Were Fecked

Some, but not all. Bloody hell, I wasn't too keen on Veron after last season's showing and he hasn't done a great deal to convince me he's been worth it so far this season. I might have advocated selling him in June and conceivably I would have called for a striker or a defender (we needed both and after all, prior to Veron we had the same cast in the midfield). And you're saying that in those circumstances I should now be "hanging my head in shame"?

Hmmm seems maybe I've got my wires crossed! Sounds like you're of the same opinion as me.

OK OK!
I agree that Veron hasn't performed as well as hoped. But if we didn't have him we would be in trouble right now with Scholes and Keane out of action. Agree?
Perhaps 'hand their heads in shame' wasn't exactly the right phrase. 'Grateful he wasn't sold' might be better.

Disagree mate, there are other options but very few up front.

I think we should still sell Veron, but we should use all of the money to get in Bob the Builder. Can he fix it?YES HE CAN!! ;)

Yes, we're fecked. Nowt but kids on the bench - and you can't win anything with kids.......

Team for tomorrow:

Barthez
Neville P.
Blanc or O'Shea (I'd have O'Shea)
Rio
Silvestre
Becks
Butt
Veron
Giggs
Ruud
Ole.

Or it will still be 4-5-1, with Giggs behind Ruud, and Diego wide left.

Is he? I haven't heard any news.

The new guy then.

Barthez isn't out, just typical media speculation. He played last week 90 mins, we've heard nothing wrong over the past week, no problem.

i wonder if barthez tomorrow then will be the Barthez of last week; no grinning from ear to ear, improptu hailing of taxis or waving to his friends in Le Bistro. he seemed to keep things simple more than usual or was it me gazing in horrific anticipation and scratching my hands whenever barty came near near the ball?
has he been told to first do the simple things right before blowing up balloons on the pitch and insisting on running his Baguette stall at half time?

You'll never change Barthez. He's always made mistakes but when he's got his game head on he's one of the most naturally talented goalkeepers around. He'll never be able to replace the big dane but don't forget even Schmeichael made mistakes.
According to The Express Ricardo is likely to start tomorrow night because Sir Alex is still nursing Fabien through and with A game tomorrow, Leeds on Saturday and the CL on Tuesday is it seem as too many games in a short space of time.
I don't know much about Ricardo but i'd rather have him or Roy Carroll playing than a GK that is less than 100% no matter who he is.

true. i do like barthez dont get me wrong. but its seems a good night for ricardo's debut. anyone see him in the media giving a positive account of his intro to de laaads? especially about keano being a big softie, sure roy appreciated that. :p

In all honesty, Barthez rarely made any of his clown stuff after the start of last season. Fergie told him to cut it out after he nearly cost us a goal or two at Blackburn (2-2) and he did. The goals he cost us were errors, not attempts to be too clever.

like the rest of the defence, he just needs a run of consistency and we'll see his form shoot up. :)
