England were 318 all out.
the Windies are currently 67/1.

What is the pitch/outfield looking like? Haven't watched the match so far, but judging by St.Kitts' huge total, I assumed we were in for a batting pitch.
Fair play to the windies. We're a complete joke. When you remove idiots like pietersen then we might have a chance of winning.

ha brilliant. Yeah lets drop our best batsmen! Idiot.
It is time though that the selectors picked the best team rather than the best individuals. Shah will get the nod for the 2nd test, and so will Rashid- even though monty is the better spinner at least Adil has variations and can bat and field well.
Woeful batting again from England, but some brilliant fast bowling from the windies which is good to see.
We need to find a stronger opening partnership than Strauss and Cook, we never seem to set up a platform from these 2. Cook might benifit from dropping to the number 3 spot, but then there isn't another opener in the squad!
Don't particularly follow cricket, but I like to watch it now and again. Can someone explain what you mean by batting like an opening/3rd/4th/etc batsman?
Well, generally the first six players on the scorecard, are your best batsmen...
Thanks, makes things fairly clear! Asides from getting the good men in first to get you off to a good start, are there any tactical implications in say, varying the 3rd 4th and 5th and the likes?
Not permanently dropping him but its obvious that he's a disruptive influence. His batting style maybe of all out attack but he has to learn to adapt his style to the situation of the team. He's thrown his wicket at times when we've been slowly building up a large total. You don't need individual superstars, just talented "team players". If he's dropped temporarily his arrogance may be curbed. He's just one of those players i hate seeing in our national shirt (like john terry).
Well, generally the first six players on the scorecard, are your best batsmen...these are the ones who should get the majority of the runs. These generally consist of two fairly dull, but gutsy players who try to get the innings off to a good start - your number one and two.
Number three is something of an enigma...could be another dull, but gutsy player (good at the defensive strokes), or it could be someone with a bit more flair. Either way, these either hang around for ages, or are out fairly quickly.
Number four is often the 'star' of the team, with arrogance playing a major part, and often a bit of a tabloid 'darling'. Often rescues the team with some thrilling strokeplay and a cavalier attitude.
Number five has some tendnacies of the number four (but often not quite as skillful or good-looking).
Number six is sometimes a bit of an all-rounder...bats well, bowls well - consequently often injured.
Number seven is the wicket keeper, who is generally a bit lippy and quite short.
Number eight is often a bowler who thinks he can bat a bit (but often can't)
Number nine is often a bowler who is probably a better batsman than number eight, but often gets overlooked because he doesn't have a syndicated column in a quality broadsheet.
Number ten is often the best bowler in the team, sometimes gets into double figures with the bat and provides some late entertainment in the process.
Number eleven is quite often a spin bowler, who has devoted his professional life to perfecting the googly, but has absoulutely no idea how to hold a bat. Often looks a bit frail and is bullied by the opposing fast bowlers.
Unless, we are talking about England, and therefore they are all shite!!!!!!!!
Hope this helps!
I have this suspicion that nobody really cares about cricket at the moment apart from India.
If spoony was around he'd agree to that I reckon.
What a farce!
