We will never win the league with Marcus Rashford in the team

Well said.

I forget which game it was, near the end of the season at OT. Rashford came on quite late as a sub and chased absolutely everything for a few minutes. After every sprint you could see him looking around for some support. He got none at all so he stopped doing it. I'm not saying that Rashford put in enough effort consitantly last season. But when you have completely lost faith in your team, as they clearly all had, everything becomes so much more difficult.

Maybe Rashford will re-discover what made him a dangerous player, who knows. But I'd rather find out with him here than have yet another gap to fill.

Or we could just spend all our energy hounding him on social media and singing fcuk off to him at OT. That really helps the club.

It was vs Brighton. Rashford was pressing so much and then gave up because no one else did.

I’m going to buck the trend and predict that Rashford is going to have a very good season. 20 goals and 10 assists.

I wonder if anyone told himself, "we will never win the league with Moses/Drinkwater/Henderson/Zinchenko/Welbeck in the team.

In all these cases, there is a context where it's likely true but it's also not due to any of these players but the fabric of the entire team, the 20+ other players and the coaching staff.

In all honesty you could say the same about Maguire, Shaw, AWB, Fred and Scott so not sure why you are signalling out Rashford. Every player in the team is incapable of giving 7/10 every match except De Gea.
The club needs 6 new world class singings before they can even think of challenging Liverpool or City. The main thing now is to get a team capable of finishing top four every season but we are a mile behind City, Liverpool, Chelsea and with Conte in charge of Spurs we are going to behind them as well. We are probably lucky that from 2024 there should be an extra spot in the premier league but Arsenal probably outpass us by then.

Far lesser players have won the league for the love of feck.

Rashford does need to improve and he is capable. The manager and system is far more important.

So you are suggesting that our players aren't horny enough. Are you actually LVG12?

There a tonne of analysis on how and why it's "all gone wrong" for Rashford but I predicted early on this is exactly how it would go.

Classic boom and bust, "where did it all go wrong?" football story.

Talk a player up way beyond their ability then knock them back down and spin tales of "wasted talent".

In reality, Marcus Rashford is Andros Townsend or Gabby Agbonlahor from a fancier Academy and with a purple-patch at the start of his career

Klopp gets his players horny - how does the process even work?

Something to do with asthma apparently?!?!

What puzzles me is the media love-in with Rashford, for example on Talksport, where he is routinely labeled as "undoubtedly a great player who has lost his way..."

Is it just me?

I see a player who is not a 'youngster' anymore, and who has not improved one iota from when he was 19

'great' players improve rapidly after breaking into the team, over the following couple of seasons.

Rashford in my opinion is possibly THE most overrated player at United in the past 20 years.

He isn't a centre-forward -
  1. he can't hold the ball up
  2. his first touch is suspect
  3. he can't head the ball for toffee
  4. his positional play is non-existent
  5. he doesn't excel at bringing other players into the build up
  6. his finishing is poor and he doesnt get tap ins
  7. too easily knocked off the ball
he isnt a winger -
  1. constantly runs into dead ends when trying to run with the ball
  2. thinks he is Messi then gets dispossessed routinely when trying to dribble
  3. when he runs with the ball it is heads-down - no vision
  4. have you ever seen him play a defence-splitting pass? (no, me neither)
  5. crossing the ball? forget it.
  6. getting back to help his full-back? very suspect.
So, what is he?

If he wasnt 'one of our own' and wasnt a socialist anti-tory poster boy, he'd have been outed well before now.

We will never win the league with *insert nearly any name in the squad* in the team.

This pretty much sums it up. Pointless thread.

If the rest of the squad were good enough to win the title, Rashford wouldn't cost us the title. Wings are an area you can afford a little luxury and if our squad were good enough and Rashford was the underperformer you could afford to try other things.

You also have to take into account a winning squad create better opportunities so Rashford has a greater chance to shine. The standards and expectations are also very different. Pot shots wouldn't be allowed for

We won the league with tom cleverley and Anderson in the team thus proving this thread to be rubbish. A well organised team unit with good players in the right frame of mind will always stand a chance. We have good players of which Marcus is one, what we don't have is an organised team, hopefully that is something Ten Hag will bring over time.

He is more interested in inventing silly handshake routines, showing off, and wanting people to look at his hair, than he ever will be in working hard to help his team win a game.

One of the dumbest comments I've seen on here in a while. How exactly do you know this?

It's people like the opening poster which is why I want Rashford to come back with avengence this season. Some of the comments are just downright ridiculous. But not a surprise.

100%. I'm soo desperate for our haters to be silenced once and for all this season. The season hasn't even started and everything is being written off already. It's just absurd.

People talk about a mythical cult of rashford but I find the cult of hating rashford far more interesting and intense.

Rashford is a playground footballer. Turns up to show off in games where the opposition are poor enough to allow us the luxury of him doing so. As soon as the team need him however, you can forget it.
I actually think the complete opposite. Rashford is a player well capable of playing at the absolute highest level, but struggles to concentrate in the games we dominate. I'm not sure but I think he's probably scored more goals for us Vs Man City and Liverpool and psg than any player I can think of. He routinely is maybe the only player we have that's done ANYTHING against our top four rivals or even the average Champion's league teams.

I think he's just a young guy going through a crisis of confidence and motivation. But he's got everything he needs to get it back.

Then again he scored a penalty 4 mins deep in to extra time against PSG in Paris…..maybe he is a winner….,his best periods have come under Ole and Mourinho….man managers - confidence managers….I think Ten Hag is a man manager and a tactic / system manager so I hope he might get back to his best….along with a lot of players who have suffered with all of the management changes and pressures at UTD….

I don't know if we will or not but the man has the gall to refuse to make an effort. That's what makes me angry. Not because he is good enough or not.
Yes, that’s what got me really pissed at him.

I'm all for giving players a second chance under Ten Hag but the above is so 100% on point that it's very hard to make a case for Rashford.
