, A place to bury strangers, Justice, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Tash Sultana, and probably many others

U2 2010 at ANZ stadium with Jay-z opening
Jeff Buckley Sydney Enmore theatre 1996 (what a talent)
The Police at ANZ stadium 2008 ( I never thought I would get to see one of my all time favs}

Oasis - Wembley - 2009 - There was a power cut / sound problems, and Noel came on to say none of you feckers are getting a refund.
The Hives - O2 Academy Brixton - 2008 - The wife was impressed with this one, as I played football with 2 of the band members (Pelle and Matt Destruction) on a football exchange when we were younger. My old dear is still in touch with and visits their parents.
Ash - Don't know where - Don't know when - Memorable because most of the people there were my age, and they were playing new material, which none of us knew. Really flat until they kicked off with all their 1977 material, and the whole place changed completely
Pete Tong & The Heritage Orchestra - O2 Arena - 2016 - Live house music played by the orchestra, absolutely mind-blowing

Haven't been to many, but my mum took me to Metallica in 2004 in the Amsterdam Arena when I was 9. In return I took her to Guns 'N Roses (her favorites) last summer when they came to my hometown. Great nights and I'm thankful I was able to experience both with her. We actually got tickets for Metallica again at the now Johan Cruyff Arena for the 27th of April, really looking forward to it!

1. Daft Punk - 2006 @ Global Gathering
Absolutely unbelievable in one of the tents.

2. Basement Jaax - some nightclub in Brixton

3. Fat Boy Slim - Global Gathering main stage Radio 1 Beach Set.

Hard to pin it down to top 3 for overall quality, but the 3 where I lost myself the most in were probably:

1. Jay Z - Earl's Court
2. Chase & Status - Hyde Park
3. Major Lazer - Motion in Bristol

Can't believe I forgot to add Kate Bush in 2014 which was undoubtably one of the most incredible gigs I've ever witnessed.

Jealous about Fugazi...

Against me! and HWM are great live bands. Never been a big Alkaline Trio fan, seen them live but didn't stand out.

I was in two minds about going to see Fugazi (not knowing at the time that it would be the last tour they ever did). My Dad is a big fan so he was going anyway and had spare tickets. I wasn't super into them back then, but seeing them live changed that.

Never really got why Alkaline Trio got as popular as they did. They're fine, but nothing about them really stands out. Decent on the night, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see them again. They were the headliners though, so had a much bigger fanbase in the venue. Hot Water Music played their cover of Radio, and it was night and day how much better it was than when Alkaline Trio played it. Kinda stole their thunder a bit, since that was Alkaline Trio's closing song.
