Mata deserves a serious bollocking, if he actually wants to play for us anymore. The lackadaisical attitude he showed on those two yellows was disgusting. There was no cause for either one, especially that both were in our half and there was absolutely no danger. I don't have any argument on him being sent off.

I also think Rojo has been terrible with his positioning. He hasn't been coming forward for an overlap, which would help to free up Martial, but that may be instructions he was given.

Also to add, I always thought that if the player opts for a fast free kick without the ref laying out 10 yards, then he waves away the ten yard rule?

Mike Dean has given out more red cards than any other ref this season. That's the first time Mata has seen red in the Premier League, and one of the quickest back-to-back yellows in years.

The ref surely could have had a word with Mata, but he was very quick to send him off. A shame because he has unnecessarily spoiled the spectacle. He always feels the urge to influence proceedings when a quiet word would suffice.

Nah, Mata actively runs in the way of the free kick. It is a booking.

Second isn't for me though... a red card should be produced when a player no longer deserves to be on the field for a variety of reasons, I don't think you can say that for Mata in this game.

If Mata hadn't been booked already, I don't think he would have even got a first booking for that foul. Dean would have just had a word like he did with Blind when he kicked their fella in the head.

It's always been a booking. It's why players never do it, or they would always do it! Fletcher has every right to take it early. If someone encroaches the 10 yards to block it, it's always, always a yellow.
