Should probably tag @BeforeKeanetherewasRobson for @Indnyc's pick
Pirlo (2006)
@crappycraperson
Can't believe he lasted this long. Doubtless only because of the chain factor. I'd gladly have had him early on if we'd stuck with that 1994-1998-2002-2006 chain.
Yeah wtf was my first reaction there. Has to be one of the top playmakers in the pool going by his 2006 tourney.
Never even considered him in my original chain as he was for sure to be picked in the second... third... fourth?.. yeah.Absolute joke at this point I was even considering him as a first round pick, he isnt that good though but was thinking he would make the drafting process very interesting.
I'd agree with you if not for a simple point — this is a World Cup draft and he literally won one playing in a midfield two. Generally — yes, people tend not to like him outside a diamondPirlo realistically is a good pick for the latter rounds from a squad building POV, so am not surprised.
You need to lay the groundwork for him before fitting him in.
If you get him first and then set it up around him, you will keep chasing a certain type of players.
Think someone lost a game a couple of drafts ago because they played him in a 2 man midfield in a 4-2-3-1.

Hope I get to build a 4-4-2 with those 4 sometime. Can't think of a better modern one to compete against any formation.
Original formation was 4-4-2, it was spoilered after the substitution was made (I think Batigol-Crespo was an odd pairing, but other than that it's practically perfect)Close enough. But not a 4-4-2. So the dream lives on
Another stealCarlos Gamarra
One of the best WC defenders I have seen

That's bloody brilliant! Would be close to 4-4-2 nirvana with someone like maybe Bergkamp or Del Piero as the second striker behind Bastituta.Original formation was 4-4-2, it was spoilered after the substitution was made (I think Batigol-Crespo was an odd pairing, but other than that it's practically perfect)
You can make the pick now itself@crappycraperson
So I just realized I made an ineligible pick.
Dario Srna was not in the 2010 World Cup. Only tournament Croatia missed in recent years.
That was my mistake for not double checking and picking on memory since I was always going to use the 2006 tournament of him
How should I proceed?
I could repick my 2010 pick after Arbitrium and Smiley make their last picks for instance
You have already made it
We get 13 picks?
Was 13 but then changed it after the bidding process. Also 13th round was going to start from reverse order.I was sure it was 13 for some reason.
Drafting over.
Yes.No naming unpicked players. We still can pick them in first reinforcement round, right?
Draw?Yes.
Aye. Undoubtedly by the end of the draft you want to be packed with attacking brilliance which inevitably lacks work rate and the last thing you want on top of that is a central midfielder no less who also has a limited value off the ball. Rightly or wrongly that is the way the arguments predictably go. I remember @Raees and I got Pirlo at a similar stage in the Euros draft, which was a bit ridiculous considering how good he was in 2012. To be fair I think @Theon had a nice diamond with Pirlo in it in the CL draft.Heyy, I don't disagree with you. That Italy team of course had hardworking wingers.
I am just telling how voter mindsets impact some players getting picked late.
Pirlo and to an extent Scholes, are some of the victims of this.
I have never seen a great team built around Scholes in any draft here for example. Even in the 4-4-2's
It was a midfield 4, though. Both the wide players worked tirelessly and added to the midfield battle. Whatever be the formation, you need loads of legs in midfield to accommodate him.he literally won one playing in a midfield two
