This final is as exciting as pulling teeth.
Shit game, too scrappy and Holland very lucky still to have 11 men.
This game is demonstrative of the whole WC in a nutshell - too many teams playing safe, tactical football rather than creative attacking football - overall boooring.

Similar to the Spain - Germany game. One goal will probably win it.
It's been very cagey and cautious. The players are afraid to express themselves and play open, attacking football. The Dutch have killed the game with their fouling, while the Spanish can pass freely without penetration.
Something's got to give eventually. Im still hoping the Netherlands blow this game wide open and quickly.

Unsurprising first half. Holland have been the same all the way through the tournament, extremely dull in the first half and then nicking goals to win matches. Spain could do with Fabregas or Mata on - or I guess Llorente.
That tackle from De Jong was horrible; so stupid and infuriating to watch.

Yep, it's been an intriguing game. I'm enjoying it, these look like two top, top level teams that are genuinely scared of each other.

What will you have had Webb do instead? He has been brilliant. Nobody wants to see 10 against 11 this early in the game of this importance. His discretion has saved this final. It keeps the potential of a good game alive.

i agree spoony spain had that typical start ruling the midfield then it all kinda changed. clearly van bommel needs to stay on the pitch but for now i would think that the dutch will be the happier in the locker room.

dont agree. yes the game has starts and stops but the tactical battle is interesting to me as a neutral.

Spain were in the ascendancy when they pressed hard and high but you can't do that all game. As it settled down Holland started to get Robben into the game, second half they need to get Sneijder and van Persie in possession in Spain's final third to win it.

Reminds me Portugal vs Holland in 2006, after they fouled CR twice (the second time should be a red) the game turned ugly.
