first time I have watched any of this, but a driver change after less than 30 mins, is that normal ?
Not usual, unless the driver has to wee or something. They usually stay in the car at least 2 hours, and more like 3.

Am i right in saying that the best cars in LMP1 are now Petrol and if so what happened to the Diesel engines.

Agree with sentence #1, although I still love F1.
However, you cannot compare the two: 1 1/2 hours vs. 24 hours. And LeMans is the greatest of the endurance races and some would say the greatest motorcar race. Also, this particular race has been atypical in that there are so many lead cars out. (I've been watching endurance for 5 decades).
And...#62 Ferrari and my boy Townsend Bell wheeling it are still in the race! Also pleased with the #29 Nederland team because Rubens Barrichello is one of the drivers.

Since they brought in Hybrid power, it's gone back to being a proper reliability test. The Audis made it look too easy.

I've always tended to watch Le Mans over the years and thoroughly enjoyed this years, great last couple of laps with the Chevy and Aston.

Motorsport as we know it is slowly dying. Porsche and Audi shut up their LMP1 shop to start fecking about with Formula E, as is Mercedes who are leaving DTM for the same reason. And I hated electric cars enough before all of this... Even F1 which is supposed to be the undisputed king of racing has been more concerned with downsizing engines and co2 emissions than actually going as fast as possible.
Makes me genuinly sad...
