After a decent weekend for us in the League, we're back in action with the WFA Cup and we're already at the QF stage. Strangely the WSL top 4 are all still in at the QF stage. Stranger still none of the matches are between top 4 teams. Strangest of all, we're the only team playing against a Championship team.

It goes without saying that the biggest danger to us would be ourselves.

From today's press conference:
Skinner confirmed that United are in talks with Gotham FC over a loan deal for Geyse.
Terland and Awujo will not be available for this one.
Naalsund may not be ready to return.
Sandberg is back in training after missing last week due to illness
Rivière is back in training and may be ready for this weekend.

Any chance of getting Barbara Gordon or Selina Kyle the other way in an exchange?
 
No disrespect to Sunderland, but we need to put them to the sword today with a full 90 minute performance (unlike last week). We’ve got to keep the momentum going for the run-in, which means not settling for a 1 or 2 goal win over inferior opposition

I guess the question would be about rotation really as it's probably the last chance to do much in terms of starters this season.

I was wondering if we might see our new backup keeper, Kayla Rendell, get a game for example. I hope we'll see some minutes for Mared Griffiths, probably from the bench, as well.

It's tough, realistically the Cup is our only chance of a trophy this season and it was great winning it last year - no one wants to put that at risk. Even so, you never know when you might need a backup and this is really the only chance we've got to let them get a run out with the team.

Rendell is cup tied I believe.

Back in training apparently so I don't think she's expected to be out for long. Skinner described her as "maybe ready" in Thursday's press conference, so hopefully we're just playing it safe.
 
Nice finish from Super Leah Galton. She’s really stepped up since Terland has been injured. Such a useful player for us
 
Yep. I'm watching the match on the telly.

Time for another goal to get the adrenaline going I think but the keeper has decided to have a nice lie down instead.

Maya scoring in injury time from a corner.

Malard hit the bar midway through the half and United had a fair few other good chances as well. We've had the ball in their half pretty much the whole game.
 
All in all, a decent half against a well organised and determined defence. With Maya's injury time goal that should be game over but let's not count our chickens just yet!
 
I liked what I saw in the first half. Two beautiful goals plus a few near misses.

I especially like that we seem to be playing with a greater sense of urgency than might have been expected. On a couple occasions PTJ has come up close to the halfway line to help keep the pressure on -- I love that! There's been a lot of tic-tac passing around the back and midfield, but it always seems to be with purpose: Each time around we push it a little forward and gain some territory. And we're showing some creativity in trying to crack an organized defense, and not relying strictly on crosses from the corners.
 
Malard with a chance in the opening minute if the second half but timing didn't work out.

Sunderland look like they're in damage limitation mode which means our attackers are going to get a bit of attack v defence practice.
