we often score six but we seldom score ten

Apart from when we're playing "Burru".

Does a team who gets beaten at home by Bolton and Boro deserve to win the league?

Yesterday really hurt. Of course we do not have a divine right to win matches but we should be beating these teams, that's what champions do. Today we looked really tired. Nothing was coming off at all and there seemed no urgency to make something happen.

The atmosphere was alright, better than I thought it would be for this type of low key fixture, and Boro were just Boro. Did anyone hear them sing once? fecking bunch of muppets.

As for Veron, You could say he was at fault for the goal but the facts remain that the goal was scored very early on and we had plenty of time to come back from it. The fact we didn't speaks volumes.

We've come back from 2-0 down away to Villa and 3-0 down away to Spurs, surely we can come back from being 1-0 down AT HOME!

As stated in Red Issue, United fans all wanted big money signings, now when they get them they change their mind and want them out. IMO no player is worth £28 million, but if one thing comes from the Veron signing then it must be that you cannot buy success. Local lads who know what wearing the shirt means or big, big buys from abroad?

Things to make you :)

* A nod of appreciation for Larry White- bloody great as per usual. Makes everything look easy and is one cool customer. Does he ever break sweat?

* Charlie got lots of stick which was funny at the time but he had the last laugh.

* Fergie having a fit at the linesman while some prick from the F.A. tried to hold him back.

* Fred the Red’s understudy watching his every move as in the next home game it will a new fella inside the sacred costume, poor sod!

* Boro fans being 1-0 up at Old Trafford and still not singing. Were waving flags though, muppets.

* “shall we fill a ground for you”

Things to make you :(

* Erratic crosses into the box (again)

* completley wasting corners (again)

* A rubbish ref who was flashing cards around like they were going out of fashion.

* Forlan still not quite up to speed yet, it’ll come.

* Losing at home to a side who looked organised but did not look that special.

* The song goes, "we will fight, fight, fight for United", but where was the fight and the desire yesterday?

* United losing. I wouldn't care too much if they gave everything and lose but they didn't do that yesterday. There was no urgency at all. Do they really share the desire that Fergie does?

Stories to make you

* Veron definatley off in the summer

* Fergie has been promised £200 mil to spend over the next three years but he has to sell.

* Viera to United for £50 mil in the summer (apparently this is a dead cert)

Winning the league maybe, but then doing crap in Europe and getting relegated says everything.

Speaking of Boro, a little competition, guess which "Burru" game this season the below item was taken at?

hmmmm... united aren't usually the type of side that lacks commitment... maybe playing in Portugal had an effect on the lads?? playing two days a week at the standard we do, isn't easy..something has to give... afterall they are only human.

Who don't have the desire and urgency? Beckham surely have it. Rudd also have, see he went out to get back the ball personally whenever the ball went out. Gary Neville, Giggs, Blanc, etc. also played with urgency and tried very, very hard. Then who didn't have urgency at all? We all know the answer, yet I hope to hear his name directly from your mouth (or your keyboard) ;)

All did not have the urgency IMO.

Urgency and playing very hard are not the same things.

UNITED had there chances you would of put your house on ruud scoring the chance where the keeper made a great block :( but it did not happen i do not believe any player likes losing some days you score some you dont it was one of those days so what. we will fight on AND THE RED FLAG WILL FLY HIGH

Well I have been buying a load of gear from the Megastore of late...

other than Veron, who is there 2 sell? and what the feck do we want with Viera? his heart'll never be in it!
all this proves is, unless a player has the passion 2 overcome a debilitating injury just 2 prove 2 united we need him, the best way 2 go is still young, free, boy-hood fans with something a little extra special in their boots!
we're not a fecking Chelsea TV dinner fer fex sake!

I get somewhat confused by some of the attitudes on here.

We aren't supposed to slag off the team, but get behind it.

We aren't supposed to be glory-seekers.

OK - I'm with it so far......

But spending a lot in the transfer market, means some players will have to go. Will it be those players who get slagged off? And if so, why should we be looking forward to them being sold, if we aren't to slag them off.

And we aren't supposed to be glory-seekers, but we should be quite happy to see the departure of players who might be United thru and thru, in the quest for glory?

We might need to strengthen the team, but I don't want to see it decimated, and all this talk of spending £200 million is, I hope, pure fantasy.

We spent big in the summer, and let's be honest, it hasn't really improved things.

Class. per usual.

You just can't buy quality these days. Look at some of Fergie's best buys, the likes of Ole and Eric. They cost a million pounds each which is nothing. You have to search for talent not buy big, when you buy big then too much is expected of the players as has happened this season. So get searching MUFC staff!

Barca - go you get more pleasure from watching players who have come thru the ranks, or have been discovered by United. I know I do.

A big name is OK - but if the whole team gets filled with some of the players suggested on here, I have to say that for the first time I can remember, my support for United would be tested, even if they went on to win everything in sight. I'd probably be pleased they won, but I'd have no passion for it.

Of course, the Busby babes, the Fergie fledglings.... it's what our club is about, bringing the youth through the ranks.

You have to bring people sometimes of course you do, but the passion for United cannot ever be the same as for a local lad who loves United and is given the chance to play for them, they'd give everything for the shirt.

When people talk about their favourite players many mention Ruud, Ole etc. etc. but for Manchester reds you always get the local lads (the Nevilles, Butt, Scholes) scoring highly.

Local players know what the club means to the paying public. You can't possibly get the same feeling from foreign players, and that's why the likes of Chelsea are in such a state, their identity has been taken away by having no locals in the side :(

must be because you're not a local red..

we didn't chose to become United fans... it came with the territory..so i guess i'll always have passion for my local club.

unlike some who 'weighed up their options and decided to be united fans', eh barca? ;)

Exactly. And that's why all this talk of bringing in players whose names look like a hand in Scrabble is depressing me no end.

The 1992/93 title was obviously special - but nothing has matched the satisfaction of the 95/96.

My option was be a red or be thrown out on the streets by the family

Definatley, the first was obviously the best IMO cause we'd waited so long. I feel like we started to expect the league after that which made winning it a little bit less sweet :(

Location has nothing to do with it. I'd still want them to do well, but could you honestly say that you'd be happy if United turned into Chelsea? Maybe it's something that I would accept if it happened, I don't know. But the thought of it leaves me cold.

Nothing can match the atmosphere, the sheer pleasure and joy.

But there was a different kind of satisfaction altogether about 95/96.

I cried in 92/93. I didn't in 95/96 so emotions were different. But 95/96 is unlikely ever to be emulated by any team.

personally 92/93 was my all time favourite,
i honeslty thought after the tragic finish the yr before that we were destined to never do it.

you allways remember your first time ;)

ofcourse i don't want United to turn into a 'Chelsea' but you've stated that your passion might go if something like that happens. I know that'll never happen to me, i'd go crazy if Crespo or Timm scores the winning european cup goal in the future...

I'll support Manchester United for life..plain and simple. TBH we've always been the biggest spenders, how many times have we broken the transfer record?? from Law, Robson, Pallister, cole, stam, keane (most expensive defender in the world at the time) to veron..United have always dished out the cash!!

PS we'll never have the same crop as the one in the early ninties..thats unless we need to rebuild the team or worse, the club.

The standard of our domestic league has vastly improved since the intial days of our fledgings...

I know we need to strengthen. But I just hate the thought of filling the team with foreigners. Actually, I don't think it will happen - it's some of the supporters on here who just grab a big name out of the air and scream "Buy, buy" like a stock market investor on speed.

And it's not even foreigners as such - it's the big name foreigners.

Hyppia wasn't that well known before he came over here. I want us to find players.
