There seem to be a lot of overreactions on here. The first 25 mins really must have been terrible because this place has gone crazy.

I agree that at times Evra was a liability last season. That said, he was playing a stupid amount of games - I imagine that he would do better if he had a backup option (or WAS a backup option) with Shaw.

My opinion on Shaw is not based on one half but on his performances since he joined the club. Potential but not the finished article yet by a long shot, and we have so little cover for him that there will not be much reprise.

To be fair, he has somewhat of a point. It's not like our progress (if any) has been significant since the Moyes days (after all this time!) and despite how many players both managers brought in.

Something Mourinho understood was how to get results first and then he can look forward to improve his team with whoever he wants to bring. To an extent I can fully understand why he went that way before he moved heaven and earth to get the missing pieces. Considering who played for Chelsea last season, not many would have thought they would almost take the title challenge to the wire with some dross he had.

Moral of the story: I would only focus on getting results now at all costs and then think about adding the final pieces later.
